1975 Fender Jazz all original vintage blonde
tonyxtiger replied to tonyxtiger's topic in Basses For Sale
Thanks for the interest guys. To answer some of the questions this is a typical three bolt 70's beast with a fair weight. Guessing between 10-11lbs based on the bathroom scales. I never minded that as I like something to get hold of... Its a money raising exercise but feel free to message me if you have any trades in mind. You never know. cheers. I am regretfully selling my 1975 Blonde Fender Jazz. Good working condition. All original. Fender hard case included but not original. finish has a few dings and marks as you would expect and has aged to a custardy creme colour. Neck and frets are good with plenty life left. Nice example with a full fat tone. Easily betters the current 75 reissues. looking for offers around the £2000.00 mark as I paid more for this a few years back. thanks for looking. not saying I've got OCD but aren't twins compulsory?. Maybe its a ying yang thing but so far I've had 3 x stingrays 3 x precisions 7 x jazzes 3 x telecasters 4 x thunderbirds 3 x RDs 2 x Rippers 2 x BB2024x maybe not all at the same time but at least in twos. Isn't that why they make them in different colours? It's the way forward.

To answer the recent questions... I can't part with them, Its killing me but needs must so I have to be strong and try to let them go. The recent BBs I bought are not the reason I'm selling but they are killer basses and would recommend them to anyone. (and rippers are a bit like BBs anyway) I would take a left or a right arm as long as it was holding some cash

I have just put my Stryker up on ebay with a tear in my eye. If anyone fancies making an offer on this or the orange head I'm selling please get in touch. Can't believe I have to sell it so please don't post the usual "don't do it" threads... I would sell the family instead but I reckon I'll get more for this. Buzzard headstock, ziricote, figured maple, mahogany with tone chambers, tigerstripe ebony board, thru neck, massive flightcase - its huge and daft but absolutely amazing. Every bit as good as it looks. Its pretty mint and it's basically going for half price. starting at £2600.00 If you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly! more pics on ebay. anyone after an eden 8x10 cab, ported with tweeter 1200watts 4 ohms... mint condition and hardly used. Impulse buy but too big for my current project. my loss, your gain? Its a phenomenal tight sounding 8 x 10. I don't have pics yet but soon hopefully. I could probably deliver within 100miles of Edinburgh. I could also courier but that may be quite expensive. Looking for a quick sale price of £500.00 any takers?

These basses are truly magnificent. I have the white 2024x Mark had at bass direct and have reserved another as they are that good. Usually when you read about all the "features" of a new bass its mostly hype but this time I was impressed. Its a real sum of its parts and all the little extra things they have done to justify the pricetag have worked. I have old school tastes and searched for an old fender / gibson that would stand up to being played loud, hard and even detuned. Nothing holds up like the Yamaha does but its no way a modern sounding bass. Yamaha are pretty anal about the details but I find their whole range has no soul. I never wanted to play something with a code instead of a name. The BBs always had a bit more soul and this one is Killer. Its a fat grinding rock bass but its just as happy with the treble rolled off to sound like a nice old fender. And the tone pot actually works all the way round in a usable way rather than the fender style which is pretty all or nothing. Its the first bass I've found that holds together the way an active bass does but with the tones of a passive bass - believe me I've tried a lot. I've waited years for them to make this bass as the cheaper ones are terrible. anyway hope this helps, if you like the idea of it and understand what yamaha were going for with this then you won't be disappointed when you get one.

I might have to look into the matamp then. seems one slipped thru the net... on the subject of reliability the mesa has been faultless. The orange has similarly been good but it is technically the third. When I bought it the first one blew up and it was replaced. the replacement blew up and I was given a third. I can only hope it was a bad batch as the third has been fine. I'm glad I stuck with it. Both of these have been gigged and I've had no problems except blown fuses due to sharing with idiots who can't grasp the concept of power on first, wait, then standby. Then the reverse to switch off. Usually its just both on at the same time, both off at the same time and then they start giving you a confused look like your amp is a piece of sh*t even though they don't even have one. This has got me thinking was there ever a thread started on the subject of "How can you turn up at a venue to play a gig and not have any gear?" Is it just me or does every gig involve a gumby asking you "who's the bass player? can I use your gear mate? I haven't got an amp?" or my personal favourite, not even asking but just wandering up after your soundcheck and just plugging in like its their own. Do they offer to bung you a few quid or are they around at the end of the nite to help you load the van? are they f***! what do these guys do at rehersal, hum the bassline thru a microphone? I'm all for the punk ethic but I just couldn't sleep at night being that much of a tw*t. anyway, that's off my chest now. back to topic... look after your valve amp and it will look after you. when you get fed up carting the weight around buy the aguilar 750. Its a heavy amp too but not valve heavy. Any solid state power amps I used were always terrible for me in that you just got lost in the room. SWR - lovely hifi tone when you play it, the band kicks in and its lost. Ampeg pre with a solid state power amp - same thing. Nothing held up like a valve power section until I got the aguilar. I was old school for years, has to be valves and has to be big solid heavy cabs for bass. unfortunately technology has caught up.
