1.
Warwick Streamer Stage 2. Played one years later and really didn't like it.
Ohh I forgot my early GAS for a Warwick Corvette Std! My parents owned a sheet music shop at the time, and in 1996 we went to a music trade show where Warwick were exhibiting. Got talking to Norman Benezra and he would have let me have a German Corvette for the trade price of £420. I ummed and ahh'd but really needed an amp as I didn't have one at the time. Ended up with a Laney 30w combo. Could kick myself. Same with the Jaydee. Local shop had a used one, with all the bells and whistles for £600. Again, kicked thyself buttock'ly.
2. The problem I have with music shops, at least where I live where there are 3 or 4, is the stock they carry. Fine if you want a Tanglewood acoustic, drum sticks, 10 watt Stagg practice amps, a Squier Tele or an Adele songbook. The only bass I've seen is an overpriced Mex Jazz.
3. I think mine was either a Ken Smith Burner 6, Jaydee Supernatural or an Ibanez TRB200.
4.
Thanks for starting this thread Ian and thanks to everybody that has added a wealth of cool videos Great stuff
My pleasure!
5. I absolutely love the Dan and the solo work of Fagen. Currently enjoying back to back listens of Kamakiriad and Sunken Condos on my bike rides to and from work.
6. I really don't think age is a thing, only attitude. It works the other way round too. I joined my big band, or the 'old man band' as my wife calls it, playing a mix of 30s-40s swing and a smattering of 'modern' swing music at the age of 17. 20 years on I'm still loving every second of it and am now one of the 'old guys' at 37!
7. Disco kind of making a comeback with this little homage http://youtu.be/nPvuNsRccVw
8. Love all the replies - my first topic that has gone to two pages! http://youtu.be/u8KnQhuVhj4
9. The oft-ridiculed Disco genre provides us bass-types with much groove and many a funk. What is your choice disco flava? To start, I'm really loving this: http://youtu.be/RcYD_jeu1-U
10. A very easy transaction with the very affable Mick. Absolutely love the Genz 3.0. Paired with my BF Midget, my bandleader will be able to hear my wrong notes even more clearly! I'd have no hesitations dealing with Mick again. Thanks for the extras Mick, an excuse to buy some beer bottles to test it on! Thanks Ian
11. Bought my Barefaced Midget from Kev. Great guy to deal with! Buy with confidence! Still can't believe how light this cab is and my wife is very pleased that I can hide it from sight ;-)
12. Have any of the electronics been replaced recently? I had this problem with my 'Ray. When replacing the battery box, I mistakenly soldered the red wire on to the same lug that connects the positive current to the eq, basically hardwiring the battery to the pre amp. I should have soldered it the the other lug, meaning that the circuit is only complete once the metal of the jack plug connects the two lugs.
13.
No, theres a few of us, but not everyone will admit to it! ps: have you possibly spelled your domain name wrong in your profile?
Yes I have. It must have been like that for at least 4 years! Thanks for the heads up my fellow yokel!
14. If still here in a week and a half I'll bite your hand off!

16. Thanks for the replies chaps! Also, why so many holes?
17. 20 years playing in a big band. It's the only band I've ever been in and will never give it up. Big bands seem few and far between these days so grab the opportunity.
18. Took the pickup out of my 2000 'Ray the other night to give the pole pieces a clean and found these numbers underneath. Any idea what they mean? Also took the neck off to have a look - looks like the body is '99 and the neck is '00.
19. Seems appropriate. James Horner RIP http://youtu.be/sofU3EMa4xc
20.
Richard Rodney Bennett's superb score for "Murder On The Orient Express" especially as the train pulls out of Istanbul and gathers speed. Pure musical poetry
Reminded me of another of my faves: http://youtu.be/Lwab4b7_7qA
