1. I'm selling my Laney VC50 as I've not got the space to have a spare amp kicking about the house, this is a cracking little 2x12 50w el34 powered combo which can do everthing from super clean right the way through to as much gain as anyone could ever need!!! It's obviously been used so the covering isn't in perfect nick but everything (including the 4 way footswitch) is present and correct. Now on to the bad news!! The amp has developed a fault the last few times I've used it where it crackles and the volume/gain drops down low - I've talked to a friend of mine who is well versed in such things who seemed to think the problem lay with some of the preamp pots that need replacing. I guess this would be an ideal amp for someone who knows their way around the inside of a valve amp as it should be a fairly easy fix. I have got schematics for the amp and I'm happy for anyone to come and have a good poke around to assess the amp before buying. I'm looking for 180.00 for the amp which is a fair bit less then I paid second hand but reflects the condition. Feel free to PM me with any queries.
2. I'm selling an Ibanez EDB700 which would be more than suitable - very light bass and very thin neck (both width and depth at the nut) would prob let it go for around 90 quid seeing as it's for a good cause. PM me if it's of interest.
3. Bump - I'll let this go for £100, but it no longer has a case (it's been sold seperately) bargain price for a great bass!!!
4.
Lots of pics here
pm sent
5. After much deliberation I've decided to sell my Ibanez EDB700. It was the first bass I bought when I got back in to playing bass around 4 years ago and it's the only one I've held on to since switching back to guitar full time. The bass itself is not in perfect nick, as it has been gigged fairly extensively but it is in far from bad condition, really the only damage of note is a bit of wear above the neck pickup (as can be seen in the photo's) and a few small dents round the edge, to be expected with these basses as the body is made from pretty soft maple and the finish is fairly thin. There is also a small amount buckle rash on the back, but nothing that goes through the finish. The other thing about the bass is that it is currently wired as passive, with 1 volume and 1 pan knob to selct between the pickups. The bass originally came with a pretty dire 3 band active eq which died fairly quickly and was replaced with a John East Pre - when I relegated the bass to backup I sold the East pre amp and wired it up as passive - it still sounds really good, and I have recorded with the bass since but I think if i was keeping it I would probably look into making it active again. All that said it is a joy to play, with a nice fast thin neck and is probably the best bass I have owned for slap - if it wasn't for needing to buy tools for my cabinet making course I would be keeping it!!! I'm looking for £100 for the bass
6. Bass Player and Drummer wanted for Berkshire based Heavy Rock/Metal band, must have own equipment etc. and be very committed - we're currently finishing off writing and recording an album's worth of tunes and need to get a live band together so we can get gigging. Our main influences are Tool, Alice in Chains, Clutch, Sleep, Soundgarden, Down, Corrosion of Conformity,Unida, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, White Zombie, Fu Manchu, Black Label Society, Stone Temple pilots etc. etc. but we're fairly open minded.
7.
I'm looking to swap my Schecter C-1 FR for a decent bass. I only have one bass at the moment and I'm looking for a backup so this needs to go unfortunately. I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I got this, especially with the floyd rose. I've been playing metal music with this guitar but it sounds beautiful and I'm sure it would suit any genre. It's in good condition. There are a few light scratched on the back though, but of course you wouldn't be looking at the back and it would affect you're playing. It also looks like there's been a chip off the top of the headstock which has been repaired (I'll take a close up picture). Here are some specs: Construction/scale: bolt-on /25.5 in. Body: mahogany Neck/fingerboard: rosewood Frets: 24 jumbo Inlays: dots Pickups: Duncan Designed active Hb-105 Electronics: vol/vol/tone/3-way Bridge: Licensed Floyd Rose Binding: white Tuners: Schecter Hardware: black nickel Color: Gloss Black (Blk) Pics to come later. Thanks. EDIT: Just changing a few spelling mistakes
Interested in an Ibanez EDB700?

9. just to add would trade this for a half decent chorus or tuner pedal, or maybe even something else - let me know what you've got!!
