1. When I had my 3EQ I'd never change the EQ settings, but I'd still much rather have a 3EQ Stingray due to the jack input position.
  2. I got an unbelievable bargain in the HMV sale the other day that I forgot to mention: I got Primal Scream's Screamadelica and Give Out But Don’t Give Up in a double pack for £3!! Both classic, both great, bloody bargain!
  3. Try the ACM - http://www.acm.ac.uk/ Can't recommend them from personal experience though simply because I have no personal experience of them Heard they’re not completely sh*t though.
  4.
I sell loads on Ebay. Plainly he's quite correct. J.
Well I would have agreed with the ‘chief until about 2 months ago when MissBWUK started selling loads of her stuff on my ebay account, and currently I have 52 active auctions… I still f***ing hate it (because of the nice little monopoly they’ve got going on with paypal, and the ever increasing fees...) but it’s the best way to shift stuff you don’t want. EDIT: anyone want some clothes? http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/fleabassuk - mostly sh*t, but then you'd be shocked at some of the sh*t that people buy off ebay
  5.
yeah i went to the gallery. very unfriendly lol. guess he didn't like a 16 year old coming in with 2 of his mates!
That’s the first I've heard of that kind of thing at The Gallery - sounds more like the customer service you’d expect at The Bass Cellar. Hmm…
  6.
so that means you gotta get out there and play basses?
pretty much - the more you play, the more you'll understand what you like and dislike
  7.
Not sure I get it. Unless you bought the expensive chainsawed Encore?
I think his van is on the way out so he's shifting it on ebay...
  8.
gorgeous, interesting way of restringing on the tuning posts too!
I was going to ask about this…
  9. I'll be in London next weekend so if it's still available then I'll take the Ritter please I'll be mostly around Pinner/Harrow and Twickenham so I'll PM you about logistics closer to the time if it's not taken by next weekend.
  10.
Sorry, had to do it
sh*t man, I almost pissed myself – that is f***ing funny.
  11. I don’t get the attraction of old Squires? I’d think long and hard about paying half that for a Squire.
  12. Bought the Muse CD/DVD of the 2007 Haarp tour in a 2 for £10 deal from HMV yesterday and amazing
  13.
LOL stick to bass playing instead of bus driving!
sound advice indeed Good luck with the sale anyway, looks like this could be a nice little doer-upper for someone.
  14.
London? Harrogate not Haringey. And i really have no idea of price.
sorry, my bad Geography fail
  15. Any idea of a price? I'm in London next weekend - I kind of fancy having a go at doing this up for the right price, but due to an ongoing Jazz project, I don't have a lot of cash to play with... Could be interested though.
  16.
here's a vverrry interesting Gibson related article and its quality control practices: http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/new/node/240
very interesting
  17.
It's simple, Gibson keep all the great Gibson's in America, they send the lumps of muck over to Europe. So if you want a good Gibson, you go to America for it. A friend of mine came back with a Gibson from the USA and it kicks the ass off every other one I've played, ever. Same with Japanese manufacturers, though what they send out is brilliant anyway - the absolutely exceptional stuff is sold in Japan. You have to remember, we're not really worth much for their income. Gibson make 85% of their cash from there American sales, we're pocket money.
Before this “credit crunch” and the pound lost all its value against the dollar, it would have worked out about the same to fly to New York, buy a top end American made bass/guitar (Gibson, Fender, etc…), stay there for one night and then fly back the next day as it would cost you to buy the instrument in the UK (but only if you get away with the import duty :brow: ). I almost done this, but looking at my finances now, I’m glad I didn’t

    Reliability

In my experience, EHX are more reliable than MXR, but the most reliable pedals I've ever used are the classic Boss ones - never had one go bad on me, ever.
  19. i don't get what was actualy happening though? anyone know what the siuation was? looked to me like all the crowd were almost backing up the twat in the white shirt. Quite honestly, the dude in the black shirt should have smashed the other guys face in, but full credit to him for remaining calm.
  20.
Nice Im currently looking for a jazz body and neck to do the same I dont have much money though so im trying to do it on the cheap Where did you get this one
Yeah I’m doing this on a tight budget as well. I’ve been lucky with my parts so far and it’s coming in at a great price for me. I picked up the body from Chopthebass who was looking to sell up a lot of his stuff as he’s moving out to Canada. It’s a great body and just needs routing and finishing up, then lacquering (although I’m toying with the idea of using beeswax instead of lacquer). This should be great when I’m done, but there’s a long way to go and I’m a bit nervous…
Oh yeah of course, i remember you asking about the routing. Did you make the body yourself? I was thinking about doing something similar, making a jazz bass and making the body myself from ash, but i decided not to because it would be a bit expensive... and i probably dont have the right tools/experience
Nah there’s no way I’ve got the skills/knowhow to make the body myself from scratch, although one day in the distant future I’ll be giving it a go.
We should A/B this with my Celinder when you're done.
Yeah definitely, but I’m predicting the only similarities will be the shape/size of the body due to the fact that I’m using budget(ish) parts – Gotoh 201 bridge, Artec SE3 3 band pre with Artec J/J pickups, and a Mighty Mite maple Jazz neck probably with Wilkinson tuners – we’ll see how all that pans out though.
