Darn this bass, I have a complete love/hate relationship with it and I'd rather see it go to a good home rather than sit in its case and not be played. The cash would certainly help with the loan repayments for my double bass too. Not in any real rush to sell though and I'll be away from the 22nd till the new year. Chris

Ordered a new upright case form them about a month ago and it arrived in 3 days! I use them quite regularly and have never had a problem. Their prices on most things are very competitive too.

What are you using to amplify your double bass?

What a thread! I think the main thing for me would be for the cab to be reasonably light and have a very small footprint, the vast majority of gigs where I need an amp are pit gigs where it's being used just to beef up my acoustic volume. I think that's the main reason the GK microbass combo remains so popular, decent sound and it can fit anywhere. A few of the pits on a recent tour were so small I was struggling for space for my aguilar db112. I always try to play without an amp wherever possible though and just send my dynb straight to the desk. For the big gigs though it's a completely different story. For rock etc. I found that I couldn't use the house floor monitors at all (too many feedback issues) and had to rely on my backline. Best cab for that was my Bergantino HS410. I used an SWR 8x8 for a while too and always hired a SWR Goliath 4x10 for touring. The cab must have a very tight bass and be used with a fairly neautral sounding head. Not doing those type of gigs much anymore though but I think smaller speakers are definitely the way to go for those volumes. -

As much as I love this amp, it just doesn't work that well for acoustic upright which is what I'm playing most of the time. It makes my '72 precision sound amazing though. Deep, fat and warmer than any other solid state amp I've played through. It's in perfect condition and is mounted in a quality Gator 2U rackbag which is included in the sale. Also includes the footswitch to select between the clean and overdrive channels. I'm based in Catford, SE London. Not interested in trades unless it's a 2 channel AI Clarus III or Focus III. £550

Finally back home, been playing my other bass all week and still same hand problems so it seems like the RD isn't the cause. Keeping that in mind I've decided to withdraw the bass from sale so I can play it again once I'm better (need to take those heavy La Bella flats off the Fender). Any Bryant I've ever played has been amazing for the amount they go for. I'm quite tempted to get one of his orchestral models as my touring bass once I've sold my Mentec. Good luck with the sale.

Oh no! I still have your old AG500 AND a rather nice Gibson RD that I'm selling. I'm in Hull this week too. Do I need a massive amp to replace them though? (need to have a bit of a think)

I've had this bass nearly 2 months now and it sounds, plays and looks absolutely amazing. The only problem is I'm now starting to get tension problems in my right wrist due to the body shape. I've tried to get around this by slightly altering my technique but nothing seems to work and I can't afford to give myself tendonitis. It's in natural maple and in well played condition, nothing unusual for a bass made in '78 though. All original except for one screw in the pickguard and the strap buttons which have been changed to Schaller straplocks. Comes with the original case which is pretty well worn and has had the handle replaced. You can get a wide variety of sounds from the Moog pre. It's a heavy beast but is perfectly balanced with no neck dive. Sold I'd prefer not to post but could meet by car depending on distance. I'll get some pics up tomorrow when I get home. cheers, Chris
