thought I'd chip in as I've had all of these... That sounds like I'm showing off but I'm trying to help honest. I still have an Orange AD200. Great amp, great tone breaks up far nicer than the ampeg and can go really dirty. Good volume for a 200 watt as long as you go for the KT88 version. Fat old school but very tight and growly. Not old school flubby indistict like an ampeg VB4 100w head or the Newer ampeg CLs. Drive the Ampegs and they fall to pieces tonally. Kills me to say it but avoid the ampegs. The mids are great but everything else is poor. The big Aguilar head (the 750) is the best ampeg replacement. Daft given it has a s/s power amp but try one. I still have mine and its fantastic. As you can imagine I am very much a believer in valves but after I started using the aguilar I shut up pretty quick. Humble pie all round. Believe the hype on these amps. The Trace V8 was very loud and very clean, tons of power, again KT88s. Good rock amp if you want the power and keeping it clean. Basically Ashdown make a new version of that head now as the BFA If you want a rock amp that sounds a bit more hairy, go Orange / Boogie. Again the Hiwatt head I really convinced myself I was going to like and it was the worst of the bunch. No bottom end whatsoever. It must have been a bad 'un because I can't believe they would make a bass amp that sounds so thin. The mesa 400+ I still have. Its a killer. Clean and powerful with headroom and fantastic for rock. works well when you drive it or use overdrive pedals. It will easily compete with two guitars and a kit. Used this for 10 years in loud bands and was always heard. Best amp period for staying in the mix at rehearsals. Great definition and punch and gives you a lot of confidence. Don't think I've ever needed to have the master set past 6. Pair it with an 8x10 or a 4x12 and it's all you need. Any amp can overdrive but Grit, growl, drive, distortion whatever you want to call it - its pointless on the bass if the amp can't hold it together so your still driving things along with the bottom end intact. my two all valve winners are the orange and Mesa. Engineers love them, band mates smile when you play them. Safe with both but Mesa is the better choice for competing with the volume of 2 stacks. I'm selling a few basses at the moment and I'm considering selling my 400+ along with a 4 x 10 and 2 x 10 boogie cabs. The older 90's ones with the EV drivers, again, rock classics. I don't play as full on these days so I don't really need a rig like this now. let me know if you are interested or have any questions. hope this helps?

thanks for the kind words on the coronado. It is a cracker and "mint condish" to use the school of rock terminology. Not a refinish, just crazy sixties fender guys injecting dyes into beechwood to get colourful grain patterns. I see some of you have covered this already. I agree the antigua ones are also great. I remember seeing some beauties on the Olivias Vintage site. Anyway I am selling these purely as a fundraiser. The coronado I really would like to ask more for but I'm being realistic given the fact noone has much spare money at the moment and selling off their treasures on basschat. It's a buyers market people, take advantage... all the best and thanks for the interest. Incidently if these do go on ebay don't feel you have missed out because likely they will be relisted after being bid on by some twelve year old in europe who will not have the money and back out. i'm not bitter... -
Hi, for anyone who's interested I'm selling a Heavy Reliced USA Fender Jazz 75 reissue, A 68 Fender Coronado II Wildwood, A G&L L2000 with Audere preamp and Nordstrand musicman pickups and possibly a Gibson RD maple I have listed the first three on ebay but not the RD as I'm still trying to get the nerve up to sell it. here's a few pics but there's more on ebay, contact me if you are interested. Theres a few watchers but there's also a lot of timewasters so if no success on the ebay I may be open to offers. cheers, Darren [attachment=33029:IMG_2838.JPG] [attachment=33030:IMG_2872.JPG] [attachment=33031:IMG_2730.JPG]

I'm offering this up before ebaying for anyone who's interested. Looking for offers around £850.00 Fender case included. This is a 75 reissue which has had the relic treatment. Nicely done and the sanded neck is nice too. Most of the RI's I've played over the last few years have been pretty inconsistent. Thankfully this one is one of the earlier reissues from a few years back and not only is nicely set up but sounds great. see pics. I'm offering this before it goes on ebay. Anyone interested please contact me. Looking for offers around £1400.00. Condition is used but still very good. It has one scuff on the front upper rear section. Blackbird case included. I've had a few T-Birds and this one is the nicest player. Shame to get rid of it really but I need the money. anyone unfamiliar with these can find info online but don't be put off by the signature model stuff. This one really works. Because there is no volume and tone pots the output is hardwired to the output jack and sounds much fuller with more bite. A really good sounding T-Bird. See pics attached [attachment=26965:IMG_2724.JPG] [attachment=26966:IMG_2727.JPG] [attachment=26967:IMG_2723.JPG] [attachment=26968:IMG_2721.JPG]

I'm offering this up before I ebay it so please contact me if you're interested. I'm hoping for offers around £1200.00 as the condition is very good. Seldom seen RD's still original that haven't been battered. Maple body and neck, ebony board. Case included. See attached pics [attachment=26962:IMG_2634.JPG] [attachment=26963:IMG_2640.JPG] [attachment=26964:IMG_2638.JPG]

[attachment=25836:IMG_2275.JPG]Heres a pic of the RD's and some other Gibsons I'm considering selling. Usual story, I'd like to raise some money but don't really want to sell any of them if I can help it. At this stage I'm thinking of selling the Black RD Standard and maybe the Maple RD Artist. I would also consider selling one of the Blackbirds and maybe the Sunburst 76 Bicentennial Thunderbird. I also have a mint collectors grade 77 Telecaster Bass with tags I'm selling. The Black RD I'm looking for £1200.00 and the RD Artist £1600.00 as these are all original, fully operational, very good examples with original cases. Better than anything else I've seen on ebay over the years. I'm open to offers as a few people have expressed interest. I can supply detailed pics if anyone's serious. Happy to answer any questions. Thanks for looking, Darren.
