1. ...and replied. Looks like this is going to a new home!
2. Thanks for the kind words Nik! It's been a short honeymoon with this, but I guess I had to try it to find out if the 5-string thing was still me or not... As it happens, I did have a Roscoe Beck 4-string in Lake Placid Blue a few years back, which unfortunately I had to sell when money was tighter... still miss that one! I'll see what happens over the next few days... maybe she'll come back to me! PS The XL's feel great on the RBV- the B-string in particular feels and sounds much tighter compared to its Elixir counterpart...
3.
If you do end up getting a BB2000, bring it round and we'll compare notes lol Did you have this 5 string beast last time I was round? Looks ace
Ha ha, of course- it would need the Bobby K stamp of approval... Drop me a text and we'll sort out a catch-up!
4.
Etienne lives around the corner from me and is an absolute gentleman You can deal with him with total confidence All the best with it Et
Thanks mate, appreciate that! Hope you're well... PS Pics now added at the top!
5. Hi everyone, I bought this very recently from fellow BC'er (and super nice guy) silverfoxnik to get myself back into the 5-string world after several years away. After living with and playing this for a bit, I'm pretty convinced that 4 strings are still where it's at for me... it was nice while it lasted though! This is the second RBV I've owned, and it's a touch lighter and more resonant than I remember my previous sunburst one being. Since taking ownership, I've cleaned the frets and fingerboard, given the bass a bit of a set-up to suit my playing style (medium high action), and installed a brand-new set of D'Addario XL nickel-wounds, strung through the body. I feel that these suit the instrument better than the barely-used set of Elixirs it came with, but I'll include the old set so that you can judge for yourself! Here's the link to Nik's FS thread with some pics: http://basschat.co.u...__roscoe%20beck The bass comes with a well-used but functional Hiscox hard case (branded 'T-Bass by Trace Elliot'), the old set of Elixirs in the new D'Addario's packet, plus the plastic wallet containing the manual, control function sheets and hang tags. I'm looking for £1050 for this, including fully insured UK shipping (which is what I paid Nik for it), which means that I'm giving you the box-fresh set of D'Addario's for free! EDIT: SOLD AND GONE- 07/06/2013 Viewing/collection is highly recommended for this lovely instrument (I'm in Liverpool City Centre by Sefton Park). Please note: I will not ship the bass unless it's inside the Hiscox case I'm afraid, but I will happily sell it without if the bass is collected in person- I will of course adjust the price down accordingly. Please PM me if interested, thanks for looking! Etienne
6. Thanks mate!
7. Just took delivery of Nik's Teal Green Roscoe Beck V yesterday, and it's everything he said it was- what a great instrument! As many of you on here will know, Nik is a true gentleman to deal with, and did his utmost to keep in touch as things were being worked out- even whilst recovering from a very recent operation! Service beyond the call of duty indeed... Thanks again mate, and hope you're back up to speed very soon! Thanks and take care, Et
8. Thanks Nik, get well soon!
9. Jake's very kindly let me sit in at a couple of his gigs in recent times, so I've had the privilege of playing this a few times, and, well... it's a peach! The action is spot on, with a nice even string-to-string feel over the fretboard, and the neck is very comfortable for a fiver (I greatly prefer this to the Roscoe Beck V that I played for many years). The usual array of classic Jazz tones are all in there, and it's a great colour too! I'd love to have it myself, but think it'll be long gone by the time I have the funds... What's caught your eye now mate?
10.
Sold Etienne my Matamp cab - really nice chap and the whole deal was sorted with no problems! Thanks mate!
Thanks Chris!
11. Just bought a Matamp 2x12 cab from Chris- he was kind enough to drive it down from Lancaster to Liverpool early yesterday morning to complete the deal, which was much appreciated! The cab is in great nick, and worth every penny of the very reasonable asking price- my Simms-Watts head is very happy now... Thanks mate!
12. Just picked up Rob's Simms-Watts P.A. 100 head from his place yesterday afternoon- a nice easy deal for an incredible-sounding bit of kit! Thanks mate, nice to meet you! Etienne
13. +1 for the Walkabout- I use the head with a Berg EX112ER. The semi-para EQ's great for taming unwanted sub-bass rumble and dealing with nasty room resonances... Would love to get my hands on the Fdeck HPF though- looks like an essential bit of kit for cleaning up the signal from my Bassmax...
14.
I'm just in 'that' frame of mind at the moment - everything's in flux. I have a feeling that in three or four months' time, only my two Precisions will remain, and everything else will be different.
Hey Michael, this is interesting reading indeed! Are you really considering moving on the Bergs?! GAS for a pair of Baer ML112s by any chance?
15. That's wonderful indeed! I had one exactly like this in the late 90's, which I traded in and still miss to this day...
16. A quick shout out for my mate Jake- he's a lovely bloke and a fine bass player too! Deal with confidence... I had a play through this rig at an open-mic recently, and can testify to its immense output and tone- I'm pretty sure it wasn't DI'd, and it rocked the place whilst running on tickover!
17.
He gets my vote too !
Thanks Simon! Just got my Berg HS410 back home from the rehearsal room- the GK sounds incredible with it!
bought a gallien krueger 1001rb-ii from etienne, the amp is in stunningly good condition and sounds great! it was packaged well and sent really quick. it was a really easy pleasant transaction and i'd have no worries about buying from etienne again good stuff!
Thanks Matt, very kind of you! Enjoy the amp...
18. Matt just took delivery of my Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II this afternoon- another top Basschatter! Very fast payment, great communication, and comes across as a nice bloke too. Thanks mate, hope you enjoy blowing down some walls with it!
19. Amp now sold to Kingforaday- wow, I'm on a roll tonight! Thanks to all other interested parties, will PM you shortly...
20. Thanks for the bump mate, you read my mind! Just thought I'd add that since taking delivery of a lovely 700RB-II head this morning, this amp will now be posted in a genuine GK shipping box, complete with manual & shiny new mains lead! As an added bonus for potential buyers not wishing to rack-mount, the new head has kindly donated its side-mounted carry-handle and 4 rubber feet to its big brother. This means that the amp is now totally complete, with all the trimmings that you'd expect from buying new, and all for £350!
21. I just took delivery of a Gallien-Krueger 700RB-II head from Simon this morning- a quality bass amp described to a tee, great comms throughout, and dispatched quickly with decent packing... all good stuff! Many thanks mate, am sure we'll deal again at some point! Regards, Etienne
22. Ken just bought my Epiphone Allen Woody Bass today- a very straightforward transaction with him, with quick payment too. Welcome to Basschat mate, hope you stick around! Regards, Etienne
23. Thanks Fozza! For anybody else following the sale, the bass has just been sold to cusken... thanks for all your interest!
24.
I really like my Epi Rumblekat. It's a real head turner. I must get some flats for mine. Could I ask if you know what make the hard case is, please? I'd like to buy one for mine and the original Epi hardcases are as rare as the proverbial rocking horse excreta.
Unfortunately, I have no idea I'm afraid! There's no sign of a manufacturer's label on the case to suggest its origin- mine isn't an exact fit for the instrument anyway, so am sure there are better options available out there!
is this still available?
Looks like I already have a buyer lined up, but I'll let you know if anything changes...
