I thought I'd see if there's any interest from anyone towards my rockbass. It's two year old, bought knew from the bass cellar, and is in good condition with only a superficial ding or two. I think pricewise, since on GAK they've got it on a megadeal for £240, that £150 would be reasonable. Am in Bristol during term time, and North London for the rest of it. If there's interest i'll chuck up some pictures, in the mean time, it's transparent red.

Has Basschat had a negative effect on your wallet?
ZMech replied to lateralus462's topic in General Discussion
Just bought playbass's old rig, so yes. On a vagually related note; is it wierd that despite that my new rig hasn't even arrived yet, I just browsed through the used amps section? -
I managed to stumble across this. I'd tell you what it's a competition for, but that's the whole point of it. any ideas?

Did anyone else notice the drummer for duffy? he was bouncing about really strangely, more so than most drummers

Had a bowl of good ol' crunchy nut, with some scrambled egg about an hour. Mostly due to the majority of my mates still being half passed out in various locations around my house, so couldn't be arsed with a fry up. Suprisingly, the bit my parents were confused about wasn't why my mate, asleep on the bathroom floor, had half his face covered in permenant marker, but why there was a perfect line of four standing wine bottles in the back garden.

Is there pudding? I love pudding, especially with brandy. On second thoughts, can you skip the pudding and just give me the brandy insead?

Well the good news is that my dads friend has agreed to let me use his workshop to make a cab. The bad news is that this is an awfully long thread, and I'm a lazy teenager. Is there a somewhat more abreviated version? I'm also in need of advice about what wood to use if that makes a difference. Please don't rinse me for being a lazy sod

I realised that in the last couple of months I'm not sure wether i've spent more time playing bass than looking at basschat. whilst i was working this summer there was definitely more basschat. Anyone else have the same problem?

I'm not a fan of solid colour finishes, but I do love a nice bit of translucent colouring. both my basses are red with the grain visible through them (tinted red flamed maple = sweet aesthetic goodness).
I know this is a bit pathetic but I can't come up with a way to weigh this cab. Only thing I can say is, as it has a Neo speaker fitted it is much lighter than other 15" cabs I have owned. You can carry it on your own although due to its size this is not the easiest of things over a long distance. The cab has a set of casters fitted for this purpose.
that's not so pathetic, we dont have a single set of scales in our house, other than those for food. It really is very tempting, but the fact that it's about 2 miles to nearby venues, coupled with the fact that i live on a 3rd floor without a lift, means unfortunately I shall pass on this. Good luck though, someone's going to get a fantastic deal with this i'm sure.

Surely this should count as having surplus stock? and therefore you should put them on sale for a special discounted price...

South East Bass Bash, Saturday 27th September: NEW INFO!
ZMech replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
I may not be able to come. I'm leaving for uni on sunday, so depending on how much packing I get done this evening, I may have to spend saturday getting everything ready! I guess it'll help me not spend my much needed student loan though. -
£20 seems a great price, since I'd pay that just to see Richard Bona and Yolanda Charles, and having seen both of them live already I can say they are seriously good. Shame it's in such a silly place!!

http://www.alembic.com/info/woodsamples.html this might help. Should give you a good idea of most woods found in basses, and some pretty good bass porn too if you click on the thumbnails. Check out the ziricote, that might suit your needs.

Bass Shapes (jazz, bass, singlecut, completely original)
ZMech replied to EBS_freak's topic in Bass Guitars
With the exception of electric guitars and electric basses, what other musical instruments have significant stylistic variation within the species? You never hear a trumpet player complaining about the fact that all trumpets look the same. S.P.
I once saw a trumpeter, I think it was Eric Darius, who said he was fed up with not being able to have an individual sax in the was guitarists do their guitars, so he had someone do a zebra paintjob on his sax. Was pretty cool. I think guitars are different from most other instruments, in that the shape of the body doesn't have much acoustical effect, whereas you can't really start tinkering with the shape of the tubes in your trumpet. -
Bass Shapes (jazz, bass, singlecut, completely original)
ZMech replied to EBS_freak's topic in Bass Guitars
If I'm going to spend the kind of money usually involved in a decent bass, I don't really want something that looks like everything else i.e. fender basses. At V fest I think I counted only 3 basses that weren't fenders, or perhaps just fender shaped, 2 of which were musicmans. Oh yes, and singlecuts that go halfway up the neck just look a bit silly to me.
