  1. @ped please can you lock this topic. I’m going to try and glean some answers from the big FRFR thread, although it’s a shame it seems to descend into petty arguments about dinosaurs and willy waving rather quickly.
  2. That’s killing rock n roll.
  3. Soz. I hate making a Basschat faux pas. I shall enter into a read only mode for a while.
  4. Yes, there was. But I cannot find it because I have had too much beer. 🍻🍺
  5. My current rig, a GK MB200 and a BF Midget, is the giving me the best sound I’ve ever had so far. But I am more than intrigued by this FRFR stuff. I already have pretty slick portability, light weight and a sound I’m very happy with, I rarely if ever go through FOH and the MB200 does, surprisingly, give me enough volume for my needs. So what benefits would an FRFR rig give me? Does FRFR give a ‘truer’ sound? Can I just plug the bass straight into the speaker or does it need a preamp of some kind, say a Sansamp or equivalent pedal to give some control over EQ? I’m not really that interested in effects or modelling.
  6. And here endeth the lesson.
  7. Give Steve Rowse in Axminster a call. Although he specialises in amps, he may be able to help. http://www.stevesamps.co.uk/
  8. @lowdown @scalpy WSS was definitely a baptism of fire for me. I’d been playing bass less than 2 years and albeit I have been a reader and a good sightreader from day one thanks to my previous musical knowledge of church organ, ‘The Rumble’ gave me nightmares!
  9. Well panto’s are always a laugh. But my favourite musical shows I’ve done are probably West Side Story and Sweeny Todd.
  10. Always wondered what the red slider on Trace amps was for...
  11. My holy grail was a hot pink Peavey Palaedeum that I borrowed for a gig 20 years ago. Never seen one since
  12. All the vids have been pulled. Somebody is watching.... 👽
  13. Just looked again at the Bass Direct listing and it says it’s chambered. Must use my eyes more.
  14. It’s ok guys. The shafts on my pots are solid brass. Or a brass coloured metal at least.
  15. Well it’s looks like my dream of owning a new factory ordered Sadowsky isn’t going to happen. The ridiculous cost of getting a new Satin to the UK is an astronomical £1200! On top of the cost of the bass! With that in mind, I will be shopping around for a used NYC around the £2500 mark. My question is this: when did Sadowsky start chambering their bodies to save weight? Have they always done it? The used 2004 NYC for sale at Bass Direct comes in at 9lb which suggests it isn’t chambered, although I might be wrong.
  16. I had the same issue with the volume knob on my Mex 50s Roadworn. The grub screw wasn’t quite long enough for the amount of thread in the knob. I tapped the knob with a 0.8 thread tapper so the thread goes all the way through. All is now well with my knob.
  17. I’d pay very good money for a Gallien Krueger hifi!
  18. If you could invent something to help your musical endeavours, what would it be? I’d invent a snare drum that only reacts to drumsticks and not outside acoustic interference.
  19. It’ll be a while before I look at swapping it out. I’m extremely fastidious with my gear research. I’ll also keep the rounds on for a good while to deaden them up. And besides, I’m saving hard for a Sadowsky so that will come first!
  20. Also considering swapping out the pup. The last P I had came with a Nordstrand which was lovely, but I think I want a bit more punch. Friend of mine has a SD Quarter Pounder in his which he loves (video of it below, playing through the Trace amp that I now own) Or is that contradicting my wants for a classic P tone? I do like to keep my basses as ‘in house’ as possible so maybe a Fender CS 62 pup?
  21. I am correct to assume that the P bass is all about the low mids?
