1. I don't think most folk know how good these really are. I have one but in Oly white and it's tremendous. I can't think of a better P bass than a JV...
2. I used an Alesis Midiverb 3 for years. Brilliant piece of kit and cheap now. I had 2 stacks though and run the effects solely through one of them.
3.
In the States if your a bar band it's 4 hours, take it or leave it. New Year's Eve, we play a 3-7, pack up and go directly to a 9-1. Blue
Upmost respect!
4. Would not ever play for 4 hours! My arms would drop off! Done well paid gigs and poorly paid gigs. Comes with the job I suppose. Would be nice to be paid what I think I'm worth all the time but that's not going to happen in my situation...
5.
Spotted this one myself and I live about 30mins away. But I really don't need another bass.
You do. Everyone needs another bass...
6. Were once known as The Reaction, I think? Streets album on Beggars Banquet, amazing version of Talk Talk? Brilliant band.
7. Recently rehearsed with a band I used to play in a long time ago. I was using IEM'S. The singer tried them but asked if it was "cheating"? Are singers completely stupid or does this one take the biscuit?
8. Methinks he has put such a high price to attract attention. He says the price is high but will accept offers. Not the best approach to attract serious buyers though!
9. Sold Rich my TB500. Instant payment and great communication throughout. Brilliant transaction and would not hesitate to do business with him again. Have no fears. Thanks again Rich. Cheers Dunc
10.
They used to be visitors at my first flat in London. We had a few pretty dodgy characters round but Nancy was the only one ever to be physically ejected for 'bad behaviour'. This may have involved syringes . . .
This I have no doubt! I just don't think films such as Sid and Nancy, The Doors movie etc etc can ever accurately portray real events. There's lots of reasons for that which we can all understand.
11. It doesn't usually happen but I have done. I play a JV Precision and a couple of lads have asked if it was a JV. Those lads I've offered them a play on it when they have asked. They must have known their stuff and so worthy of trust in my opinion...
12. Used a similar Ampeg rig on a few dates recently. Absolutely fantastic sound. On the first note, the guitarist turned round and said" f**kin hell that sounds good. You just know you can't go wrong with Ampeg! I liked the 6x10 better than the 8x10 too. GLWTS.
13.
Lets hope it`s as accurate as Sid & Nancy.......................
The truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.....
Cringeworthy. Is that the movie or the band?
All of the above!
14. Dad was a pub pianist and Mum {both Scottish) had a great voice and often accompanied him. Dad got paid a few quid for playing etc. Around 40 years ago she was offered £200 a night to sing in some venue in Blackpool. She refused saying "Son, by the time I've had enough to drink to sing there, you won't be able to afford me". Often wondered why she wouldn't but I suspect she knew the constraints it would put on her family. Upmost respect for that lass for that!
15. Looks a bit dire to me. A bit cringeworthy methinks... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzysZI-1LN8
16.
Haha shouldn't have had that spliff before asking! I also was focussing on the price thinking that was the joke. Yeah crazy number of knobs and their position is laughable! Looks an interesting bass without the excess knobs though.
I'm on bitter and thought he was on about Jordan...
17.
I suppose I was quite lucky in the fact that my fave band was The Sex Pistols. I bought a bass, went to lessons to learn what notes were what on the fretboars, then from there taught myself to play along to Never Mind The Bollocks, as I`d got hold of the song-book. And this would be my tip, find some easy songs with not too many fret changes and get used to playing along, getting timing right etc, and also perfecting fretting without buzz/dead fret sound. From there, well once that`s ok then speed up, attempt lines with more fret-changes in them. Theres nothing so frustrating as hearing fret-buzzing and dead-fretting when learning, really soul destroying, so going slow and getting the rhythm right and fretting, even on just on one string right, well it brings a sense of getting it right which spurs you on.
Similar story but bought a bass for £16.00 and sat there and practiced with no amp until I could play Never Mind the Bollocks and The Clash full album. The bass was welded to me. My parents must have had some patience!