10. I'm selling my Marshall Jackhammer. The pedal is in very good condition and is boxed with instructions. This is a guitar distortion/overdrive pedal (it has 2 switchable modes) but it works really well with bass due to the fact it has a 3 band eq (with mid sweep!!!) - doesn't really do subtle but you can get some great heavy sounds!! I'd like £22 pounds for this pedal including postage. Below is some info from the Marshall site: The JH-1 Jackhammer is the ultimate overdrive/distortion pedal. It allows you to recreate that classic overdriven Marshall sound or go to the extreme aggressive distortion of modern heavy rock. The unit features an incredible six controls and two modes that allow you to tailor your distortion sound to pretty much anything your heart desires. "Six Adjustable Controls This Marshall unit features six adjustable controls; gain, volume, treble, bass, frequency and contour. With this array of controls you can customise your sound massively. Using the gain control you can increase the amount of distortion from crunchy chords to super saturated lead tones. The volume simply adjusts the overall noise produced by the JH-1, allowing you to boost or cut volume when the pedal is in use. The treble and bass controls the high and low EQ, while ‘freq’ allows you to pick out the frequencies that the contour will ‘scoop’. Contour enables the user to scoop the frequencies specified by the frequency control. Two Sound Modes The Jackhammer Effects Pedal features two different modes; OD and Dist. The OD mode is an overdrive that recreates the Marshall open roar of a JCM800. The Dist mode is full distortion mode for the more saturated tone of a JCM2000."
11. Very quick question which I'm guessing may not have a simple answer - I've built a true bypass loop for the guitarist in my band and I am very pleased with the result, but he's asked me if it's possible to add a remote switch to the looper with a momentary switch that he can use for solo's - ie stamp on the switch for eq boost, play the solo and then just step off at the end. Is this possible? I would tell him it's too much hassle, but actually I think it's a bloody good idea and if it is possible I'd like to give it a go as it's something I'd like to build for myself eventually as well if this one is ok. Probably worth mentioning as well that the switch would need to be in a seperate box that can be placed elsewhere on the stage away from his main pedalboard! Thanks Chris
12. Hi Y'all, We're looking for a bass player to complete the line-up of our band, playing rock/metal cover and looking to get gigging fairly quickly but also with a view to writing our own material n the future, current set includes songs by Guns n Roses, Skid Row, Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, Love/Hate, Kiss, The Wildhearts, WASP etc. Cheers Chris
13. I so want this - unfortunately I've exhausted all guitar funds for the forseeable future Bump for a fantastic guitar!
14.
Apologies in advance for this comment: That, IMO, is the most hideous colour my eyes have ever had the misfortune to be subjected to. Best of luck with the sale though!
I actually quite like it then again my current project is a hot pink 80's superstrat the I'm restoring to it's former glory - so I don't know if my taste in guitars is to be trusted If I had a bass to trade I'd probably be making you an offer!
15. Just got a new camera so thought I'd put some better quality pics up:
16.
That's a common problem with the late 70s SG 1000/2000s - the hardware tends to get really pitted too.
apparently it's caused by gasses released by the pickguard if they're left in the case for too long - the hardware on mine is pretty mint though! there's a little bit of wear from palm muting on the bridge, but no tarnishing or pitting at all. I'm not too keen on the knobs either, but I'm keeping it as original as possible so they'll stay - only thing I'll be changing any time soon is the nut as the one that's on there is pretty shagged - my G string keeps getting all caught up!!
17.
Good luck with the beast my friend, they are very cool guitars. Though they weigh a great deal more than they should.
thanks man - weighs less than the stingray I just sold though!
18.
Nice, I had a '76 SG1000 a few years back, but had to trade it in for an amp after my hiwatt exploded mid-gig. Bad deal, but I was in a hurry, swapped the Yamy and my Hiwatt 4x12 for an Ashdown Electric blue 150. Was the old british made ones, but was still only £350, and that Hiwatt was vintage as well.... doh!
Someone made a tidy bit of profit on that one then!! They are awesome guitars - I was torn between getting this and holding out for an SG2000, but tbh I quite like the more Gibson like vibe of the set neck on the SG1000. I guess it would be nice to have the brass sustain plate that the 1500 models upwards have. The only real issue the guitar has is a fair amount of laquer fogging on the rear and a bit around the top (fortunately just on the dark bits of the burst so you can't really see it unless the light hits it just right) but tbh Iquite like that because it's a bit of a reminder that it's a 30 year old guitar - if it wasn't there you wouldn't be able to tell!!
