1. Tbh the sound I'm kind of trying to get close to is Tim Commerford's on Battle of Los Angeles - I think he uses a Wah pedal a fair bit on that album (I may be wrong though and be after something completely different!!!!!) like the verse sound on "Born as Ghosts""
 2. I'm after a Wah but I'm not really sure what to go for. Any suggestions for wah pedals that work well with bass?
 3. I really like the look of this. Seems like it's going to be far too expensive though. One thing I don't quite get as well - They're obviously making a big deal about the fact these amps and cabs are made in the US - Then why the f**k is there a union jack on the front of all the cabs???
 4.
MArchall Jackhammer is a great pedal! It's good to see it get a mention. The EQ options make it really good for bass.
For sure - I've got one and it's my favorite pedal at the moment - Capable of some truly truly phat sounds.
 5. I think it probably was a bargain. 132 quid - that's got to be cheap.
 6.
hi guys, i have a beautiful 1977 jazz that plays like butter BUT, the neck pickup has a low output. (the bridge sounds ace!) i bought another set of 77 pups and dropped them in and exactly the same thing occurred!!! this was wiring them straight to the jack, in all possible configurations, and ive swapped the signal leads and the ground leads to the pickup and everything, and now im proper stuck!! also the tone pot dosen't seem to do a lot! please help me guys!! it eems unlikley that 2 sets ov pickups would do the same thing
Did you try raising the pickup height?
 7.
Soooo How would you describe what it means in three words or less? It's just jargon and as such it conveys a concept to the knowing in an easy way. If we did away with jargon in life we'd all have to type and talk a lot more. It can be frustrating to be outside the group that knows what it means but once you've crossed that barrier it makes things easier.
"Tight" and "Groove" 2 words that describe what this means perfectly. It's just one of those phrases that I really don't like. Almost as bad as guitards describing their sound as "blue"
 8. Black. or a nice see through Black, or Black. I had to play a red bass the other day cos mine broke just before a gig. I hated it.
 9.
Um, not really - it's a good way of saying; "he's right in the groove" etc - it's been around for years and nothing to do with being a mega-muso - John Entwhistle had a great pocket groove, as does Paul MacCartney, as did James Jamerson, Jaco - Billy Sheehan can grind a great funky line as can Flea... Etc etc M
I'm not saying it doesn't make sense - I just think it's a crap way of saying it.
 10.
Muso 'Abstract' expression No:45
Musicians talk a load of s**t really don't they
 11. What a stupid f**king expression.
 12. I paid 499.00 for a brand new EVO II version of this amp at Andertons about 8 months ago. Methinks this is a tiny bit overpriced!!!
 13.
Ok, so this is still going, due to size limitations. Its a big deep cab, hence its big deeep sound. Decent hardware on this, might get stripped soon if no-one claims. It moves easily.
I'd be interested if it was a bit closer to me - although I might be in Bristol in a couple of weeks time.
 14. I don't mind lending my amp, as long as they ask before hand - I will refuse to let people use my gear if they haven't bothered to ask beforehand, especially when I know the promoter has given them my mobile no. in order to sort out what was going on with backline - How hard is it to pick up the f**king phone!!!
 15.
Hmmm... I just found some very recent posts on the Lexicon forum that would suggest that the unit has issues, which is worrying.. Apparently there is a design fault. Lexicon, it seems forgot to add heatsinks to the power regulators.. now I'm no genius, but even *I* would fit them when building projects! So maybe leave that one and look for something else until such times that they address the problem.
That's not good - would certainly put me off buying one. Shame though a couple of my friends have had these and said they were really good interfaces.
 16.
Really interested in knowing if anyone has used one of these? Lexicon Omega Interface http://www.lexiconpro.com/ProductIndex.aspx?ProductID=6
I've not used one myself, but I've heard good things about them - I think these were nearly 300 quid when they first came out - looks like you can pick them up for just over 100 now seems like good value.
 17.
Damn that's typical innit... that's why I decided to switch fully to using Macs as the audio software available just seemed to be better catered for, not that there's anything wrong with PC solutions in terms of quality, it's just things like Garageband and Logic (and Pro tools) all work on a mac... I tried using Cubase and it did my head in... though Logic has it's own set of quirks, I just can't afford Pro tools. OK, here's the updated one I used to use from Tascam the US 122 (which I had to replace as the old one didn't like the new Mac OS) this one looks ace and seems to like both Windows and Mac looks even cheaper than the Mackie, it works a treat as well, It's exactly £100 as well! http://www.thomann.de/gb/tascam_us122_l.htm Well worth getting IMO M
I'd definitely recommend these Tascam interfaces - I used one of the older ones for years and never ever had a problem with it. Also they do a similar firewire interface for about 100 quid http://www.dv247.com/invt/38097/product.ht...c1181_a_7c38097 which also has transport controls etc. looks like a good buy - and according to the Tascam website it's also Vista comaptible as well.
 18.
Get some gigs near me!
Dude - if you know any promoters near you let me know - we're quite happy to travel.
 19. More dates added for November and new recordings should be up on the myspace site soon!!!!
 20. Played at the Jazz CLub in Reading this evening and had a complete shocker. First off my bass decided it was going to develop an intermittent fault with it's electronics rendering it completely unusable, meaning that the keyboard player had to rush home to grab his bass for me to borrow (I only have the one) which meant no soundcheck. Gig sound was diabolical all I could hear was the guitarist's oversized marshall stack cos it was about 3inches from my right ear, and I've discovered that I do not get on with Jazz basses at all!!! I had about 30 secs to get used to the bass before our set - but despite all of this we didn't play too badly. All in all todays been the worst day I've had for a long time - Not just because the gig wasn't fun but for a whole heap of other reasons as well. Great venue though. Load in etc. easy, reasonable PA and great atmosphere. Not really suitable for loud rock bands though!!!
 21.
Very astute.
I thought so
 22.
Is the reason to why everyone hates Hucknall because he's ginger and has alot more money than all of us and can get around girls pretty easily? Or is it just trendy to not like him?
I don't like him cos he's a twat
 23. First gig with new material @ The Cellar Bar in Bracknell last night Fair few people turned up and a great atmosphere - sound was good although we were very very loud (bass especially ) Only major f**k up was having to restart our 2nd song cos the drummer went to pieces, but apart from that everything went smoothly. Pain in the ass gettin the gear in and out though - Venue is down some horrible steep stairs.
 24. About a fiver - will you take a cheque?
 25. My pedal chain currently looks like this: Boss ODB-3 - EHX Bass Balls - Marshall Jackhammer - Flanger - Limiter I find this works quite well as running the ODB-3 into the Bass Balls gives some quite nice synthy sounds, and running the bass balls into the Jackhammer gives more of a glitchy sort of sound (especially with the dist switch on the Bass Balls turned on) so I'm happy with that part of the chain. What I can't work out is whether the Limiter should go before or after the flanger. Sound different both ways and I can't decide which one I like better - What order do people usually put these sort of fx in?
