No Jazz bass in the 50's...Tisk

Thanks for the advice everyone. Quite a bit to mull over there! I'm swaying towards blend and EQ at the moment. It sounds simple enough and I won't need to acquire more gear that the Mrs can see! Any other suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.

PA wattage - what to choose? And what do you use?
itsmedunc replied to Jimryan's topic in General Discussion
HK Elias 1.6k. Loud as a loud thing but doesn't distort or lose clarity. Small footprint and great for a five piece playing noisily. Very impressed. Bought it 2nd hand as we always hired in and lost all the money to the PA guy! 3 or 4 gigs and it's paid for. -
Thinking of going back to Bi-amping after a long long time! Since I last did it, gear has moved on considerably. Hence, looking for advice. I used to use a stereo chorus that split the signal and then each feed went into a separate 15" combo. Unusual setup but one feed was for a traditional bass sound and the other was used solely for effected sound. Being able to boost the treble on the effects was essential as I used a lot of delay. It worked really well. The speakers both being 15", dispersed the sound perfectly. Many years later I don't fancy lugging around 2 stacks or combos anymore. The back isn't what it was and space is an issue. I already have an Orange TB500 head and a Barefaced compact, which could sort one feed out. I've also got another head so, I could just get another cab and that would be that. However, I've been wondering if there's a head that has a single input that splits into 2 separate signal outs, with individual effect loops? Also, a lightweight single cab that can handle 2 separate inputs? Or, perhaps you might have another solution? It's always complicated with me but any advice would be greatly appreciated! Link to Soundcloud. If you listen to the song Maelstrom, it's a good example of the sound. https://soundcloud.c...ncan-mitchell-7 Cheers Dunc

I can't believe it. Somebody needs to explain to me why somebody has even contemplated this "mod"?!!!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bmw-323-touring-rat-look-one-off-modified-/222198705723?hash=item33bc132e3b:g:KfMAAOSw-YVXlm2i

I'm rather disappointed that he hasn't "lovingly" lemon oiled the fretboard though... -
Great PA speakers. Any buyer would be more than pleased. Only moved mine on as I couldn't move them about on my own anymore. I sold them to a guy in Belgium. He sent a pallet service booked through parcel2go. They went on it along with 8 big boxes of acoustic foam, a multicore and a mixing desk. All the way safely to Belgium from Blackburn in the NW for £250. I'm sure the price would be far less to a UK address. GLWTS.
I would love a fender precision from the 80s, that's when i started playing. What's the story with JVs? I remember reading about how the Japanese Fenders were outplaying the US ones back in the 80s (anyone else read Guitarist Magazine in the mid 80s?) and wonder if the JV might be what I'm after thanks Andy
I use an 83 JV 57 Precision. Olympic white with a maple neck. Hands down the best Precision I've ever owned and I've had quite a few. I sold my 79/81 USA as it didn't come close to the JV. No mods apart from it's wearing a black plate instead of the original white. I've only ever played a few so can't really tell you if they are 'hit or miss'. The one's I have played have all been good though.
I'm never really sure what folk quite mean by drive/overdrive/break up Dunc. Mainly because I always like 2 main tones, John Paul Jones circa Zepp 11, and Steve Harris, well, most albums really. Following link might answer your question?
