1.
' post='1202832' date='Apr 17 2011, 06:46 PM']Hi I am looking for a teacher of DB in the Bexley/Belvedere area of kent
Hi David, I'm based not too far away in Catford SE6 if that's any good for you. Have plenty of teaching experience, a degree in classical bass and a teaching diploma both from the Royal Academy of Music. Get in touch if you're interested. Cheers, Chris

4. I bought this bass around this time last year from a guy who hadn't played it in 30 years and it's really improved in the time I've had it, thanks to various setup tweaks by bass genius Malcolm Healey and regular professional use. It's a typical German Mittenwald shop bass from c1880. 7/8 size with a 105cm stop. It started life as a blockless bass but has since had a really nice new blocked neck made by Mike Hart and retains the original scroll. It's a great chamber music and jazz bass, projects well and is very consistent string to string. I'm based in Catford, SE London for viewing and the bass is priced at £4000. No trades unless you have a good modern bass of similar playing qualities (eg Bryant).
5. Lovely, I used to play one of Joel's later solo basses, just like this one only with the lion head scroll and violin corners. Beautiful instruments. Good luck with the sale.
6. I absolutely love this bass but unfortunately being quite old, it can suffer a bit in the hold of the plane and I'm a bit fed up with having it repaired all the time. It's probably not very likely, but are they any forum members that would be up for a trade with a modern instrument of similar value and playing qualities? 8. Try to relax more, let the weight of your arm do all the work and keep your thumb bent and flexible. Don't lock it in position, your tendons won't thank you for it. Check out Rinat's (LSO principal) hold on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2JanKszFoQ And some nice side on shots of Edgar Meyer's hold in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4uPK809WlM
9. Bought this a while back for my 2nd bass but unfortunately it doesn't fit properly. That bass has a really short tailpiece and the quiver hangs too low and won't fit in the case without removing it. 10.
seem's they're Steel wound http://www.pirastro.com/homeset.html
That's true but it's only the thin outer wrap that's metal, inside it's all synthetic. You could try them with a mag pickup but I doubt there's enough metal in there for it to work properly. Might be an expensive experiment if it doesn't work out.
11. I've got a Finale too and it is amazing for the money (about £300 all in and that includes a case). Nice weight, great balance, draws sound really easily. I'd recommend them to anyone. However, whilst it does punch well above weight, there's no way I'd compare to it an expensive wooden bow. Machine made carbon just doesn't sound anything like the finest quality pernambuco hand carved by a master craftsman. I would like to try an Arcus bow someday to see how they compare though.
12. Probably not, you need strings with metal cores for mag pickups.
13. They're great strings. As you know I've got through quite a few different sets but always eventually put back on the old flatchromes. I really fancy trying these on my other bass but unfortunately the tax man has wiped me out, you don't fancy a swap for a set of Evahs (C ext) by any chance?
14. Hi Damo, Are these the originals (White/blue spiral silks)?
15. Hey Clarky, glad you're liking the bass and I know what you mean about the sound not sitting so well. The one thing I was going to change on that bass before I sold it was the pickups. I really had my eyes on a set of Dimarzio model J's for it. They're meant to get quite close to the P sound from the neck pickup. Don't get me wrong, the original single coils are amazing but they just didn't sound thick enough for me in the mix.
16. Beautifully made strap in cow marble antique classic. This is the short version but unfortunately it doesn't go short enough for me (I'm too skinny and play sitting down most of the time). Has a small scuff on the inside but otherwise it's in good condition. £35 posted *NOW WITHDRAWN*
17. Great tuner in good condition. Complete with box. Has a Buzz Feiten mode so very handy for MTD owners. Sadly I no longer own my 535 and have plenty of other tuners so this is surplus to requirements. £30 posted *Edit - SOLD*
18. In good nick, plenty of life left in it yet. £10 posted
