  1. I've started another thread on the use of Ashdown 408's with DB. Here's the link -
  2. Thanks for the info. Most helpful.
  3. I really fancy this but no funds at the moment. If my Ashdown 408 sells, I'm having it!
  4. I'm selling an Ashdown 408 Classic 500w cab and have had this question posed - Hi are these any good with a double bass, for example as an extension speaker with an Acoustic Image combo? As I don't play DB and so haven't got a clue. Any thoughts?
  5. H, sorry I've missed the question. Truth is, I really don't know. I'l have a look online an see if anyone has any experience. Thanks.
  6. Problem fixed! The new driver arrived today. It's now fitted and all is sounding pretty good. Lee chucked in some Ashdown freebies too. I can sit in the freezing North with my Ashdown hat on, drinking a hot cup of tea from my Ashdown cup and rest it upon my Ashdown coasters! All in all, I'm very pleased with the outcome. A big thanks to eude and Lee for sorting it.
  7. Lee from Ashdown has just been in contact and informs me that there's a spanking new driver on it's way to me gratis! He also pointed out that I should never have been asked to pay for one in the first place and would never have happened if he had been aware of the situation. The man is a gent and I wish I'd dealt with him from the beginning. My faith in Ashdown has been restored! Thanks everyone!
  8. Our very own eude put me onto Lee at Ashdown and he emailed me back with a very positive response. He is going to contact me again in the morning. Thanks everyone, I'll let you know what happens.
  9. Thanks. I've just replied to their last email and included a link to this thread.
  10. I decided to buy the driver for the extension from Ashdown. Contacted them on the 9th of March and today I got a reply - Hi8 Duncan, I have looked into this for you. Unfortunately we can only supply from stock a Celestion pulse 10 bass speaker this is a 200w unit. Since you are going to use it in the extension cabinet together with the combo it should be fine Price is 25.13 + shipping @ 5.30 and VAT . call me if you wish to order it I can appreciate that a 200w will do the job but after the initial cause of the problem, I suppose I expected a bit better from Ashdown. Surely they could at least supply a larger wattage driver for the original price considering the circumstances? I even mentioned if they had any covers knocking about could I get one 'preferably' free (I can't see why not after all the problem was their fault and I'm having to pay to rectify it) but as you can see by the reply, there's no mention. A bit of me wants to ditch all my Ashdown gear and go with a firm with a decent customer service. I've had a lot of new gear from them over the years but that's now definitely come to an end.
  11. On the rare occasion playing without PA support, I've done it with a 1x10 combo. Don't expect Jah Wobble bass but some of the little combos are more than capable. Ibanez Promethean P5110 and all the other models of the same Beta Avlin who made the Promethean, Redsub, Harley Benton, White Horse (there's loads of info on here about them and a Promethean for sale). I've got an Ashdown Mibass 400w 1x10 that is capable of pub gigs. AER Amp One, Two and Three also. I'm sure there's countless more. Try a tad through the rig too if needs be. Or, as above, ditch the backline bass altogether and go in ears.
  12. Yes always check the small print. I'd posted many basses and paid insurance when they weren't actually insured. One company used to insure guitars but then if you checked the parcel length limitations, it had to be under a certain size? A 34"" scale bass would have been too long to be insured?
  13. That's one of the reasons I now ask buyers to arrange their own courier, meet or collect in person. I'm very reluctant to post and won't now accept responsibility for items after they have left my possession. I know it sounds a bit off and deters some buyers but I've had scenario's where things have been lost or damaged in the post. I really can do without that hassle of sorting all that out, refunding and losing out financially. I've even had folk (not on BC) claim they hadn't received items although signatures were supplied from the correct address (paypal refunded them their money too). Don't do paypal as a result either. Looks like you may have to call them again (if their website doesn't give you an option) about their complaints procedure. I wouldn't expect much to happen about it though. Was the bass insured?
  14. Viable option. Looks like wallpaper. She'll never know.
  15. Our drummer, has been a pro but now semi pro, he always pays his own way, generous, drives himself and his kit everywhere, doesn't expect a lift or hand , helpful with setup and plays in time! He is a definite keeper! You can all fek off, you are NOT having him. He's all mine mine mine!
  16. Everybody in the band has a car. Two members have stopped drinking. This helps me immensely. Not only can I now get bladdered but I get a lift with the PA too! Only took 40 years to get this far!
