1.
So what is the best way to send a bass at present? Can't seem to find anything positive and recommended on here now
Boxed in a hard case with 3 address labels (2 for recipient and 1 for sender), sent by a firm that definitely insures musical instruments with the correct insurance value. The guy who used to collect from me told me to put on an extra recipient label as he reckoned their yard was full of boxes with no labels on them!
2.
That's a good price for one of these IMO They're absolutely brilliant basses. Just the other day, I bought a sunburst RW P from this very forum I'm absolutely smitten by how brilliant it is I'm sure yours won't be here long at this price but GLWTS anyway and have a bump for a super bass
Thanks for the +1. They really are as good as the hype...
3.
Ive had a couple of questions via PM so i'll put the answers here: Serial number is O015717 so this dates it '93 - '94. Bassistclem - it is under the logo, but it's very feint. Don't have an explanation for that, it was like this when i got the bass. It doesn't come with a gig bag. I have very good material for safe packaging though. Check my feedback if in doubt. Not sure on the exact weight, i plan on weighing it when i get in from work, i'll amend the OP then. I'll double check the nut width then, but i think i remember it being 38mm yes. I have also been asked about the routing under the scratchplate.... i'll look at this after work. Dunc, yeh this is your old bass. I did debate referencing your old post saying it was the closest thing that guy had played to his '64, but he didn't say it to me, so didn't feel i should. Glad you have chipped in with that info though
Ha! Thought I recognised it. It's a good example. I'm sure that under the plate there's no routing. Best have a look but I'm quite sure you could play it naked.
4. Is this my old bass? Seem to remember something going on around the decal and a black plate on mine too. Sure it is. It's a really nice piece of kit if it is. Saying that if it's not it will be anyway! Yes, it's worth far more than the asking price. Nice and light and sounds great. The guy I got it from bought it as a backup for his 64 Jazz. He said it was the closest in feel and sound he could find and would quite happily gig it as a first if needs be. Somebody's in for a treat. GLWTS.
5.
Would you be open to a trade for a Aguilar Tone Hammer 500. Bought just before Christmas from PMT in Birmingham, and used for only 3 gigs.
Mods will probably remove this as offers should be via PM. Unfortunately, I really need to raise some cash and so I'll have to pass. Thanks for the offer though.
6. Another requirement need so another price drop. £550 with new looking Fender gigbag or £575 with decent older style lined hard case. Consider installments. Great bass to play and very light at 8lb 7oz. The condition is - well, roadworn! Pretty much as they come out of the factory. It's had little use since I got it as it's been used as a spare. It's far too good for that and so it's the logical bass for me to move on. May trade, PX. Try me. Buyer to arrange their own courier. Will post the bass worldwide but please contact for more info. Any fees incurred with payment must be met by the buyer. Might be able to meet up etc.
7. Oh I would really like this bass. Great video below. https://youtu.be/ycN9x_5MqHQ
8. Great little heads. Big thread about these, Ibanez Promethean and Redsub versions on here. Keep one as a spare but would honestly use it as a main. Had the Promethean and Redsub too (said in previous threads) and to be honest I can't tell much if any difference between the three. Top little lightweight head and a great price too. If I had the spare cash, I'd buy it as a spare spare! GLWTS.
9. Quiet nice these. Had one for a short time. I'd still have it now but I needed something with more frets at the time and so traded it. Mine played and sounded really well. Great price too... GLWTS
10.
You can't refuse PayPal even if it is collection only. What happened to the traditional method of getting the collector to sign a piece of paper saying he has collected it, or taking a photo of him?
Once sold an item on eBay. It was shipped via courier to the correct address and was signed for by someone with or using the right name. They told ebay they hadn't received it and they got their money back via paypal. My courier provided me with all the evidence I would have needed in a court of law but it wasn't enough for paypal, as I couldn't prove that the person who signed for it was actually the buyer? I couldn't claim on the insurance either as the courier service had proof of delivery! Unfortunately, I don't think signing for it would work with paypal and no doubt they would find something wrong with photographic evidence too...
11.
Thanks chaps I have not set a reserve, but I have set a minimum starting bid so I presume that protects me from it automatically accepting low bids? The ad says collection only in the shipping bit so it looks like I've got that bit right. I have set it up to accept paypal, but reading the above this may be an error if it's super easy for me to get swindled? Should I change the ad to cash on collection only?
I would change it and write in the ad cash on collection only. I've seen loads of ads saying just that and also that paypal payments will be refunded. I'm not exactly sure if you have to accept paypal either...
12. Heard of some cases where the buyer pays by paypal but collects in person. The buyer then says they have paid but haven't received the item. There's no way you can prove that they havent either so, paypal will refund their money. Add cash on collection only to the listing!
13.
True. How about buy it anyway, I'll post it to you (post shouldn't be more than £25.00), if you don't like it just send it back?
This sounds good to me. I have to tell you that it could take me two years or so to make my mind up though.

15. Hi, did this sell? It seems to have been on hold for a long while?
16. Ah! I don't have very big hands either. Shame as I like the look of it. GLWTS Cheers Dunc
17. Hi, just wondering what you mean when you say the neck is "too big" to get along with? Cheers Dunc
18.
It can be difficult. If I look at ads put up by players of my sort of vintage (50's) they almost always seem to be blues, classic rock or very middle of the road, none of which interest me.
50 today and suffer from the same affliction. That stuff doesnt interest me either. I cant remember anyone in my younger days that doted on blues, classic rock or mother my dog middle of the road stuff? They were all into punk and SKA. Perhaps we are supposed to contract the virus around the 50 mark?
19. Would it be a maple board fretless by any chance? Looked at that too!
20. Can do Roger. Chorley not far from me and have some packaging.
21. If I'd paid off my debts from buying its P brother from Karl, I'd be having this!
