  1. Pretty much. I had a little noodle on it the other day after I’d been playing my Sadowsky J for several months. It’s quite a jump going from a J neck to a P neck isn’t it!
  2. Yes, about that. I was slightly less accurate at 1.8”.
  3. I’ll be sorry too. It’s a cracker. Just wondering if the marketplace is slow generally or if I’ve overpriced this.
  4. I’m not sure it has anything to do with shouldering responsibility. It all boils down to the simple fact that nobody enjoys filling out online forms, and they’d just prefer the ‘other’ guy to do it.
  5. Being told by a non bass player how nice my tone is. To date, this is the only compliment I’ve received on my sound in over 20 years of playing. Either I’ve been doing something very wrong or my audiences are utter philistines.
  6. They do don’t they? It’s been a real struggle not to polish the tuning pegs though!
  7. £700 I will listen to genuine sensible offers. Up for sale is my beloved Fender Roadworn P in Fiesta Red with Maple board. Currently wearing TI Flats. The pickups in these are really good and as such, the bass sounds great. I’ve had a few P’s in my time and this is the best I’ve had. Really nice condition. Selling as I only play my Sadowsky at the moment and an impending vehicle purchase means I need to let this go. Nut 1.8” Weight 3.8kg No problem posting. I have the box my Sadowsky came in and will come with a serviceable Fender gig bag.
  8. £200 no offers at this price. Up for sale is my GK700RB. It’s got that famous GK growl in spades of course, and is bi-ampable. Sounds great with a P. I am moving it on as I am looking for something with a cleaner, more transparent sound to suit my current tastes. I have an MB200 and I much prefer it. Trade wise I’d be after something reasonably compact and respectable, certainly no bigger or heavier than my 700RB. Markbass, Tech21, Tecamp, Genz, GK MB etc or maybe even a combo, 110, 112, 115 with ext. cab output. Any questions please do ask. Postage available at buyers cost, otherwise I’m based in Yeovil for trial/collection.
  9. Lady Day & John Coltrane - Gil Scott Heron Thinking - Louis Cole Old Town- Phil Lynott
  10. Saw this beauty on the Owners Group Facebook page. Really considered a Verdine when I got my Satin but I wanted the classic scratchplate J bass look. I’ll watch later! 👍
  11. Didn’t know about this group. Now joined 👍
  12. Excellent! I hadn’t thought of that one.
  13. I have a GK MB200 which up till now I’ve been really pleased with in terms of both volume and tone. I have recently got a Sadowsky, which does sound fabulous through it. But the trouble is, it sounds more fabulous through my 700RB, which I think is down to the boost control and less baked in mid scoop. I’m looking for a micro amp, or possibly a combo for backup and rehearsals that is very firmly within the same price bracket as my MB200 that is capable of a bit of grit. I don’t have any more money to shell out because the Sadowsky NYC means I’ll be living on baked beans and fosters lager for the next 2 years Not interested in FX pedals in any way shape or form, but perhaps the BH250 with a gritty toneprint? What are the Eden Terra Nova heads like, as they seem a lot of bang for ones buck?
  14. “Roger, you are well known for making both high quality basses and guitars. Would you say that basses are when your heart lies?” “Honestly, my heart lies with flat top acoustic guitars.” Awkward. Interviewer not done his homework methinks!
  15. They are very useful and musical frequencies so I understand. IMO, it’s the ability to use the VTC (basically a tone control with added marketing BS) while the bass is active that the magic happens. I’ve always shied away from treble controls as they always sound a bit too harsh or piercing for my liking, especially with new roundwounds. With the VTC dialled back a tad I can still retain treble without the harsh edge.
  16. Being able to understand them funny foreign words and yet still reading everything as Presto and FF much to the chagrin of our MD
  17. Very similar. I do try and find a chord sequence and a lead/vocal part to give me some grounding. I have just begun transcribing big band stuff. Currently working on Lady Day and John Coltrane then hopefully Thinking by Louis Cole. If I ever get my buttock area in gear that is!
  18. I ordered my NYC Satin on March 1st this year. It was ready on June 19th. Mind you, mine wasn’t a full on custom job apart from the colour so YMMV.
  19. Definitely the finest pre-hiatus Dan album.
  20. Not only are there two people with the staggeringly awesome name of Stylon Pilson, but there are two Stylon Pilson’s on BD’s books.
  21. Well, all in all it’s just another brick in the wall really.
