Just picked this up. Its Sky Blue (I think). Very well made. Unbelievably so for the money. Tried it through a Promethean combo and it sounds really well. Very jazz like. High gloss finish. Not light but not too heavy either. Quite impressive really. As well made if not better than a lot of Mex. The necks not as thin as a Fender jazz profile, its a bit of a cross between a J and a P. There's a few chips on the body but altogether its a very nice well made bass. Collect or arrange a courier. Possibility of meeting up. I head up the M6 to the South Lakes quite a bit and on Saturday daytime I'm in Harrogate. Or meet locally for a bit of fuel money... May trade for Boss ME-50/50B
Guitar more than any other electric instrument needs to be in both the PA and monitors, as its high frequency dispersion pattern is abysmal. The problem with most guitar players is that they play so loud that the small percentage of the audience that is within the dispersion pattern of their speakers end up with bleeding ears, while the rest, including a bass player standing only ten feet from the guitar amp but off to one side, can't hear them at all. The smart guitar player knows enough to use no more than a 1x12 speaker, so he can crank it for tone without excessive volume, letting the PA spread his sound across the room and the monitors across the stage.
Thanks for that! I'm going to forward this anonymously to the guitarist! I have to stand as far right as possible to him as he is far too loud for me. I wish he would agree to stand on the right though. The drummer and I would have a chance of communicating!
-
I'm surprised your guitarist needs to go through the PA never mind the monitors as well!!! Many guitarists are that loud onstage that the don't warrant going through the PA with small to medium gigs. One of our guitarists still doesn't know he rarely gets a channel. Problem is he can't understand that he needs to turn down! As for bass in monitors, I played with only monitor signal on Friday as the back line amp had blown. I've often considered not using my own gear and just using the monitors...

Lowest string .317 - "needs to be thicker" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
itsmedunc replied to KiOgon's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Quite frankly, it's sh*te. Anybody who bought it would have to be thicker than the lowest string... -
Just to remind - a chap on here's been trying to shift a Thunder II since April. Last time I looked he wanted £90 for it: http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__2435151 He won't post it & it needs some work but I have no idea why someone hasn't snapped this up. J.
Tried to buy it a bit back. Offered to pay and pick it up when I could and that seemed to work. Asked for address an but no response? Hope the guys ok...
Lucky for me I have no intention of selling my Westone, so prices don't matter.
I said the same about previous Thunder 3 that I had for 20 odd years... I'm a d*ck though. The worst decision I ever made was to sell that. Woe... -
Incedentally, she hasn't spied it yet! That's the spirit, I came home with SVT 115 cab last year and told the Mrs my friend gave me it! Poor innocent ignorance! Battered but nice cab mate I'd go for it if I didn't just spend 5k on house crap. If I can swing it I'll message you ASAP.
Oh! Why didn't refuel the car or zero the mileage! I've been sussed... Had to travel to get the cab and I cant justify 52 miles to Asda. Had to come clean. Poor innocent ignorance! Not this one. Bet she has a tachograph fitted now. She's not been shouting so I'm rather worried...
Hope it's an easy one too Dunc The Westone Thunders always sounded great when Henry Thomas was playing them. Gotta say I like the noise I get from my old Concord and the short scale Thunder I threw together. I'm sure it'll be a doddle to fix and it'll be playing in jig time.
Thanks for that. I had a 3 for over 20 years and sold it a few years ago! Missed it ever since. Hopefully this one will be half as good. Brilliant basses. Had a Concorde too that sold on here a year or so ago. They are great little basses too. Westones are well under rated. If its not a simple fix I'm sure somebody on here will put me on the right track... Cheers -
I had one of these a while ago as I regret moving it on. Terrific sounding cab; really vintage! Good price too. GLWTS Truckstop
I know what you mean. I'm debating on whether or not to withdraw it from sale as I know I'm going to regret it. I'll give it a few more days and then hide it from the Mrs if it doesn't sell. Incedentally, she hasn't spied it yet!
