3.
Sorry, missed this reply! Yes, I would say so. The specs of the neck, including that its a pre 3 bolt, certainly ties it up to be 74/75. And according to the stamp, from what iiwe make out its marked for '75 which would make the neck one of the last four bolts.... Dropping the price to £1395...
I had a 75 four bolt ,large logo ,high thumb rest ,it also had truss rod poking out the nut end, serial number started 6....... Seems to be a lot of stuff going on around then
4.
The alder chosen for this bass is very light and resonant- this is why I believed it to be a 1969 as I was told- it sounds just like my dear 1965 P-Bass. The brigde seems to be a 1960s as well. However, there is the same red stamp in the neck pocket as on the neck.
The thumb rest drilling would put it around 73-74 at least, earlier was below the G string, interesting stuff and really quite common for working basses to have been tinkered with down the years
5. Total one off,got one of Steve Jansens photos of him on my living room wall
6.
Hi Guys & Girls. How may you recommend is best for switching from passive to active basses quickly during a gig. Currently I switch by hitting the 10db cut on my ToneHammer 350. I am switching from a passive J / P Bass to an active Status S2. What could I add to make switching between both instruments more precise in terms of DI output and optimised eq for each instrument? Thanks in advance Fender MIM P Bass Fender MIM J Bass Status S2 Aguilar TH350 Bergantino HT112 Bergantino EX112ER
http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Radial_Bassbone.html Pretty much what you need, loads of quality useable features
7. Good to see Peavey getting a mention,i was in the market for a combo in the 90s,loud but reasonably portable.Did a bit research and went for a Peavey Tmax115.It was £800 back then,500watt head 1x15 black widow, tube and solid state. Still got it,using it tonight.1X15 went a while back so i use it with 2x peavey 2 x10s taking it to full power, the head is now rack mounted It sounds immense and i still get comments and praise at the sound
8. I have a 1991 version of this bass have you seen this guy? same bass again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrB3Q2uvP8Y
9. Nice,i had a 75 four bolt neck with a 6xxxxx serial no so they're about

13. Hi few questions What are the marks on the last pic, difficult to make out, also what's VTC? Is this a full size model or the slim body. What's the control layout? year of bass? Interested and local thanks
14. Parallel universe by Flea, even the finger thumb king knows when to pick
15. Though its out on budget i'd like to mention the Radial Bassbone which i stumbled on while sorting my DI issue.I play a 75 Jazz and in my latest band i'm going from Reggae to Slap to Rock so the EQ on the bassbone is superb for tweaking between songs and bringing the tone right out.The two channels can be used with one or two basses and it has a Boost and other features and it's just a great workable box.
16. Warwick rockbass fretless would be a good choice,on the light side, the early models go for £200ish,i sold my fretted 4 string on Ebay for £125
17.
Try a Westone Thunder fretless... cheap as chips, does the job
Bought a thunder 3 fretless when they came out in the 80s,no probs on your knee but on the strap it was all neck with the small top horn.Difficult to get the vibrato and stuff going at the far end of the neck.Fought with it for a few years then sold it.Got a Jap Jazz at moment and its much easier to work
18.
Hi Can anyone recommend a luthier who all make a custom bass to a specific design. There are great bass builders like ACG and Shuker but obviously they have models which you can add your spec to. I was wondering if there is anybody out there who would build a bass to a specified design or would build a bass as an homage to a classic and add their take on it. I'm after a 5 string and I know the look I would like but I just can't find them anywhere! S
I have a Prometeus custom build see pic. He's based in Italy but ships everywhere,he will do custom one offs to an extent..he's on Fbook etc
19.
I thought JJ went with Shuker because Fender wouldn't do him a sig bass???
Think you're right,i think it was the body weight/strength Fender struggled with..The Marcus miller and the Jaco are the stand out ones for me with distinctive features. The Geddy bass is nice but do the original 70s basses not have the bridge pick up positioned different?
20. confused now , is the bass for sale?
21. Hi,great looking Wal,is there any markings/wear to the fingerboard?Thanks
22. The Fender jazz was my first decent bass,i paid £269 for 75 4 bolt in 1983.The neck was super slim the action low and a dream to play. The next few years everybody started playing Wal,Status,Steinberger, jaydee etc and the humble Jazz was very uncool.Luckily i avoided temptation and stuck with it and they have took over the world again. Each to their own but i think a lot of bassists try to over complicate things, perhaps trying to take the guitar guys on.Always had compliments on my bass and the sound.Eventually parted with it to get a 76 with rosewood block neck instead of maple and thats also a great bass. I think the Jazz is the female to the Precisions male.
23. [s]Check out Prometeus guitars on facebook he made my bass on my avatar,if nothing else there's some great pics showing various wood combo's...[/s] [s]no idea what lines about???[/s]
24. armando at prometeus loves multi string builds,he'll build to spec for a modest fee... https://www.facebook.com/prometeusguitars my 4 string is in my pic
