1. Again the empress is my current fave. Looking at the new keeley pro tho.
2.
out of interest, what do these weigh in at?
They are bang on 100lbs according to the website.
3.
Great cabs...always wanted one and here you are...Please could you give me at estimate for delivery to Chichester, West Sussex
I'll have a look at that tomorrow and let you know.
4. Hi, It's the standard Nv610 but with a variable tweeter added. Fantastic cab with little use and mint condition. I still have the box. £800 plus shipping. I'm in Edinburgh. Thanks.
5. This is an excellent 12/6 cab which has had living room use only. Sad to see it go, best 12" cab I've ever had compared with bergs, aggie, swr, ashdown I've used previously. Selling as a fundraiser and will probably buy one again. clean with original box. Looking For £450 plus shipping. I'm in Edinburgh and prepared to ship. Open to offers and can supply pics if serious. Thanks.
6. I was about 15, a bit drunk at a party. There was a bass there and for some reason (mostly drink) I decided to plug it in and hit the strings with my cock to see what noise it made. I enjoyed the sound and also the vibrations so I bought one and started a band. I don't think I've not been in a band since. Although I mostly play with a pick now, practice rooms are usually cold places...
7. Try the foxrox octron 2. It does that.
8. I doubt one will become available, theres not many around. Just order one up sir. The benefit over the gibsons, aside from being far better in every way, is you can choose what woods you want. If the standard mahogany deal is a little dark and you want a bit more grind, throw some maple or ash in there. It would work for the stuff you do. Mine is a maple/ash combo and I just got this in from Mike below, a maple mahogany oversized PT4 Matt black. I know, it's not a t bird...
9.
Now that is a beaut! Have you still got it?
Don't have it any longer. It was a looker but pretty badly made for an expensive custom instrument. I can't say the same about my latest arrival which is proving to be a bugger to photograph but most definitely black. A matt black Lull PT4.
10. 1. Not that bad. Depends how you position it. The hand you use for fretting can hold the neck at the same time. 2. Yes and yes. It's not purely t birds but all that nitro lacquer also makes them like trying to hold an eel when you're sweating all over it. 3. Not any more so than any jazz style bass. It's all the mahogany that makes it a little darker sounding. Bright strings will add a little top. 4. Yes if you have short arms no if you don't. 5. Very thin on the modern Gibson ones. Thinner than a jazz. Older ones are fatter. Epiphones are fatter too. It's the kind of bass that can be off putting at first but you adapt and get used to it. I've played them for years and still do. Look at any notable T bird player and they can generally manage to play a full on sweaty rock show without having to stop mid song shouting "stop stop the necks diving and the body's leaning away from me" Man up and get one!
11. I just got a sonic spark from RMI/lehle. Very transparent with added tone shaping if you want. Recommended.
12. You can use the effects loop in the pedal as a cut/boost or put another pedal in the loop to add further eq options if needed. The other RMI / lehle pedals are very transparent so shouldn't mess with your tone.
13.
Bass Direct have a red one for 'only' £3K. I'd have to shift a couple of basses, but in truth I'd only go for the black model. I have an American mate who visits these shores on business a few times a year...that alone could save me a few ££s. Ack, we'll see. P
Yeah the black one was very tempting. If your man in the US can bring you one it would definitely help. Lead times are quite long now as mikes work gets more popular.
14.
Says 20% on Lull's website http://www.mikelull.com/site/instruments/signature/signature-ament.html
It does say that yes but it's wrong. In an interview with Mike, Ament asked for 20% but it was too big apparently so they went with 15.
15. Nancy, if you are thinking hard, they are sooooo good. Very special basses. I had a collection of around twenty vintage gibsons and fenders and now I just have this. It spanks everything. I've played Tbirds for years, new and vintage and again the Lull is king. My guitarist mate played it and now has a Lull fx guitar. The build quality is excellent and the tone is deep and full. The advantage over the mahogany Gibsons is you can spec the lulls with maple/ash/alder so you can give it more cut than a gibson. I have a Maple/ash one and I have mahogany/ maple oversized PT4 on order. For me the oversized body (15% not 20% as Brandon says) makes total sense as regular basses/ Tbirds always felt small to me. One other advantage is it then makes everything else you play feel like a toy so it instantly cures GAS. Aside from the Lull I just ordered I haven't bought a bass in three years. You're a T bird man so I'm pretty sure you will like them. It fixes all the problems on the regular gibsons. Also the neck is a little fatter on the lull. Do it.
16. I had a 2024x which was the best passive PJ bass I ever owned. Beat all the vintage fenders/gibsons I had owned previously. Bombproof build and great to play. I can highly recommend them.
