i have recently purchased a musicman SUB5 off a friend and I'm wondering what kind of information the serial holds! any help will be appriciated Cai
They're just a sequential number I think - no information as to age etc. as far as I know. If you are lloking to date the bass try this link - http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/TOWN8019/ If it's not listed then it should give you a vague idea of age anyway by looking at where your's fits in to the sequence - if not email EBMM directly - just use the support email address on their website. They got back to me within 24 hours with the exact dob for my Stingray.

My bad - I assumed cos this appeared on the Synkronized album he hadn't played on it - but this was recorded before the other tracks. and I swear this post was about deeper underground earlier
Oh and a Warwick. And Stuart Zender. Those two are pretty important to get right.
Except Zender didn't play on this tune
I've been asked to learn Virtual Insanity and it's proving to be a nightmare, I just can't hear what he's doing despite having an accurate transription and having watched a few well meaning souls covering it on You Tube. I know SZ used an old Boss multi-effects unit (I posted a link to a NOS one for sale a few months back) but what effect/s is he using on that song? I have a Zoom B2.1u and just can't get anything similar out of it? Are SZ's bass lines altered a lot after initial recording? Any help with this much appreciated. Ta Sean
I'm pretty sure the bass is also doubled with a synth keyboard part.
You need the Code for the type (say M1R2) and then you need the resistor codes (M2K2 and M10K) They're 0.6W - more than you need, but no matter
Fantastic - thanks a lot mate.

I'm currently taking the electronics plunge (kinda) and building myself a couple of passive ab boxes. I need some 1/4 Watt 10k resistors & some 1/4 watt 2.2k resistors but I can't see any with this value on the maplins site - can anyone point me in the right direction?

Amazing bass finish! Merged with Ritter Thread (same subject!)

Wow - that's stunning!!!! -
including me iv had the limiter and the sustainer, both equal to their boss equivilants, and seemed less noisy
+1 - I have the Limiter (I paid about 7 quid for it new!!!) and it's a great pedal. I've tested it up against the Boss version and it seems to work just as well and as Kev said is definitely less noisy. The Flanger is less good but is still a very usable pedal for the money.

Stingray Pickup/Preamp Question
lateralus462 replied to lateralus462's topic in Repairs and Technical
I guess the obvious answer to your question is do you like how it sounds at the moment? I'd only put it back to stock if it sounded bad or if I was selling it on.
Actually - I've found out I really do like the sounds (just got back from rehearshal)- the split coil sound for slap is outstandingly good and it gives a bit more tonal variety to the whole Stingray thing (they are a bit of a one trick pony aren't they ) I'm fairly sure I want to keep it how it is now, tbh the thing that worried me was that the split pickup sounded a little bit thin through my crappy pc speakers at home - through my amp at practice tonight it sounded HUGE!!!! I love my bass. -
Now Id like a Markbass 3x10 combo with 2x10 ext cab (matching of course) My Ashdown is good but all I can do is turn it up or down and the Eq is bitch to twiddle to get the right sound. Life is hard at times innit!!! C
Have 2 - they're free apparently!!
True but the synth really really is crap, it hardly responds to most stuff you play. And the built in fx aint much better. As for compressors, all you can do is turn it up or down.
I'm sure there are loads of people on here just desperate to give away fx pedals that will put the Line 6's fx to shame Methinks you may be in for a long wait....................
-
If you like the BTB you have so much why not go for a BTB670
-
I have tried that and it just got annoying cause the problem with the Micro BR is that you have to flick through quite a few screens to change stuff about whereas compared to having an fx pedal which is much much easier to use. The BR aint particularly hard to use just very labourious though until i gather some funds that's really the best option going. (on a plus note though the BR makes a damn good 4-track) And i would sell some stuff but i still do use all of it, apart from perhaps a mic cable and some spare strings it's all used.
Dude - forget about the BR, you have a Line 6 amp that has a synth, compressor, envelope filter, octaver, and chorus what else do you need?
Also, that it the AAF bass isnt actually a fender? I hope...
It is a Fender - it was only available as a special order iirc - Tye Zamora had (still has?) a contract with them.

Right - the Stingray I bought recently has a switch which when I bought I was told was an Active/Passive switch - on closer inspection it seems that the pickup itself has been modded as well as the pre so it can be tapped. (Also the jack socket has been replaced for the same sort of one you get on Active Ibanez basses (and some wood removed to make this fit - this one I'm kind of pissed about!!!!) The work seems to have been done fairly neatly (except for the jack socket!!!!) but I'm wondering whether it's worth getting it returned to stock, and if so where I would go to get this done and how much it would cost (cos if it's likely to be too much I may as well save up and buy a john east mm pre or similar and get a new MM pickup) And a really bad photo of the mods to the pre itself so the switch for the coil tap could be fitted Sorry about the pic quality

I was looking on youtube and someone seems to have uploaded some videos of my band from our last gig with our old guitarist - thought I'd share them here and maybe get some opinions cos we're still playing these songs, albeit under a different name and with a new lead guitarist (the old one was rubbish) - so be honest, we can take it Sound quality is pretty bad but you get the general idea:
-
That looks like a Kahler trem to me: http://www.kahlerusa.com/home.html I guess some routing would be needed to fit one?

I'm seriously wanting a Rockbass fortress!!! How much do you reckon they'll be going for?
Nah, the Bongo is a really cool looking bass for me. Funnily enough, I was in electro and played a new 3eq Ray and it was truly dull! I've only played one I loved the sound of and that was a brand new 2eq with a matching painted headstock in gloss black. It really sang! Still never played a Bongo, though.
I've heard a couple of Bongo's and they both sounded fantastic, I just can't get past the look - far too round. And my 3eq 'Ray is far from dull
-
The Bongo looks quite good - asides from the name....
....and the fact that it's quite possibly the ugliest bass ever made!!!!

Not plain white exactly but pretty close:
since installing my e-mu 0202 usb interface i have a pop-up reminder from creative prfofessional products every time i turn my pc on, about registering my product, even though i already have! anyone else had this with creative gear? even when i uninstalled the e-mu i still got reminder every time i turned pc on if i click close, the register page appears, click close on that, reminder appears, reg..remind..reg..etc
I have - it's the one of the most f***ing annoying things ever - thankfully it was on my Girlfriends mums pc so I don't have to deal with it - I spent a couple of hours trying to get it to go away and couldn't. Apparently it has something to do with Vista (doesn't happen on XP machines). If you google the problem there is a load of information about iirc. I do remember that I swore lots and then gave up - and as far as I know that machine still has this problem.

Has Basschat had a negative effect on your wallet?
lateralus462 posted a topic in General Discussion
Here's a question for you - I was perfectly happy playing in my band with my Ibanez and Ashdown untill I found this site. I now have 3 basses, A load of FX and am currently trying to find the funds for another couple of basses that I want. I sincerely believe this wouldn't be the case if it wasn't for Basschat. Is basschat responsible for this? or is it normal for musicians to behave like this towards gear? (I was never like this when I played guitar) - I'm fairly sure basschat is a bad influence (in a good way of course ) -
I've just bought one of these for my Stingray http://www.gatorcases.com/productsdetail.a...ID=2&PID=15 Seems to be good value at about 40 quid - nice and lightweight and is really well put together as well.
