  1. Kids from a council estate travelling around with their mates with lots of money and people telling them they're great.I think you just got an exploded version of what they already where.Nothing staged or planned
  2. Background wise i suppose you're right but everyone gort a mention from McGee to the sound guy to the stand ins to the tour managers
  3. I did too,the first albums speak for themselves but they seemed to get more mouthy the worse they got after that so i suppose you make your bed. They're getting a resurgence with kids at the moment, teenagers including my son
  4. Yeah, the womans handbag syndrome!.I like the Thoman bag as it kind of amp head shaped so you sit it flat and open the top giving you access to everything easily
  5. Got a Thoman briefcase type soft bag, thinks its an "effects bag" my BOSS MULTI BOARD and Tonebone and all leads and extension etc fit in fine.Cheap and cheerful
  6. The was a period where you did have to pre record your song live early in the day then mime to it later,or record the vocal live or soemthing along those lines.Something to do with MU ??
  7. i play my bass quieter than i play my hifi usually, neither that often. Not sure if she is a good neighbour either, how much do you do in her requests to keep an average moaning noisy neighbour happy ?
  8. Looks a good option, quality, versatility.I like how the looks are maybe overtaking the practical ins and outs proper bass player .As said used stuff saves you paying over the odds and is handy if you have a change of heart for resale values. Most basses fall into the Jazz or P Bass camp and this is a good combination of both
  9. The last bit is quite common ,few bits of tidying up after the recording .
  10. First 10/15 years I had one bass ,a 75 original jazz ,good first choice of course occasional rock type gigs ,back line only Had a long break and managed to extend my collection ,old ricks and more fenders I played in the house and the odd charity mates gig Started gigging with a semi pro set up about 7 years ago ,big PA.Realised my amps Di was no good and most of my lovely basses had issues ,crackles, buzzes, volume loss etc Even a newish P bass had an earth issue Picked up a Sadowsky vintage metro on a whim and all that stuff disappeared overnight .Even girlfriends of the band noticed how it sounded The sound guy was gobsmacked .It never gets played between gigs and I still play the older guitars at home and the odd half set If you're Geddy lee you can get all your vintage stuff perfect and keep it there not so much blokes like me
  11. Love this ,great bass line ,killer voice ,takes a while to start
  12. Just finding the middle ground really ,like tidying all your boxes away and chucking a couple of lights on .Light nights are a bummer for atmosphere as well .I find pubs who've made an effort with a designated area and a few lights tend to get better punters in rather than waiting for someone to finish his scampi to move them etc .Backdrop can be handy for marking your space
  13. Love my 90s jap 62ri Sunburst etc ,mojo with non of the risk or real outlay Had a P bass itch and it's scratched
  14. Yeah it's Neil as well !!
  15. ? Get to gig ,look for spot ,across those windows for example ,put it up Not always doable of course but not a major hassle either way
  16. Yeah the song or two I caught he had a lovely growl with a big mid thump .You never know how much the back line or desk plays in that though .
  17. Yeah the bar is higher but personally I can separate them well .I would have a different outlook going to see Rush then say First aid kit Nile was a good choice for a Nye party
  18. I'm 55 and find the Jools thing so dull ,my son more so Surfed the Sky music channels ,everyone had the Ad free best of stuff on
  19. It's more about losing those windows etc with backdrops ,creating a stage .
  20. Hit and miss ,handy for punters to remember you if they stumble in by chance Not always space for one ,fold up reasonably small
  21. We got a weeks notice on last Saturdays gig that the pub wasn't putting bands on anymore Got a gig on a days notice for that night due to illness and we went down a storm
  22. Ask about ,ring pub say sorry we can't make it ,this band are free ,leave it at that
  23. My gopro picks up sound well though I'm sure some will have more complicated set ups
  24. Different for all bands not just rock.I was in an originals band in the 90s and the only way to get anywhere was gig, finding gigs was tough and you got paid zilch, then you knock the odd ep out and send it off in the post etc These days you dont need gigs to reach thousands of potential fans. The kids still have their bands like we did .My sons into grime and stuff and its a healthy as can be expected
