1. I have a Finale & it's a great bow for the money. Handles really well & gets the string moving instantly. I've used it on many professional gigs. It sounds a bit cold compared my main bow but that one's worth about 3 grand. I've tried a couple of people's Yita bows and didn't like them at all. No experience with the ones from Thomann I'm afraid.
2. Hey Greg, just curious, how's this compare to the Dyn-b?
3. Cheers Rushbo, he's probably great but electrics are very different to acoustics!
4. As the title says really. My basses have only ever been to Roger Dawson & Malcolm Healey but could do with some suggestions local to my gig of the moment. Any good recommendations? All the best, Chris
5. Now withdrawn from sale. It's amazing what a new cab will do for your sound!
6. Go on Nick! I know you need another instrument to replace your Bryant
7. Last bump before I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks
8. This is a great little bass. I'd buy it but unfortunately the taxman has taken all my money and then some
9. Hi Clarky, how does this sound with the Acoustic Image heads, upright & electric? Quite tempted...
10.
Fantastic bass - I'm not given to hyperbole, but Chris Celinder makes amazing instruments. I've owned many 'high-end' basses over the years, Wal, Sadowsky, Sei, USA Lakland, Status, GB, Fender Custom Shop etc., but there's something indefinable about Celinders that sets them apart - if a bass can have a soul, these have one that is more alive than any other. Without exaggeration, the best jazz bass I've ever played. Suffice to say I own one of these.
Cheers Low, will be sad to see it go. It's definitely very alive sounding, really resonant. The preamp has a few boost switches inside & while engaged, it can do that classic Marcus Miller style active jazz sound. With the switches off & the passive tone rolled back a bit, it sounds like a good beefy vintage jazz. Awesome bass.
11. A real beast of a bass. I absolutely love playing it but I definitely feel more at home with a good precision bass instead. This one's been owned by a few basschatters before. I bought it from Fingerz about a year ago & before that it was owned by Flanker. Here's Jo's original sale thread with the pics http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1557914 I wouldn't mind if this didn't go but for now a trade with a Celinder precision 5 would be ideal. I know it's a bit of a long shot but fingers crossed. Not really interested in anything thing else at this time. As a straight sale it's £2200 firm. Not keen on posting this bass but potential buyers are welcome to try it out at my home in London SE6. All the best, Chris
12. Interested in the E & A, but what size are they?
13. Whereabouts are you based?
14.
Easy now Chris. I know what you're like!
Too late mate! The Flex deluxes are already on the bass, couldn't resist.
15. Found a great shop in Munich for strings etc. Very competitive prices & quick delivery (mine arrived in 2 days), and they stock C ext strings (unlike another well known German shop)! http://bassico.eu/?l=en
16. There's a an incredible amount of quality stuff here: http://contrabassconversations.com/
17. Anything by Richard Strauss, my favourite at the is Ein Heldenleben. Bloody difficult though, figure 9 is always on every audition excerpt list. Beethoven symphonies (3/5/7/9 are the best bass ones imo) Brahms symphonies Mahler 2 Mozart 38-40 Shostakovich 5
18. Hi Andy, these come with the backplate & foam included. This one's now on it's way to Clarky72 though.
