1. Thanks for the input everyone. It does look like that but I think the pictures are a bit elongated and make it look far thinner than it actually is. Its got a few more scratches than I thought too. I think my lad has been playing it, or playing with it...
2. Hi, any genuine parts I suppose but wouldn't mind a non genuine decent bridge or P/J neck especially with a maple board. Maybe some seymour pickups etc. Dunc
3.
Ye Gods... the first bass I ever picked up was a Kay. Bloody awful, it was. You could pass a ham sandwich between the strings and the fretboard without disturbing the Branston. The second bass I ever picked up, an Encore Coaster, was a delight in comparison.
A guy I know bought a brand new Kay Precision in about 1979. It weighs a ton and sounds and plays terribly. However, it is still in showroom condition and he likes it. I don't think he has played it for 20 years and believes it will become priceless one day!
4. Perhaps a block of flats.
5. I came across this on youtube and now I appreciate how lucky I really am. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDn5DXX_1Tg
6. I traded this with MoJo and I am seriously thinking of buying it back!!
7.
Investigating it? What was there to investigate?
I had never heard one before or read a review. After I listened to a few on youtube I thought I'll have a go at that! Unfortunately it had sold...
8. I was like a kid with a catalogue at Christmas when I first found it!
9. This has probably come up before but its no wonder places like ebay are full of fakes. Im sure on this site (there are many others) I found a copy of a Squier Silver Series Precision that someone on here had once pointed out something similar on fleabay. Nobody could agree if it was fake as nobody thought faking a Silver Series was worthwhile. I must admit that some of their instruments are very tempting...
10. Sold when I was investigating it! Im heading your way at weekend too!!
11.
Bent bit of tin = bbot Any interest in an early 80s MIJ Ibanez Roadstar? Cheers
Hi, sorry ash I don't really fancy a Roadster. Thanks for the interest though...
12. So if somebody was to pick it up, would you throw in a cup of tea and a slice of cake?
13. USA Highway Jazz in wine. Strict cash price or trade/PX. Very good condition considering the thin finish on these. There's one or two marks on the back but nothing serious (which I have tried to show). The previous owner polished the satin finish and it looks well. He also removed the Badass bridge and fitted a bbot. Plays and sounds great. Selling as I have a couple more Jazz basses and its not really getting used. Trade wise i suppose try me would be the best option... I wouldn't mind an Ibanez Promethean P5110 but open to basses too. Will post but collection preferred as I dont have a box, however I do have a slightly faulty hiscox type case which I could ship it in for another £15.00. I'm at BB22SH Blackburn, Lancs but travel to Millom in the Lakes often so perhaps could deliver or meet up.
14. A mate of mine uses one of these, it sounds great. It will be stock as he isn't tinkerly minded. I've never actually played it though...
15. This looks like its been fished out of the canal - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400625123744&ssPageName=ADME:B:FSEL:GB:1123
16. I keep on seeing Fender bodies up for sale on ebay etc that are refinished. Mostly these are (allegedly) vintage bodies. Once they are refinished (with loving care of course), are they really worth any more than a new body? The wood could be the same age etc. So, does a 50 year old wooden body sound any different to a new wooden body that has been built of the same material and to the same spec? Can a player honestly tell the quality under its new coat? I honestly don't know? I can mostly go along with the neck, hardware and the electrics etc having real value in that respect but for some reason, the paintwork has some sort of greater value to me? For me the paintwork is part of the basses personality and so part and parcel of its life. Why repaint it to sell? Would you refinish your vintage Fender to sell? If you were a buyer would you want a pristine vintage thats been refinished? I would definitely want the real deal warts and all...
17. I bought a Redsub 500w 1x10 combo from their ebay auction (promethean clone). It was described as faulty with low distorted output for £74.00. When I got it I turned the mute button off and 'bingo' it was working fine and still is. I thought that they didn't bother checking their returns after that.
18. Your reply has made my day! Perhaps those times weren't that dark after all!!!
19. Slightly off key but about 26 yrs ago I was banned from playing at 'musician collective' venues. I wore a union jack t-shirt and the 'Women of the World' stage started to call me a Nazi based only on the 'offensive' emblem that I wore. The mid 20's ringleader (with a girlfriend of 15!) decided to rant and rave at me backed by nods and tuts from her cohorts. I didnt see why I had to defend myself over my t-shirt so I told her to f**k off and do some ironing. I was then (without trial) duly given my marching orders for being a sexist. The latter 80's were indeed dark times... I suppose at the time, being a vicious scaremongering paedophile was ok!
20. Now thats interesting. How are they at lego and getting the right peg for the right hole? They could perhaps compile an educational package for the seller!
