Stagg EUB for sale or trade. It's great fun but doesn't fit in with any music I'm playing at the moment and it takes up quite a bit of room. It is badged 'Rocket Music by Stagg'. It is a Stagg but I think Rocket Music were a retailer who liked to sell stuff under their own brand. It's in pretty good nick no dings or significant scratches. I put little sticky dots along the fingerboard to help my intonation, if they're not wanted they'll come off easily. It's an early model which has the design 'feature' of the side wings/rests just pushing into the body. They have an annoying habit of coming out so I've rigged up a bracing system with reusable cable-ties. The problem has been solved on later models, the rests actually screw into place, but it's a quirk of the earlier ones. The foldable stand would come with it, plus a very good quality gig-bag. I'm the second owner, bought off a basschatter about 5 years ago. I don't want to post this, there's no hard case and I think it would damage easily. Happy to meet up within a reasonable distance, deliver if not too far or have it collected. I'm in Derby. TRADE options - a 4 string bass guitar of equivalent value.

If anyone can get it as far as the East Midlands; Derby, Nottingham, Leicester area I'm ready to take it north for a section, either side of the Pennines, Manchester or Sheffield side.

Lead Singers who play Bass!
Len_derby replied to Ted Theodore Logan, III's topic in General Discussion
Lee Jackson has never had the profile I think he deserves. I was lucky enough to see him live in Refugee , a prog trio with Patrick Moraz on keyboards and Brian Davison on drums. Very impressive. He was playing a mirror-shiny Rickenbacker as I recall.- 141 replies

' Love the Shads. I dep for a band of guys in their seventies who play a lot of their songs. Great fun to play and the audience really enjoy them. There's a documentary currently on BBC iplayer about Buddy Holly. Very good in itself but Hank Marvin is on and he talks about the influence of Buddy, especially in respect of the Stratocaster. Concerning the above band I dep for, the drummer brags that he's the only member who hasn't got diabetes.

I thought I'd start a thread for people to admit their, hopefully humorous, bass face-palm moments. This is inspired by what I did last night. I got my acoustic bass guitar out of its bag ready for a rehearsal today - prior to an unplugged gig we've got in March. The strings felt like they needed a bit of a clean. So, I said to the wife, "Have we any isopropyl alcohol anywhere?" She replied, "No, but you can use some of my vodka if you want". Five minutes later I go back to the room where she's watching television. "The good news is; it doesn't leave a stain and evoporates quickly". I'd only gone and knocked the open bottle over and most of it poured over the table and on to the floor. An extra Norman Wisdom touch was that next doors' dog was with me. I give her respite from their teething toddler. Being part Laborador she moves like stinky poo off a shovel if there's any hint of food or drink. I reckon she got a couple of generous doubles before I restrained her. Problem is, she'll expect that every time now and sit by the booze cupboard howling. The bass strings now feel much better though.

A beautiful area for sure. I used to go there for work and the lazy stereotype of 'flat East Anglia' is way off the mark. There are a few local members who'll be along soon. My gut-feeling is that regarding the music scene apart from the bigger towns and Norwich the critical mass of population may not be big enough for vibrancy. Might be wrong though.

I've just received a Speakon to jack lead off Chris. All well packed, plus a free patch lead thrown in too! Excellent deal all round and Chris even posted the items before receiving my payment. What a gent.

Travelling Midlands to Portsmouth area?
Len_derby replied to Len_derby's topic in General Discussion
Or anyone going to the Portsmouth area starting from further north than Derby? I'm happy to drive and meet someone 'passing through'. The Stagg EUB has a good quality gig-bag but there's no hard case I have that's big enough. -
Dear Basschat community, I'm selling my Stagg EUB to our own @basseng . Before I explore the courier options, is anyone travelling from the Midlands (ideally east Mids) to anywhere near Dave's home in Portsmouth? Appropriate remuneration on offer for anyone who can help out. Len

Being interviewed by Giles Peterson on R6 Music. Very interesting. Should be available on some sort of listen again shizzle.

I use both FB and BC. The pattern seems to have been as follows. Sell on FB. Stuff I no longer want, not looking to make a profit, easy local pickup or delivery. Buy from BC. More expensive specialist stuff that I feel confident has been usually cared-for. Don't mind travelling a distance to collect or meet part-way.

I hope that @Andyjr1515 can make it again this year.

Thanks for pursuing it Jed. I'm in. If mr Franko Di Blanko is prepared to come at that way I can definitely make the ten miles.

Disappointing experiance with new basses.

I agree with this one. One the reasons I haven't bought a new instrument from a retailer (online or bricks n' mortar) since 2005. -
Just 18 in all for 2019 2 as a dep for covers bands 6 with Daz Kelly - acoustic blues in the style of Eric Bibb 10 with Diamond Bridges - originals only rock trio. The year was a busy one musically though as Diamond Bridges wrote, recorded and released our first album.

I'm glad there's at least two of you that recommend this. When it came out there were some sniffy reviews in newspapers. Damn, this site has got me spending money again.

Yes. All your fault 😄

Nice one. I remember that lovely 5er at Midlands bass bashes.

An audition should be a two way thing. It's been said on here before but as well as being auditioned by the band you're also auditioning them. Twice I've been offered a position in a band after an audition but I've (politely) declined because I found out things during the session that meant it wouldn't be the right move. In neither case was it something I could have discovered in advance by research.

Muddy Waters and Roger Waters. Thankfully not identical twins, but I've always got them mixed up.

Well, I drove through Andy's village a couple of nights ago. There was a strange glow in the night sky and a low, insistent hum audible above the sound of my car. I thought it was Santa's Elves starting their shift. But no, it's another wonderous creation in the making! I'd love to see this one for real before it goes to the lucky owner.

All the best Lozz, you've been able to 'live the dream' and are now moving on to the next phase of your life. I've always enjoyed your posts on here, your attitude to what you do and your audience is brilliant.
