  1. mmmm 🤔 ,regardless of endorsement i think the P would be the best seller .Seems to be the other makes trying to take Fender crown who through loads of gear out for free.I've only dabbled with a P due to buying a Jazz first and having it 20 plus years but it was the absolute killer noise and tone of Jean jacques Burnel that made me know what a Bass was.Around then you had Foxton and Maby playing them too with great tone .Some like simplicity so they can do the magic rather than expect a fancy bass to cover average skill
  2. Picked up a nice Euro4lx tw just before Christmas,i was also lucky enough to grab a USA geddy lee a few months before that with a view to me moving on from my trusty Sadowksy uv70 metro i've gigged with for around 4 years . The Sadowsky became my solo live bass immediately due to its incredible tone across the neck and playability .Never used the active side just passive and its a peach. The Geddy felt a bit fatter on the neck and given it had old strings on struggled against the Sadowsky, restrung i've did 3 sets with it now and its growing on me Always loved the look of the Spector since Stings white one .The satin black finish on mine is to die for and the feel of your hand against that finish on the neck is 10/10 .The rest took a little getting used to,the back strap button, the long neck, the wide neck, etc. Then there's the tone which is always active and you tweek from there .Few weeks in and i gigged at the weekend.First thing i notice is the volume WOW! Immense .I found wheras i normally set controls and just go i was tweeking the treble and bass between songs and also the pick ups on/off with great effect .Couple of minors are the slight neck dive and i think the Sadowksy tops the other two for the G and D string cutting through on something like Ramble on or Wont get fooled again .Anyway just my input and The Euro is staying as its by far the coolest looking and a change is as good as a rest
  3. Monopolies commission would be called in these days lol !
  4. Just you i think, from her warbly period if its December will be magic. Not my favourite era but of its time Mad eccentric musical genius .
  5. Just found this feedback lark ! Bought a bass from Dave few years back and he kindly trusted me with his hard case to courier it in .Which i returned
  6. Another shout for Derek, just received my Spector eurolx in perfect condition Well pleased .First class thanks
  7. Love the stealth look ,not so keen on naturals and gold hardware
  8. Nice, what's the score with pick ups on these ?Some pics show a P/J set up ?Prefer the look of this one .What year is it ?
  9. Went through all the writing songs ,playing for nothing to next to no-one back in the 90s .We wrote good songs and stuck at it then folded.I now do about 25-30 gigs a year in one cover band and it suits me great .Set list pretty much learnt ,turn up,play to a decent crowd get paid .I wouldn't go to see us or any other cover band but i'm happy out there playing and using my gear and talents
  10. 1 point for a lovely bass minus one point for me scrolling right down to find where you are . Good price but seems to be where its at ,just sold my lovely CIJ 62RI p Bass for £500
  11. Parquet courts in Newcastle last night.Great band with a healthy mix of song types from fast punk to dreamy beach boys stuff .Really clever busy bass lines delivered with a nice punch
  12. Them and a few other were parts of peoples lives without trying Quo,Lizzy,Queen etc chucking singles out that jumped into our living rooms ,Totp,tv shows ,guests on this and that. You felt you knew them so you have a big lump of people who are casual fans .Just part of my early years without buying a record
  13. There's a massve lump of people on the planet have never seen Live aid or most of what they did ,wether they would go to see it ,who knows .The test is wether its watchable not being a big Queen fan
  14. Read little press so only heard friends comments and they seem to like it.They are run of the mill Queen type fans not die hards .People singing along etc so not so much a typical film.
  15. They make you sit downbecause the bar staff like to do all what you do instead
  16. Think it is fair to say ,if he wanted a natter about it he would have by now .He was probably quite private even in the Queen heyday so he hasn't really changed .Just stopped his day job.I could be wrong but the guys who have something to say about gear tend to surface and tell the stories .
  17. i'm not lying,i don't.We know no more than we did after this piece either .
  18. Don't most people want a quiet life?,certainly the majority which brings me to the opening comments .I don't think chatting to him about basses would be that interesting .Seemes to love a P bass and keeping his head down. Not much to tell
  19. Fab Small cosy bar First gig with my USA Geddy Lee jazz, sounded immense .3 encores !
  20. I don't think i've heard example 1 quoted i think its the old thing of buying Geddys, bass and his preamp etc etc and still not sounding like Geddy. Then there's Geddy again who can pick any of his flock up and after a lot or professional help can get THAT sound The guy i dep for plays the songs quite well but through a poor bass with old strings and a crap amp eq so it sounds awful .Maybe i should let him start one of my gigs and see if its his fingers !!
  21. Early Stranglers ,Black and white album for example Japan Tin Drum Tool Rush
  22. Thats another question, what does a jazz trio audience expect? and i'd argue the understood bit .As a rule i think punters go and expect a band rather than expecting certain things of its parts
  23. Unless its a muso type gig they won't expect anything from you and at the end they may not know they've had anything but if you do a good job they will have a good time ,providing the singer isn't a Richard
  24. Another for Marlowe as far as great licks and then tutorials, effortless playing and so on the money ,Scott is canny too. For out there technique and killer tunes i like Remco hendrix
