1. I just replied to your DDT post. Didn't try the dunlops as I used the standard ones and found I preferred the DRs/DDT
2. I've been using them for a while with no probs as I usually use DRs anyway. The problem with Drop D is with normal strings or DDTs there is always a difference in feel/tension/tone from the bottom string compared to the other three. It's like the old 5 string issue, when you get the amp set right for the D string, the others dont quite have the same tone and vice versa. I guess that's where Dingwalls come in... That is part of the charm tho, it's what gives Drop D the heaviness/looseness. So ultimately the DDTs will give you a little more tension for a better D but maybe a little more on the other three strings which may raise the action a little. Best plan is just using a heavier 110 or 115 with a standard set. You can pretty much build custom gauges of DR strings from bassstringsonline in the U.S. for cheaper or the same than a set here. Try a few and see what you like. I've gone from 110/85/65/45 high beams to 110/85/65/45 DDTs but I now play drop C# so I have 115/90/70/50 DDTs which are pretty thick but you get used to it quickly. You may find the tension a bit tight for standard or drop D tho. The DDTs do also have a different Tone to high beams but not enough to make me change. The only others I found in that 115 gauge were GHS Boomers which are much cheaper and sound decent enough.
3. Lots of people want a GT 200 There is interest if you would ship it! I ended up buying a new one cos you wouldn't put it on a pallet for me to collect. I'd still happily take the cab off your hands so if you change your mind please PM me.
4. Love the les Paul sigs. Had one a few years back and regretted selling it. Only cause I needed money. Beautiful basses, even the backs of them are stunning. Lovely Precision tone but more airy.
5. Here's the two I have now. Dunno how to post big pics.
6. Here's one I used to own but I sold it for a bigger one.
7. To confirm then, these two piggies are mine. Here they are having a lie down earlier.
8. Bass gear UK are selling demo dunlop wahs for £100.
9. The TC one is Ok, like most choruses. I would definitely try the Moog if it's deep and rich you are after. I have the cluster flux which is still my favourite out of many I've owned. Both it and the minifooger are bucket brigade so should be similar, just the minifooger is simpler. I have a warped vinyl incoming so I'm keen to see if that knocks the Moog off my board.
10. This is nearly finished. I'm waiting for two more pedals and it's done.
11. Cheers. I love it. Nice and simple. Don't want to derail Paul's thread but it's matt black too.
12.
Haven't got a clue...I really don't know my woods. I sometimes wonder whether it actually makes that much difference to be honest...it doesn't really matter what I play, they always end up sounding fairly similar! I'm assuming it's just a painted up version of the natural finish one (whatever that is): Anyone?
Congrats it's Beautiful. Just beautiful. But since you ask yours should be mahogany unless you asked for something different. The natural one posted above is mine and it's an ash body with maple neck. The other one I have is a mahogany body and maple neck. There's not a huge difference between them tone wise which is good. Enough for a little character change but not enough to re EQ the amp if you switch. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
13. So far yes it is. Just PM me if interested.
14. I used to use a full tone trem with a bass vi and it was luscious. Sure a bit of reverb would be nice too. Loads out there to choose from.
15. I've just bought a quartermaster 8 so this is redundant now. Great working condition. No issues with switches. Original box and paperwork included. Now £80.00 including UK shipping.
16. I'm too far away for you to try mine but I'd be confident you'll like it. Unless you really like the presence on the RBI the advantage of the parametric mids on the RPM is you can lose the mid cut. Or cut/boost whatever you want. You can even replicate the presence on the RBI. It's a great unit. I ran two VTRMs but now I have one RPM in there as you can do more with it. The gain on the RPM I prefer also. In the meantime have you tried backing off the blend to halfway or less? I don't think many people go beyond that because of the scoop from the "tube emulation"
17. I could do that. If you PM me your address I can look at shipping costs.
18. I have two of these great preamps so I'm selling the spare. Less than a year old. Very little use. Great condition boxed with paperwork. I guess £20 should cover the shipping. No trades please.
