1. Great hardly used pedal in immaculate condition with original box. £65 posted *NOW SOLD*
2. There's a select few speaking sense here but come guys, I thought EVERYONE on this forum is a MUSICIAN. Clearly not...
3.
Not sure if I have attached the file correctly but was wondering if anyone recognised these strings. They appear pretty high tension to me.
Thomastik Superfexible. They're good strings, similar to spiros but with a bit less of a metallic edge to the sound.
4. I'd check out Chris Long's bass. Details are down this page https://www.musicalchairs.info/double-bass/sales. Never played it myself, but I've sat directly in front of him in the orchestra & he makes a hell of a sound on it. Proper orchestral workhorse for £5000. Thinks he's based in Cardiff now.
5. Cheers Barrie, it's a great bass but I always need 5 strings for work, otherwise I'd keep it.
6. A great P bass from Performance Guitars in LA. If you've never heard of them before they make & maintain instruments for the who's who of LA's session musicians. http://performanceguitar.com/ This bass has a standard wide early 60's neck with a slab rosewood fingerboard. The body is olympic white over fiesta red nitro in true vintage Fender style. You can see the red through a couple of dings here & there. It's a great playing instrument and sounds fat & warm like any good p bass should. I always had compliments from colleagues & sound guys when using it. The build quality easily compares to the likes of Sadowsky & US Lakland. Barrie (Molan) owned it before me when it was wearing black hardwear & a white pickguard. I much prefer it in its current vintage look. Selling as I only ever use my Celinder 5 these days. It's currently over at the Gallery in Camden if you want to try it out. 7. *SOLD* Great pickup but I'm just not using it anymore. Sounds natural and much less electric than piezo pickups with the correct placement on your bass. Equally good at amplifying both arco & pizz. Very easy to put on and take off. In good condition although the wooden carry box has a few scuffs. Schertler's web page http://www.schertler...-double-bass-2/ £225 posted
8. Think I've been a bit ambitious with the pricing on this. Now £4000, no offers
9.
Thanks for the interest, but the originals are a bit too much like hard work for me!
Wimp
10. Would a set of Original Flexocors interest you for the Belcantos?
11. Cheers Geoff, hope all's well with you. Just got this back & Laurence has done a great job with it. It's had the front & back off, with every single crack patched up from the inside, a new brace on the back (one of the originals had split) & the neck join has been redone and strengthened. It's now in great structural condition & should be good for years to come. It sounds good too if a bit tight at the mo. There's a lot of new wood in there, I'll be blasting it as loud as I can for the coming weeks & the sound will open up again in no time. It's currently strung with Spiros but I might stick on a set of Evahs. That's definitely the string for that bass.
12. A typical German Mittenwald shop bass from c1880. 7/8 size with a 105cm stop. It started life as a blockless but has since had a really nice blocked neck made by Mike Hart and retains the original scroll. It's a great chamber music and jazz bass, projects well and is very consistent string to string. I've owned it for about 4 years and it has seen regular professional use during that time. The bass has been with Laurence Dixon for the past few months undergoing a full restoration so will be in tip top condition when I get it back this week. Detailed pics will be up soon. I'm based in Catford, SE London for viewing and the bass is priced at £4000. No trades unless you have a good modern bass of similar playing qualities.
