1.
Hey man, if you can wait till Thursday I'll take the 21 footer off you. Need to wait till payday you see. If that's cool, how do you like yer reddies? PayPal? Bank Transfer? P.S. I think I've met you before, here in Edinburgh. Your drummer, with Big Strides anyway, Lewis is the big bro of one of my pals, Debbie. I came to see guys play at Cabaret Voltaire, last year, or maybe the year before. Awesome gig, had a wee natter with Lewis after, so I'm pretty sure we where introduced. How's the new album coming along? Cheers, Eude
Hi Eude, It's a small world! Love Edinburgh and that club's a great venue. New album sounds great, think it's in for mastering at the mo and should be out soon. Unfortunately I've since left the band so won't be doing the next Japan tour to promote it. Gutted. No worries about Thursday but I'll be gigging in France then and won't be back till Monday so can send it after that. If that's ok I'll stick it on hold and we can sort out paypal when I get back? Cheers, Chris
2.
Hi Chris, thanks for the reply. I have a variety of basses and was hoping to be able to use them all through the same unit...the idea being that it would be cheaper than getting a preamp installed in each of my basses ...which would cost a lot. Most of my basses are active.
In that case why not try a dedicated outboard bass pre like the EBS Microbass or the Aguilar tone hammer. There's loads of info on the site on the microbass and the Aguilar is soon to be released. Neither have full parametric eq but I've never felt the need for it with electric bass. I'm quite interested in the Aguilar myself, it would save me bringing my rig to a lot of gigs.
3. Hi there, Welcome to the forum. I have an equinox for sale at the moment. Great piece of kit and works brilliantly for double bass. Being desiged for piezo pickups it has a very high input impedence (3.9M ohm if I rember correctly) so should work fine with passive bass guitars but may not work properly with active ones. What instrument are you intending on using with it? Chris
4. Yeah, that comment was slightly tongue in cheek. Loads of people use chamber basses because of their size, Edgar Meyer and Dave Holland to name a few. Easy to tour with, and small scale means you can shred with ease. Whilst they can be great for the virtuoso and small ensemble stuff, imo they can't reproduce the same fundamental as the bigger instruments. I suppose it's down to what sound you want. Personally I prefer more depth to my sound.
5. Way too many cables lying around the house so these are up for grabs, one's 21ft, the other 12ft. Right angled jack to straight jack. Great heavy duty cables. Good condition. ALL SOLD
6. The Fishman Full Circle is great, and I just happen to be selling one (shameless plug)
7. I play french cause it's what i started on. If I'm bored in rehearsals I'll switch to german, can't play with one at all though. It's like writing with my left hand.
8. What a find! £75! You'll spend a hell of a lot more getting them sorted though. My advice is stick that cello straight on ebay as it is, get the 1/2 size set up properly and that crack sorted (depending on cost) and then sell it too, (it ain't a bass if it's that small). Then you'll have a decent pot to do up the 3/4 properly. Word of advice though, a guitar is a very different instrument to a bass. If you can't find a dedicated bass luthier in your area, a violin/cello luthier is the next best thing.
9. Can't believe this didn't sell! One of the very best 410s on the market at less than half the rrp. Have a bump.
10. Take 2 Only a day to go, fingers crossed
11. Same here, just take my trusty p bass and if anything goes wrong, fix it on the gig. That's half the fun. I had my E string snap on my double bass once, had to play the entire second half on one string cause the tuning was so f****d. I do always carry spare strings and a spare bow to gigs though.
12. EA is now sold! SWR relisted http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=013
13. Neither can I, though the reason I'm selling it is to buy a tiny neo cab!
14. Only a few hours to go! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...rksid=p3907.m29 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Euphonic-Audio-iAMP-...86.c0.m14.l1318
15. Only a few days to go on the bay, SWR now at a massively reduced price as I really need to shift it soon.
16. Cheers for the suggestions guys, a trip to Mark's and The Gallery is in order this week me thinks. Love the look of the tweed and the chocolate aggies, and they're much cheaper than the others.
17. Hi guys, I've just put up my full circle pickup in the for sale section if anyone's interested http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=24460 Cheers, Chris
18. Fishman Full Circle pickup - SOLD Brilliant natural sounding pickup, a lot cleaner, more focused and more feedback resistant than the Gage Realist. It's the 6 x 1mm version so if you already have bridge adjusters of that size, just can just swap them out to install the pickup. Alternatively, a good luthier will install it for about £30. I've just ordered a Schertler pickup for my new bass so the Fishman won't be getting any use. Further info can be found on the Fishman website http://www.fishman.com/products/details.asp?id=17 Dtar Equinox preamp - SOLD Preamp with a 3.9m ohm input, 3 band parametric eq and 2 notch filters for getting rid of feedback. Great unit but it's just not getting used. LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI preamp - SOLD Preamp with a 10m ohm input, notch filter and phase switch. Can be run on 9v battery or phantom. Rugged metal stompbox format. Old strings Spirocore weich full set - SOLD Pirastro Obligato full set - SOLD Spirocore mittel E - SOLD Corelli 370TX full set - SOLD Pirastro Obligato G D A - £15 - well used Pirastro Permanent C ext - £30 - as new Pirastro Original Flat chrome E - £30 - as new A. Schroetter French bow - £250 Nice quite light pernambucco stick, nickel mounted ebony frog. It's a good student bow which I used when learning right up to my first year at college. Need to get a better spare bow so this is up for grabs. Pics will be up soon
19. The Bergantino is now gone (cheers Toasted) and I've now joined the Aguilar club!
20. These are brilliant cabs. When on tour, my hire rig of choice is nearly always a SWR SM-900 and Goliath 410. Very good price too.
21. I'm going through a complete change of gear at the mo, moving down to something a lot more portable for every day use. I'll be in possession of an Aguilar AG500 tomorrow and I'm looking for a 12 cab (well two 12s) to go with it. Current contenders are Bergantino AE112, HT112er/EX112, Epifani UL112, Aguilar DB112. Any thoughts on these cabs? Basically, the cab has to have a great deep smooth sound but still with enough detail as I'll be using it with an old flat strung precision and a double bass. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
22. Bergantino - trade pending SWR - on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SWR-Henry-the-8x8-ba...p3286.m14.l1318 EA - on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Euphonic-Audio-iAMP-...p3286.m14.l1318
