1.
Following on from the recent classic albums thread, I have revisited some of my colleagues suggestions and thoroughly enjoyed relistening to stuff I had not heard for many years. Anyway, I listened to the above track and thought that this (for me) was THE definitive bass tone. Anyone of you knowledgeable folks know what JJ used, I assume a Precision but what else? into the desk and studio trickery? Ampeg? I would like to get as close as possible, obviously I realise I'm not JJ but if part of the tone is the kit than that's a good starting point. Cheers Paul.
Funnily enough, I got an LM III and a Bergantino HD112 the other day. Set it up, plugged in my JV maple neck Precision and hey presto - instant JJ sound! Everything was set flat too... Well, thats not a bad thing! I seem to remember something about him using Marshall and then later Trace..
 2. It looks like its got leprosy? What (if anything) is going through his mind!
 3.
Is that a..... But.......

Shocking...
If per chance these quotes refer to my ... ? How dare you. I would rather cut them off with a rusty chisel... Oh Carlsberg. Wait until I get paranoid...
 4. Sum peeple canned speek or spel propterly. Init.
 5. I have seen many things on Ebay that look like they have been dredged from the canal. It could be a clever disclaimer!
 6.
Or maybe adjust the concavity for the optimum playing style.
Concavity? Optimum? Big words. Doesn't compute whilst drinking Carlsberg Export. May bid on this bass... Dont worry, I'm not that drunk... Yet!
 7. Please ignore the £700, price is a giveaway £400 for the pair. Eden D-115T cab (200w) 8ohm, plus custom built flight case. Eden WT-300 head includes rack ears and Warwick Rockbag (spare Ruby tube included). Classic Eden bass rig made in the USA. Everything is bullet proof and in good condition for a rig of its age. It has been gigged and so has some cosmetic faults but nothing major. It's very loud for 300w. Far, far louder than I expected. Even with the one cab running at 8ohm its loud. Sounds big, fat, warm and smooth. Absolutely lovely loud sound. The head has the Eden electrical "hum" that appears to be normal for models of this era. My old Eden Metro combo was the same, I had that looked at by a respected technician (Dave Pye) but he said it was normal. Its not bad but I thought I'd mention it. Cab has a specially built flight case (internally cushioned). The head comes with rack ears and a Warwick Rockbag which also is fully functional. May trade. You are welcome to come and try it out (which I would much prefer) with no obligation. Shipping at buyers cost but may be able to meet up depending on distance.
 8. Just traded an Orange combo with Julian. Easy transaction and the the equipment was exactly as he described. Couldn't have been easier. Cheers Dunc
 9.
Was the other one not a Squier body? I'm waiting for the Kay bass bodies with strat necks on them! Will he be "improving" a series of these as a hobby/business like a certain other eBayer who we shall not mention?
I'm sure the last time it was up it said a Squier body. I really hope he hasn't found a barn full of old Kay necks!
 10. Not had this long but thinking of selling due to an Eden rig arriving tomorrow. If the Eden is too heavy or not loud enough etc I'll be keeping this and selling the Eden on. The TB500c is 12 months old and in excellent condition, sounds very well and is incredibly loud for its size. The only marks/wear I can see is around the bottom of the Hotcovers padded sleeve that is also included, as is the speakon lead etc. Dimensions - 58 x 38 x 38 cm 24kg (53lb) The previous owner said he would forward me the remainder of the 2 year warranty. If he does I will include this too. I would like to sell really but cant resist a trade... basses, gear etc. Just ask I can only say no. Can be shipped or picked up from Blackburn Lancs. Long shot but I'm in Leeds tomorrow lunchtime so could deliver/meet up. Had a quote for mainland UK delivery (1-2day service) from https://www.wedelivertheworld.co.uk for £11.69 +vat.
 11. Thanks Pete! Thats solved a big problem for me and your help is much appreciated. I cant get on with the job straight away but as soon as it's done I'll send you some pics. I just now need to decide black or red?. Cheers Dunc
 12.
The posted images are low-res jpegs for preview purposes only. the 'file' version is done as a vector in Adobe Illustrator & the term 'resolution' doesn't apply as they're infinitely scaleable without loss. I can provide them as a PDF so you don't need any special software to view or print them at home, & commercial screenprinters shouldn't get any headaches either. The drawback of printing decals at home is that you're pretty restricted on colours as the ink layer is going to be very thin (so yellow or red will tend to disappear on a black background), & metallics are out unless you have either an old ALPS foil printer or a laser printer & laminator and are feeling brave. Another issue with inkjets is how lightfast the inks are, in other words their tendency to fade under daylight/UV. Some are really good, but others can produce random colour shifts over time. So... What colour is your refin going to be & which one (or ones) did you want? Pete.
Hi Pete, that would be great if you could provide the artwork for the very first image above. Thats what was on originally. I was thinking red so black lettering would be good I think (if thats possible? I could always go with black though and use the image as is though. Would you be able to email them to the address in my signature? Also, let me know if you want anything for your trouble? Cheers Dunc
I lifted 'CE-2 Chorus' from a pdf of the user manual and laser-printed it onto DIY waterslide decal and it came out quite good, but if you look closely it is a bit pixelated round the edges. Bloodaxe's route seems a better one, but my pedal ended up like this:
Hi, the water slide looks good enough to me! I'll have to source some water slide sheets. Either of the methods look like they will work but I'll try the vector first. Thanks for all the help and advice... Cheers Dunc
 13.
If you want to go down the DIY route, I have the following as vector art: Pete.
Ooooh! That looks good Pete. I can probably do something with those! Have you got them on file or do you mean use the image and print it out? Sorry but I'm a bit thick... Cheers Dunc
 14.
Correct.
Is that a carpet I see under the basses in the pic above? Also, if you give your left eye a good squint you can just make out what looks to be a pair of curtains?
 15. The mind boggles... It looks like something Tommy Cooper could have used. It can be mic'd up too! http://www.ebay.co.u...=item19fbb88be2
 16. Looks like he needs to buy another string! Or perhaps his cab can't handle the low B?
 17.
"Hoax" on the Westone Forums does them, or used to anyway http://forum.westone...headstock-decal
Thanks for that...
 18. Sounds cheap enough, especially as he is open to offers and will ship too. Just got the combo or I would have had it in a flash. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Orange-Tiny-Terror-500W-Bass-Amp-Orange-SP212-Cab-/231476793092?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35e5178f04
 19. Does anybody know where to get a decal or waterslide for a Westone Thunder 2 bass? I'm changing the colour and replacing the headstock decal and serial are proving a difficult task! Cheers Dunc
