1.
Behringer, please. P.M'd.
Behringer Sold!
2. bump - someone must want this at this price? Just to add my brother is up in central London over the next few weekends so can get delivered there for free if that suits anyone?
3. The clearout continues!!! Gotoh 201 bridge in chrome - pretty much unused condition (even has the original box and everything!!) - I bought it from here a while ago and didn't even get round to fitting it. As I'm selling the bass this was destined for I guess this will need to go too!! SOLD Also have a Behringer BDI 21 bass driver DI - very useful sansamp-alike di, sounds absolutely fantastic. SOLD Chris
4. Just about to reply to you and noticed that in the picture as well- still a great bass even if the dots are between the fret lines (suppose that's kind of in keeping with the jaco vibe of the whole Jaco thing though!)
5.
Hi mate Are the dots on the side of the neck (i.e. on top when you play it) in line with the fretlines or between them? If the former consider me interested Chris
I honestly can't remember - I'll check when I get home this evening and let you know.
6. I'm thinking of selling my ABM combo to fund some other purchases - it's a cracking amp and one of the last made in this country before production went to China. It's in pretty much perfect nick with just a few small marks in the covering (and you have to look quite hard to find these) - The EQ on it is super useful and don't beleive what people say about these amps, It can go from nice and clean to real vintage type tones - no wool in sight!! I can't upload any pics at the moment as I'm at work - but I'll try and get some uploaded later (although to be honest they all look the same ) . Pricewise I think £450 would be fair - not really after trades (except for maybe guitars/guitar amps)
7. haven't bumped this for a while - price drop to £160 though no longer with a hard case (it's being used for one of my other basses - I will include a padded gig bag though!) Trades for interesting FX or maybe a Guitar (the skinny string kind) or guitar related stuff considered. Although I would prefer to swap it for cold hard cash!
8.
Yeah, I think I used the same schematic - I either 1) tried both transistors on a breadboard and preferred/got a decent result with the 109s or 2) didn't have any 3904's at the time and had some 109s lying around, either way, they did the job for me and the pedal needs taming with a blend circuit otherwise it seems to scare guitarists
And scaring guitarists is a bad thing? It's one of my main aims in life!!! I may see if I can get hold of some 109's in that case to see if they help - I suppose the other option is to give the blend circuit that Al posted up on here a go and see if that works.
9.
What transistors did you use in the circuit? IIRC I ended up using BC109's (can't remem if I changed the resistor values tho') and it seems to work fine with my TRB1006
I just used 3904's - they're what were on the schematic Al pointed me in the direction of.
10.
Short answer - no. Long(er) answer - you need a buffer
Buffer doesn't work - I've put it in line after buffered effects and it still sounds sh*tl!!!
11. So... finished my mammoth clone last weekend, and it sounds exactly like it should and I'm well impressed with myself for actually managing to build something that works!!! - However.....as you all know they are not that happy with active basses, in fact they sound pants, so I'm left with a pedal that sounds epic with my passive basses but rubbish with my Stingray, which unfortunately is the bass I use live most of the time - would adding a pot (say a 250k) to the circuit input (between the footswitch and the circuit itself solve the problem?
12.
How about a trade for my very cool (and pretty rare) Fender MIJ Jerry Donahue Telecaster? Let me know what you think! Etienne
If it was black I might be tempted - not a fan of sunburst on Tele's to be honest!! Cool guitar though. Thanks Chris
13. Bump - would also consider trades for a decent g**tar
14.
I was under the impression that he used 3 SVT-IIs, one which ran a clean 8x10, and then two 4x10s which were at two different levels of gain, and he switched between them, rather than what you suggested? But I'm not entirely sure.
That's what the thread on talkbass suggests - although back in the day he just used 2 svt's and 2 8x10's (and by back in the day I mean around the time Evil Empire came out, on which he has simply the best sound ever)
15.
AFAIK (and someone will probably correct me) He has 3 rigs, one is always running, and it's clean, another is running most of the time and he chooses how dirty it is with pedals, another is switched in and out and is seriously dirty.
Sounds complex! and heavy!! But then again he has one of the best sounds - saw them at Reading in '96 and was blown away by how good his bass sounded.
16.
Timmy C does it with similar amps doesn't he? There must be a reason for that.
Timmy C does use more than one amp, although I think he may have had them set up for different sounds, rather than having a seperate one for fx, he'd have one set clean, one set for drive etc.
17. Since when was it a competition? - Flea isn't my favorite bass player, but you cannot deny his influence. He has reached a much wider audience than Wooten and to be fair how much has Flea done in terms for raising the profile of the bass player? - there aren't that many succesful bands I can think of (and by that I mean properly succesful bands) where the bass player is as well known as the guitarist. (to the general public I mean, of course any one on here will automatically look at the bass player in any band.) Flea's a rock star with mass appeal, Wooten is a session player who appeals to a very niche market- there is no real comparison.
18. Good to see people spreading the Ashdown love - never been let down by my ABM and have always had nothing but excellent customer service from them as well. Sounds f***ing amazing as well!!
19. Just got all of the bits and pieces together I need to make one of these - it's going to be a long weekend!!!!
20. I wouldn't buy one - as far as I know it has the same Pre as the ABM's which I do love to bits, but for that sort of cash my money would be going to Orange or Matamp.
21.
My kick drum sounds seem to be my biggest issue. Could I make a sub kick out of a hi-fi speaker and a drum?
You could - I used to use an old Yamaha NS10 woofer with an xlr cable soldered to it!! Gave pretty much the same sort of results as the Sub Kick (although I'm sure the Sub Kick is a little more refined!!!)
22.
Goodrich H 10K also Bespeco are nasty imo
How much for a volume pedal!!! That's verging on the ridiculous.
23. I need some advice on volume pedals - basically I need to get one, but I'm slightly confused as they seem to come in active or passive versions, but I use active AND passive basses. Also any recommendations on what to go for - I really don't fancy spending all that money on one of the EB pedals or similar (I'm thinking budget end of the market!!)
24. check out www.johnnyshredfreak.com - decent power supplies at a fraction of the cost of the diago.
25. He's gone to BC Rich - They'll have his signature version of the beast out soon.
