1. you could also look under the innovation thread on the main DB EUB section http://basschat.co.uk/forum/78-innovation-double-bass-strings/. Daff does a trial, swap and review system for the different sets of innovation strings.
2. Since i got the laminate bass my stagg has been converted to a dust collector....i should use it more Seems like alot of the folk who start with a EUB end up jumping ship to the real thing in shortish order.
3. You getting Rehab for it? wrist excersises etc
4. Nice one mate, sounds like your having fun.
5. dont play in humid environments, might be catastrophic when the neck folds up due to moisture.

7. You really have two options buy new or pre-loved Having recently gone through the minefield of buying a Double bass the general feeling is to AVOID G4M. Like most things you get what you pay for, Stingraypete recently brought a nice bass new from Gedomusik.de for around £900 From what Pete has said it was decently setup to the style he required and arrived in good time, also came with a free bow and some rosin. There is also Thomann.de seem to have decent reviews for some of the cheaper bass I brought a Pre-Loved Bass from Ceilidhswinger yesterday for £900 and it was exactly as described a beautiful 3/4 curved blonde with loud voice Also if you buy from Forum members your not going to get taken for a ride. Not much help i know Also ask questions of the Double bass forum you will get many experienced responses
8. Whats with all the Double bass showing up in Northern Scotland now.
9. nah no pickups, was the wee bitty of tape the pickup was attached too. although for the flat or tutor i wont need amplification.
10. I havent been able to shift the EUB so i think ill use it for nearly silent practice when the bloke down stairs is sleepin Cause this new bass is loud I ordered the Stand over a week ago and its still in transit from Germany so against the telly it goes
11. Looks sweet mate, so many of us from the EUB camp are jumping camps.
12. I have just brought a Double bass from Ceilidhswinger. Good bloke and knowledgeable about all things Double bass and then some. He also threw in a soft case to ensure it gets to its new home in one piece. Would be glad to buy again from him.
13. Thats great, especially after such a long time. Have fun.
14. The joys of the internet, so much choice, so much information In the end you do something on gut instinct, might not be right but if you learn something its worth it
15. Will be buying the recommended french Yita bow, Though i am nervous about starting lessons as i have not been in any formal structured learning for over 14 years. just the unknown i suppose. As for the rosin well ill have a look around and ask more people it seems to be horses for courses. Also nervous and excited about the new bass, always a little worrying welcoming a new member to the family. Cant wait for the look on my wifes face when she realises the enormity of the instrument, and the fact i cant sell my Stagg EUB
16. Nice one mate.
17. More than likely though i do know Jarrah has a tendency to crack and warp if it is used before it is properly dry which can take many years But after it is dry its as tough as all hell and really quite beautiful. Ironwood is out of the question as its well like iron.
18. After looking at many a loverly bass and thinking about the smell of sawdust and varnish. My old man is a sawmiller and has several loverly slabs of Jarrah and Birdseye Sheoak in the shed the latter would look like http://i7.photobucke...eyeShe-Oak2.jpg after its finished and polished I went looking to see if anyone had done such a thing and only found a few Luthiers in Australia who have tried this bloke has/is and though its not finished it will be something special. http://bresque.studi...build-back.html anyway hope its worth the time, unlike my previous flaming ball of quivering mush
19.
Fingers crossed I am ordering my gedo bass tomorrow!
Always fun when you get large objects arriving at the door. especialy when you have a nosey neighbour makes you want to put a big label on the box saying DEATH RAY.
20. Like the title says Sounds mint
21. [sub]Looks like i am having to buy a bow.[/sub] [sub]After reading the thread i'll have to wait for the tutor to get back to me.[/sub] [sub]then i'll make an un-educated decision.[/sub] [sub]10 seconds after i posted this my Tutor got back to me and its French. [/sub] [sub]with a PS Brazillian wood is very good.[/sub] crap im going to have to make more than an educated decision arent I
