I've just upgraded my cabs so here is a home made 1x15 bass cab free to collect from Woking Surrey or I can deliver very locally. I got it dirt cheap on the Bay and it works fine. It's a bit tatty, but is pretty light weight and has handles on the side. I have no idea of wattage or ohmage so it's a case of suck it and see. Please note this is just for the cab, yer not having me little Pervey!
PM sent
4. Hi All, I have just sorted out a new OD/Distortion pedal and I don't think I'm going to be using my Boss ODB-3 anymore. It's not that I don't like the pedal it's just I fancied a bit of a change. It's in perfect working order, although the case has a few chips (like any other pedal that's been used in anger) Basically I'd like to trade this for another pedal - specifically a wah if anyones got one going spare, but I am open to other suggestions. Let me know what you've got. Cheers Chris
5. Swapped a pedal with Rich - turned up within a day and couldn't of been any easier. Nice one. Chris
6. Like the title says - feel free to say nice things about me.
7. I'm playing the following shows in November: 7th November - The Star, Guildford - 7:30pm - £5 15th November - The Brewery Tap, Reading - £3 20th Novemeber - The Grey Horse, Kingston - £4 Hope to see you there, Cheers Chris
8.
Hey man, Warpig has first dibs on the body, I need to get some proper pics of it first too, which should happen this weekend. If he doesn't want it though, you're next in line. Hope that's cool... Eude
No Problem.
9. If the Jazz body's still available I might be interested.
10. My band's called Within Our Rights - you can check us out here It's kind of alternative rock type stuff.
11. I have one of these that I bought off here a while ago, just to use on one song, and as we've now dropped that song from our set it's just sat on my pedalboard not being used. I'm interested in trades for other pedals, especially fuzz and distortions. Let me know what you got. Cheers Chris (I'll post some pics later when I get home from work)
12.
hey bass people, iv'e got an ashdown powered sub in my garage, and was wondering if any one has one as iv'e never seen another , it's for knocking buildings down i think !!! anyone else seen or used one ?? cheers kev
never seen one - but I want one
13. I'll take a ticket - PM me the details and I'll pop a cheque in the post
14.
I don't know about the Brandoni kits but you could get all the bits seperate like I did with my ebay special. I bought a VMJ with a Stagg neck for £75, Mighty Mite Jazz neck £57 Schaller machine heads £18.40 and a hipshot string retainer for £6.45. The WD kit is hardware only, you have to get a body and neck on top.
I think this is probably what I'll end up doing - Try and source a cheap body and neck from somewhere (I have machine heads and a badass bridge already so it's only really pickups and electronics I'd need on top of that anyway)
15. I'm thinking about putting a Jazz style bass together from parts and was wondering whether anyone has any experiences or recommendations on the kits available from Brandoni or elsewhere? I'd be on a fairly tight budget but don't want something that's going to be sh*t.
16.
I really liked the reverb on the vocals - it added character to the mix and seemed to set the whole band in a room - which I like. To be fair if you're going for radio play maybe it's a bit too much on the weird side?
I like the reverb as well, but listening back and as Ped pointed it out it might be a tad harsh in places - I think I may keep the reverb as is but just try to soften the sound a bit (I think the main problem is the small amount of plate reverb that is on the Vocal along with the reverb for the main mix, I may try reducing the level of this slightly to see how it sounds)
17.
Didn't get as far as the solo'd bit - the ODB-3 has that kind of nasty s/s distortion though it's often lost once the rest of the band is playing.
Not if you use the blend control and eq properly!!!
18. I want this bass - if I wasn't facing redundancy at the moment I'd definitely be interested!!!
19. We have 5 at the moment. I've only ever been in 3 pieces really before this one but I think I prefer it - although it's quite tricky at times with the Keys and bass occupying the same sort of frequency range - I think I might just chop his left hand off - that should solve the problem.
20.
Superb - I like a lot of your tracks. Thanks for the link. Perhaps the only thing I would change is the reverb on the vocals is a bit bright and metallic sounding in places. The bass sound works well. Quite big and round, juxtaposes quite nicely against the bright piano and guitar, fills a lot of space. Nice. ped
Thanks - I think I agree with your point on the reverb, but that won't be too hard to change. And thanks for the positive comments on the bass sound it was a complete bitch to get that sounding right.
21.
Yeh no problem, sorry I couldn't come up with any criticism, but it does sound really good.
That's alright mate - and thanks again for taking the time to listen.
22.
I PM'd for an mp3 to listen to in the car and......... The mix is perfect in my opinion. If I was doing it personally, I would do things a little differently, but it wouldn't be any better. I think the mix really is spot on, you wouldn't want the bass to cut through any more than it does, the guitar sound is nice, the vocals sound REALLY good, overall it gels really well. As far as the music goes - you have a really good singer there. I would have had a full drum kit come in half way through and turned it into a rock-power balled type of thingy - it could make a good single! The chord progressions are really strong, and the bassline fits to it really well. Nice one!
Cheers mate glad you like it - it's good to hear other peoples opinions on this, just for a sanity check. Live we do exactly that - Drums come in halfway through just on the high hat and bass drum (second verse) and the drummer does some stuff on the Toms/snare during the chorus which works nicely. To be honest the only reason it's not like that on this version is the drummer was on holiday while I was recording this. I may take the chance to add some drums to it when we do the next couple of tracks, which are with the full band and a lot heavier. (I'm sure I'll be back on here asking for advice with the next ones as well!!!) Thanks for listening
23. Right - I've uploaded the track to our myspace http://www.myspace.com/withinourrights - the song's called 'Just a shadow' Let me know what you think
24. I had a quick look at the manual for this - it seems that the dry signal is output at that level so it can be fed back into the POD for re-amping. You're right though, the manual gives the impression that you should be getting the dry signal on both channels. Maybe the manual is just badly written
25.
Don't worry - I get the same feelings every time I do a demo. The best thing to do is just keep on comparing to a proffessional disc to reassure yourself. If you want any help you could post up some examples for opinions, or if you're not that into mixing it, upload the data and i'll have a crack at it. Dr Dave - i've done similar things. I got a great sound recording a DI, an SM58 on my cabs about 2 feet away, and a condensor about 6 feet away. I think it only works when the room sounds good though.
Thanks Dude - it would be good to get a second opinion on it - I'll upload a rough mix when I get a chance.
