Used one of these to rehearse and gig with recently. It was excellent. Could not fault it apart from the weight! -
Anyone bought a bass from Cash Converters website?
itsmedunc replied to Harryburke14's topic in General Discussion
I've bought a Cort bass from Cash Converters. It was shipped wrapped up in a bin bag. No extra padding beyond, I think, a single layer of bubble wrap. Because it was sold as used with finish marks, it is impossible to say what dings and dents were picked up on the road. I also bought a used Harley Benton Tele from Ebay, and I'm 99% sure it was the same outfit. Tele arrived in a bin bag as well!
I bought a bass off here and it arrived in a thick bin bag. Anyone could tell it was an instrument inside. The condition it arrived in was as described in the ad. Made me think that it was treated with more respect as the courier 'knew' what it was? -
Even with photo evidence of the pickup you are opening yourself up for the scam. He can still put a claim against you.... Paypal will ask for the tracking and you can't provided it. They will refund the buyer. Please be aware of this.
I got scammed once on ebay by sending an item. I had the tracking number and a signature from the right address. Paypal said I could not prove that the person who signed for it was the person I sold it to and refunded their money. The courier would not pay out the insurance as they had proof of delivery. Sellers seem to have no protection at all and are reliant on the honesty of the buyer.
It is a fantastic bass -- Used to be mine and it weighed an accurate 9lb exactly when I had it -- It looks gorgeous and plays superbly ( Or it did when I had it ) Will.
Thanks for that Will. My scales are useless so I went for the max weight I thought it would be. Still sounds and plays very well. It's gaining weight, the same as me! -
I love the look of the SQ series. The Sen Ash looks incredible, like the early Fender logo JV's. Shame about the weight but I've grown to find that weight really affects how I feel about a bass too. A smudge too heavy and it sits in its case more than it should.
Same here. It doesn't get used as much as it should. I've managed to find a light P now so it's farewell to the SQ... -

Eden Metro 210 Combo - £275 *SOLD*
itsmedunc replied to AnalogBomb's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I always rave about these when one comes up. About £1600 when new. Best combo ever made imho. Leave everything flat and have a play with the magical "enhance" knob! Wonderful. They seem to naturally cut through the mix. I'd have one back in a heartbeat if the old back could hack it! You would also have a very hard time making one of these sound bad! Great price too! GLWTS. -
It'd be cheaper to just go on stage wearing a t-shirt saying "Woo! I'm really mad and wacky, me!". Would give precisely the same message.
Or perhaps a t-shirt saying - I'm a nobeeed!

Any recommendations for cheap but good mic stands
itsmedunc replied to EBS_freak's topic in Accessories and Misc
I got one off Ebay recently for under a tenner delivered. Lightweight and seems OK so far... -
Not sure if this has been on a thread before - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brian-Eastwood-Bender-Collision-bass-guitar-/272519379512?hash=item3f736bba38:g:17AAAOSwjDZYd2T3 It's truly horrible! I feel sick looking at it!
Beautiful bass! It's hard when you're head says sell and your heart isn't in it - I did the same last year with a precision that had been my main bass for 10 years, but just got too heavy for me thanks to the lingering effects of a shoulder injury. Good luck with the sale tho - looks like a great bass!
Tis woeful indeed. Hopefully, she will go to someone with a younger back! -
Initially I was looking for another MF bass forca project but too goid to ruin. Are you selling your bass here?
Yes, I put it up about half an hour ago.
If you get your hands on a Matt Freeman bass you won't regret.I re moded mine with Spb4 then Spb1. Eventually I reverted back to stock pups.
Thanks for the endorsement. Its now up for sale or trade. The Freeman sounds ideal to me...

Weight update - Will, a previous owner says it weighs bob on 9lb. I've finally found a lightweight spare, so this is now has to go. Price reduced to £375 and the buyer either collects (which is preferable) or arranges their own courier. Really dont want to part with this but I have to get it in my head that it is now too heavy for me! Squier SQ Precision. Dates to around 83/84. 3 Tone Sunburst, white plate, rosewood board. Great condition for it's age but it's not like new. It has dings an dongs which can only be expected for a bass that has been played and gigged for 30 odd years. Nice low action and plays/sounds every bit as good as my JV 57. Strung with flats and has a true big Precision sound. All original as far as I'm aware. A previous owner has had his name scribed on the metal neck pate. I quite like that, as it adds to it's history. Selling as I'm not using it as it's a bit too heavy for me now. Probably weighs about 9 1/2lb. Comes with padded gig bag. Collection much preferred but will post at buyers risk and cost. Will be well packed. Might be able to meet up if not too far from BB22SH.
Dunc, I can highly recommend the Squier Mike Dirnt basses, you can pick them up for less than £200.00 in decent condition, they are nice and light, mine plays fantastic, I have replaced the electric with a Seymour Duncan and CTS pots and I have refinished twice so far, once in Shell Pink and now in a TV Yellow colour similar to the Telecaster colour. It was a cheap bass so I don't mind modding it and I actually gig it more than any of the other Precisions because it is light and great to play, if you are ever down my neck of the woods you are welcome to come and try mine and I guarantee you will be seriously impressed!
Thanks for that Roger! I'll certainly bear that in mind. I wouldn't mind a cheap giggable bass that I could use in the shadier venues we play!
Sell it. Someone else would love an original sunburst one with a rosewood board. I had a Matt Freeman and it was very lightweight, but like any bass they vary!
I suppose, another problem is that the market is a bit knackered and getting as good a quality bass as this one for the money it would fetch would be optimistic...
I know the feeling well. The simple fact is, for you, it's too heavy. It never is going to be the one you're going to eagerly grab as you go out to a gig. If you're looking to cut your teeth on doing refins, then you can find a cheaper bass to do it with, and it could be lighter in weight - so might fit the bill better. If you're experienced at fettling on a bass, then you won't be challenged by this. It's never going to be the No.1 in your collection. I say sell it.
A much appreciated reply! I could do half decent at home as said or have a pro do it (well I mean a mate of mine who is a pro sprayer). As you say it won't solve all the issues though? Still too heavy and the board issue too...

I have a really nice Squier SQ Series precision in 3 Tone sunburst. It's a great bass. Well used but not abused. I really love the sound and the feel of it but to be honest but it's now a bit heavy for the old back (about 9 1/2 LB as I recall) and the board is rosewood. I've grown to prefer maple, I like the brightness of maple and also I can still see what I'm doing in bad light! I also have a big soft spot for Oly white. I use it as a spare even though it's more than good enough for a first choice. My problem is - do I sell and get something that would suit? Or, do I refinish it and keep it as it's serving as a spare at the moment? I can't change the board or weight but can change the colour. If I kept it, I wouldn't care if I did a half decent DIY job. Cost would be about £50 and some elbow grease. Or, do I sell and get something that fits the bill properly but might not be as nice? The Matt Freeman P fits the bill, although I can't get a realistic figure of the weight? If anybody knows please enlighten me. It's a real brain teaser to me... Help! I'm confused...
