1. So, it's a Derbyshire hand-over on Friday night. BB Blackdog in Belper.
2. I've got one on my Japanese '57 RI. I've never seen one used for real, but I have a vague memory of seeing a picture of Brian Wilson with his bass strap hung that way. Or was it a strange dream?
3.
Would be good if someone playing at Bearded Theory in Derby could play the baton this weekend! http://www.beardedtheory.co.uk
Great thought Pete. The venue for the festival is literally a mile from my house, which is where the baton currently resides. So, who's having it next? Is everyone hanging back waiting for the freebies and glory? Or do people not gig as often as they like to pretend? .....Jim is doing a brilliant job on this - let's keep it moving!
4. Welcome Paul. Enjoy the forum. There's lots of information and entertainment on here.
5. Someone in Derbys./Notts. want the baton next? If I still have it over the Whitsun Bank Holiday (May 24-27) I'll be off to Anglesey! Anyone there?
6.
Well done everyone, we've just hit £467 on the justgiving page. What are the chances of us hitting £500 by the end of the day?
Time for the baton to move on ladies and gentlemen. Who's next?
7.
Nice one! You're probably right I use three different tunings in my cover band, and I chose to put the baton in Eb so that I was only using it on two songs. I'm a bit fussy about low action so it was a bit of a copout
I was transporting the PA (bass player, transporting the PA? Whatever next! ) Chris, so I didn't have a lot of space left over for a second bass anyway! CasaPete, sorry mate I had to leave first thing Saturday to get to my brother-in-law's wedding in Richmond Park. A bit of a hectic morning but there was a free bar to make up for the hassle.
8. Another fun night for the relay. £28 in the pot. I played the baton for the whole gig, personally I think this 'one song' business is a bit of a wimp-out. Anyway, including GAZM's £62 for last Friday, that's £186 for the cause in one week. Who's next? let's keep this moving!! (I'm the 11th name on the shirt)
9. Next leg of the relay tonight. Barn dance at Muggington village hall, Derbyshire. Live music by Dungeon Ghyll, featuring yours truly who will be root/five-ing the baton all night. Who's next?
10. Welcome Manuel, enjoy the forum.
11. I've got the chance to collect a bit more cash this weekend with the baton because I've got a barn dance gig. Anyone in the Derby/Notts area want it next after Monday 13th?
12. Took the baton to church this morning. I made a speech about the relay, waving the baton around like a demented King Arthur with Excalibur. I played it on all the songs in the service. Result - £96.50 in the pot
13. £61.70 in the collection boxes from Gazm's gig last night.
14. 'Morning all. There was a great double handover last night. From Chris Mussgrove (CHRISMUSS) to Pete Garyga (GAZM) and then to me. A great night of rockin' at a busy & lively Greyhound in Woodville. I'll count up the collection pots today to see what was collected on the night. The baton is now in Derby with me. I've got two chances to use it live in the next week & raise cash, and will be ready to pass it on after Sunday 12th. Anyone in Derby or Nottingham fancy the next leg? Photos will be posted later.
15.
We're at The Greyhound in Swadlincote so its a local one for me. https://www.facebook...88405721182063/
If you manage to get it I'll come and collect it off you (with camera).
16.
I finally signed up as i`ve been playing too much guitar recently and have become rather too fond of myself as a result.
Welcome Dave. Cover all the mirrors in your house - now. Hurry, it could be too late!
17.
Well I have a good gig on 3rd May if its still in the Midlands.
Gazm, If it got to you for this 3rd May gig I could collect it from you. I have a barn dance job on the 10th May and from me it could go to Nottingham. I know that there's lots of active BCers over there. Len
18. Welcome Thunderbird. There's no end to what you can learn from this forum. Lots of us will advise you that playing along with other people will accelerate your learning and skills massively. Plus, it's great fun.
19. Congratulations! That's brilliant news. Shame you're the other side if the country from me. It may be a good chance to sell a few copies of the book too?
20. Here's a story from the BBC website about the growth of rock-themed cruises. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22098778 If the 'trickle-down' effect happens I might get a gig or two on Markeaton Park boating lake. Now, where did I put that packet of Quells?
21. Welcome Chris. Which part of Germany do you live in? I used to spend time in Ludwigshafen/Mannheim during my BASF days. A fine country.
22. One of the barn dance jobs. Hat, shirt and bandana from a charity shop.
23.
Amazing things, I love mine so much and such a breathe of fresh air after years of using Hiscox cases. Happy Birthday and enjoy your gig bag, I quickly moved on to the Mono straps and also looking at their messenger bags for work.
I've got one of the Mono 'Producer' messenger-type bags. Excellent. I've also got a Gig-Skinz and I'd say Mono is definitely better.
24. Greetings Michael. I love the name 'horrorshowbass'. 'Been responsible for that many times....
25. Greg Ridley and Jerry Shirley of Humble Pie. The 'Live - Rockin' the Filmore' album is one of my rock favourites. They were a great unit and allowed Frampton and Marriott to stretch out
