  1. +1 on the clusterflux. It beats all the others I've owned. I have a warped vinyl too which is amazing for vibes but the clusterflux still beats it for chorus.
  2. In the middle of my left hand where my fingers meet my palm, there's a bit there that goes underneath the neck of a bass. The trick here is that conveniently, that hand is connected to my arm and as long as I remember to take my arm to the gig I don't have a problem with neck dive.
  3. Lehle / RMI sonic spark is a great boost with eq. Great tone and when you boost the bass it stays tight, not muddy. I'd recommend that.
  4. If you really want to dial in the mids try the stone deaf Fig Fumb, full para eq. If you worry about being heard then again I'd suggest the silver rose. The eau Clair side does meaty doom bass and low mids, the super fuzz side does high end and high mids, there's also a clean channel. By blending all three channels you can make yourself heard. Easily. It's also insanely loud. I had to get tom at cog to make a little volume cut box to drop the output.
  5. Had a stache and sold it. It seemed pretty decent but I found it got a bit lost. In terms of the heavy chorus and octave use, me too... I find the COG stuff works well with those and also the Dwarfcraft eau Clare / silver rose. Black arts pharaoh seems a good shout for the bass too.
  6. For me anyway. The big Cali kicked in too early for me so by the time I lowered the input and raised the output it was all hiss.
  7. For Sale, my mint compressor pro. Great unit, ultimately I would love to keep it as I like this a lot. It's a tie between this and the Cali CB and unfortunately the keeley doesn't fit on my cramped board as well. For me this beats the empress, diamond and the big Cali. Box, paperwork etc included. No trades please unless fuzz based. Shipping with UK special delivery £10
  8. For sale, my Octron octave pedal. Fully working condition with box, paperwork etc. £120.00 no trades please, unless fuzz based. Shipping would be special delivery Uk £10.00
  9. mIne arrived today. Really nice quality finish and feel. Solid build. After a quick fiddle it seems really nice but I'll get a better play over the weekend and try to review a bit more. In short tho, a great unit. I liked the tone and feel of the original large unit which I sold because I found I couldn't get a tone which breathed enough, it always seemed to choke the notes. The mini one fixes that problem with the HPF. Also with the dry blend you get exactly what it says on the tin, your usual tone with a beefier bottom end blended in. I say usual tone, it's not 100% transparent but it does have a nice tone. I guess depending on your own goals this may be a deal breaker but I can't imagine anything else being a problem for most. So far so good.

  11. Years ago I went to buy an svt 3 and it was nothing like an SVT, it clipped quite easily and the tone was wanting. Ended up with a rack mount ashdown RC500 which was far better tone wise, until it broke. Twice. I loaned a cab to an SVT 3 owner and he blew a cone at a gig. My suggestion would be stick your monique thru a power amp. There are plenty used bargains out there. I put together a Sansamp (£300)and used Crest Ca6 rack (£150) which is way louder than any valve amp I've owned and would smoke the SVT 3 tone. Any good valve pre with a decent power amp should do the trick. The GT200 I got recently reignited my valve love so the Sansamp has been replaced with an Aguilar pre and it's heavenly. If you don't want to go the monique route and want an ampeg vibe, the Arkham sound Zephyr looks like a good shout. I was going to get one until I got the Aguilar pre.
