  1. Sticker books become art! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ORIGINAL-GUVNOR-SUNBURST-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-WITH-ORIGINAL-ARTWORK/132542271588?hash=item1edc229064:g:rhUAAOSwWbRarX03
  2. Thanks for the input. I've not been impressed with what I've read about Mackie Thump but can't actually remember if I've heard them? Consensus says that they are not a very good range, so I'd avoid them. The DLM series however seem to get good reviews (good sound, light, loud and tiny) but an online review can be taken with a pinch of salt I suppose.
  3. Just wondering if the tops and subs could handle a 5 piece band. Drums, guitar, bass mic'd etc. Audience up to 200 max. Also, for monitoring purposes, any good? Was hoping we could keep on topic and just discuss the Mackies but I'm kidding myself. It's Basschat!
  4. I'd be looking at getting some decent packaging. Halfords etc have large boxes. Get a few and make a decent box if needs be. Bubble wrap it, put it in the box and send it to Alex. I would think he would be keen to investigate anyway.
  5. Quite, restoring this bass to it's former glory could dramatically reduce it's value. The bass world is going through a "dragged down the canal" period at the moment. On a more sensible note -
  6. Well, if you don't really want the redundant 4 strings, I suppose I could look after them. I'll even half you on postage!
  7. Had a look at them last night. They look promising - http://www.markaudio.it/products/
  8. Just saw this reply! He uses different rigs (not all on the same night but sometimes links two together), Marshall, Orange, Fender heads, cabs and combos. Great sound but blummun loud! Cabs aimed at his calves and he is about 6' 2. Did a PA for his other band and had the same problem. Ended up that the PA was so loud folk were at the point of leaving leaving (including myself). Funnily enough, recently he has turned down. Went to see his band at the same venue with another bloke doing the PA using subs. Volume wise everything was fine. He also had put his setup as far back in the room as possible. I must say that the rig used that night sounded very tame, mellow and wooly in comparison the the Fr800's. All the live sound seemed to have been removed. I'm not very keen on subs for that very reason. I know the guy who did the PA and he is very laid back and it showed with the sound he produced. Fair play to him for getting the onstage sound level down on the night. Many have tried and failed! Hopefully, next time we gig together the problem may be solved!
  9. My lovely old Selmer Treble n Bass 50. Loud as a loud thing.
  10. My JV57 Precision is very shallow front to back. Standard nut width I believe but the depth certainly makes it feel slimmer. Westone Thunder 3 or T2 MK 2 have a nice slim neck too.
  11. Just tried Reaper on the Mac A1181 and after a bit of meddling it worked fine. Recorded 16 tracks simultaneously then exported the stems and imported them into Logic X and all is well. Hopefully, problem solved!
  12. Nice one, I'd forgotten about Reaper! That's another one to try. Thanks!
  13. Similar to the one in the link. Bought this a wile back and used it as a bag rather than a trolley but it's a bit too big for my needs really. The extending handle has come off and may well be in the land of missing socks but I'll have a look. It has wear but is still useful. I wouldn't use it as a speaker case unless the cab was lightweight (BF etc). Due to the retail price, postage is not really an option so, free to anyone who can collect from Blackburn, BB22SH. https://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_speaker_trolly.htm
  14. I'd actually missed this bit of your previous post! Thanks for the info, it's really helpful. I'm sure there's a laptop here kicking about with similar specs. Mission to find that and download Mixtools then! So, it looks like the Mac A1181 may well do the job too, without an SSD. I know it will play back 16 channels of audio in Logic X. I'll try it out with Logic, Tracks Live today at some point as well. Thank you! I only need the WAV to import into Logic at a later date.
  15. That sounds like a sensible solution! If you don't mind me asking, what netbook and software are you using?
  16. They did release a VM Telecaster bass apparently. Never heard of them before. They came out about 6 years ago?
  17. Appreciated, the expense would have been far more than most could have afforded. I think I'll try Tracks Live on the old Mac, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.13ghz, 4gb RAM (but will take 6gb), use an external SSD drive and see what results I can get. It's all just got me thinking. I recently sold my Mac Mini 2.5ghz, 16 RAM in favour of a 2013 Macbook Pro that would definitely do the job, No doubt the Mini would have done it too but I just wanted something truly portable. Only problem is, I saw a 27" iMac 2013, 3.2ghz, 16gb RAM (upgradable to 32gb), 1tb fusion drive for silly silly money and bought that instead! Portability is a no no and I'm back in the same position with no money to buy a Macbook! Hence the question posed - what can I get away with!
  18. 54,000 duly noted! 'These days", is an interesting term. Surely, in the past folk would have achieved decent results without the technology available today?
  19. Everyone above is more or less saying what I thought. However, a bit of an online search and some folk seem to dismiss maxing out the ram and processing power. The machine needs to run its own OS and the program used to record. A faster hdd than 54,000 sounds fair but the more I think about it, it's only audio. No signals are being processed with fx, sims etc. I'm going to have to resurrect the old Mac A1181 and give it a whirl. Hypothetically, if I was to plug in a bass to the X18, record enable 16 tracks in Logic and set all the input sources to the same, I should then be able to record 16ch of audio simultaneously. Does that sound a fair test or are there other factors to consider?
  20. Amazing the conflicting reports online as to the spec needed. Opinions range from the latest top spec Mac to the oldest and most basic models. Recording 16 tracks live (without plugins, just the raw audio) with Logic X, Tracks Live etc, what spec have you used (and what software) to achieve a good decent (and beyond) standard? In particular used in conjunction with Behringer X18 - Xr18's.
  21. I have trouble with some of my own basslines! Make some, play some and everything is great. Have a break then go back and I've lost the feel or timing! It's just like someone else had written them...
  22. Sorry about the pics. Will get better ones. Up.. As above. Have the box for the desk and rubber case and charger for iPad. Both in good but gigged condition Brilliant setup for gigging and recording plus the advantage of no multicore needed. Selling as I've bought an XR18 and have far too many tablets! Would love to keep but having two is far too indulgent. Would trade for, decent spec MacBook Pro, electronic drum kit (plus cash your way if needs be), Octapad. Collection and demo from BB22SH in person preferred but will post at buyers risk. Send your own insured courier.is no problem. Postage not included.
