Not at all Alain. I have some session work to do do Feb/Mar. Producer is insisting on a Fender Precision with flats . Just glad he hasn't insisted on a colour . After recent culls I find myself P less
Hi Karl, ditto with ead. You are welcome to take my JV or SQ Precision and use one of them. Sound great with flats... Maybe you might be taking a nice white hybrid though!

I have a friend who has River recording studio there. He also does some work for Kick, the backline company. I was over there a couple of months ago. Great place.

Your Bands onstage volume - Enjoyable or not
itsmedunc replied to deepbass5's topic in General Discussion
Tried for years (without any success) to get the band to a reasonable level. They are far too loud. I went onto in ears recently and now I don't have that problem. Most other members do though. Pity that most of the other lads may have to spend a few hundred quid each to save their hearing because one member won't turn down though. -
Cool, glad they do the trick
They more than did the trick thanks! We rehearsed last night. 3 of us used them and they sounded great. Even got our "traditionalist" guitarist on board! He came in looking like Mr Grumpy as he had no loud valves and left a very happy man! Would happily recommend them to anyone.

Been going through the exact same thing. Rehearsals and live. I've moved onto in ears for live as onstage it was too loud. Haven't spent a lot of money on the live problem but it works. We have a Behringer X18 desk, 6 monitor outs. Got my own dedicated monitor mix to a little headphone amp then into an LD wireless in ear system. Works a treat. I need some better earphones but... Rehearsals, ours are loud. Tinitus loud just like gigs. It's the guitarist really, he won't turn down and so the rest turn up. The competition ensures that the sound is mostly horrible. E sounds like a D etc. I bought a Jamhub and an electronic kit. We rehearsed in my conservatory tonight, I used a Behringer BD, Line 6 emulated sound for rhythm guitar and an Orange Micro Terror for lead. Almost silent to the outside world but sounded great to us. Even out very "traditionalist" loud guitarist had to admit how good it sounded. So far, it's the only thing that has worked. Not the solution for everyone but if they won't turn down you will lose your hearing! So will they!

Complete Control The Clash and Song to the Siren by Tim Buckley. Saying that, every version of Song to the Siren I've heard has had the effect on me! There's a young lass on youtube does a version - https://youtu.be/K_CuyabubKs which I quite like...

Here it is - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/269188-sold-limelight-precision-no-00125-olympic-white-over-sunburst-tort-guard/page__p__2861878__hl__limelight%20olympic%20sunburst__fromsearch__1#entry2861878

I'm sure someone on here bought a Limelight Oly over sunburst. If I remember rightly, the thread developed into how Fender used to paint over other colours? I'm sure pictures of it were posted too?

That awful feeling when you let some gear go.!!

Done the same many times. Unfortunately, I'm not loaded and sometimes I need to let things 'go'... -
Various basses, dearmond, chowny, bitsa

These basses are definitely worth the money. The problem is a lot of folk haven't played one and don't really know what they are capable of. I used a Thunder 3 (which this is basically the same bass) for 20 years, I never had one problem (or gas for any other) and I don't think in those 20 years I would have had to tune it, apart from when I changed the strings! I really regret selling the T3 and have had others since which never quite sounded or played the same. However, the T2 I now have is as good as the 3 I stupidly sold. Totally mint, will mean that the 18v active circuit will be totally clean. These often suffer from battery leaks etc over time. These truly are classic basses and are in a different league from the Thunder 1 and even other model variations of the T2. That's why they were released again as the T3.

Have the very same. Thunder MK2 V2 I think? Basically, a Westone Thunder 3 with different headstock decal and truss rod cover (which is missing on mine). They play and sound marvellously. Loads os tonal variations. Active and passive pups. I never use the active as it sounds great in passive mode anyway. GLWTS,
I recently started a band where two of us are tiny people and two of us are giants. As soon as I posted our band shot on Facebook I was overwhelmed with accusations of 'heightism' and bigotry. The twitterverse went mental and West Midlands Police cautioned me for possible 'hate crimes'. The band has now split up before fulfilling anywhere near its potential. So thanks a bundle, world. We could have changed society's prejudices but it's too late now. C**ts.
That's just like us! Two mid five footers and two fekin giants! Drummer's always look the same size so they don't count!
I use Senheiser HD201's.....very decent price and good headphones.
Well, the 201's sound great! Just got them and had a play about. A lot better than I would have expected from a £17 pair of phones. I was more attracted them them over the 202's as I believe these have a longer cord. Thanks lads!
They can be! How does the drummer fit in? (thanks for that btw)
The drummer loves the Yamaha kit. He's more than happy to use it. He's been carrying his kit around to rehearsals for over 30 years and just can't believe how easy it is now. It sounds great too. By chance there's a vintage kit on the Yammy and it sounds eerily like his acoustic kit! I'm sure he would want to use it live but doesn't like the look of them onstage. I have to agree but wouldn't rule out using it live if the occasion arose.
No idea, but can you share the rest of your set-up for silent rehearsing?
Just got a Jamhub Bedroom but before that we used a Behringer X18 desk using the monitor outs going headphone amps then to wireless in ears or straight to headphones. The Jamhub is far easier, smaller and far less expensive. Both setups gives every member their own mix. Using a behringer BD121 on bass, Line 6 Amplifi 75 emulator on guitar from headphone out and a Yamaha DTX500 electronic kit. Still working on the lead guitarists setup. He is a traditionalist...
Being a white skinned guy with a very dark skinned birth father it's difficult to know what I actually am anyway. I've been the only white skinned guy in an all black all male band I've been the only white skinned guy in an all black , mixed gender band I've been in all white bands and mixed race bands of various gender make ups I've been in bands with ex mods, rockers , hippies , privileged people, poor people , nice people and not so nice I've also been in bands with Chinese, Vietamise, Scottish , Irish , Italian , French and many more I'm not quite sure what the question is ?
I see myself as English as I was born in England. I'm white. My parents were Scottish and white. When I went to Scotland as a child I was not allowed in most relatives houses as I was English? People here think I'm Scottish as my parents were Scottish, although I have no Scottish accent and show their same traits? Born in a barn syndrome. Seems I have no country really! I think everybody is equal but I know there's no Utopia. It doesn't matter what you or anybody else thinks, as long as you don't hurt anyone. Bigotry taught me that.

Try playing the bass line to Coronation St, Emmerdale, Eastenders and all the rest of that botox and they probably will never notice.

Thanks for the input everyone. I opted for the Sennheiser HD201's. Only £17 at Tesco and free pickup at my local branch, which is about 200 hards away! I'll post the verdict. Thanks again.
