1.
I really want this, but I don't know what I do with it
I've got the manual floating about somewhere ...it's extremely informative! It's suprisingly easy to use once you get the feel for the buttons and screen layout.
Just purely out of curiosity (sorry, but I'm a Kontakt user these days), could I ask how much these sold for when new? And what year they came out? I always find this sort of info fascinating. I remember very well the Emulator II htting the market for about £8k!
I don't know for sure, I was told they were up there in the thousands though! Insanely bad resale value...
2. Thanks man. yeah they really are incredible bits of kit...but I think there are people who appreciate them. I must say not only is it much cooler than using a computer for sampling, it's also a lot more fun and I think it's a lot easier. You can physically manipulate the samples and it all just makes a lot more sense to me.
3. Bump for pictures... The Virus on top is also for sale, check my other thread if interested!
4. Brilliant, thanks for clearing that up guys. Just found out that I have to pay £600 that I owed my Landlord, so the cab is going to have to wait a bit now. Bugger!
5. Okey dokey, so: The head is a 500w hybrid (switchable between 4ohms or 8ohms) - Say I order a 212 cab at 8ohms, I wouldn't be using the whole power of the head, but I would be able to get another cab (at 8ohms) later, and get the full 500w out of it? Jeff said the wattage of the cab is extremely important - I think he said that I would need a much higher powered cab to be able to use it comfortably. He said I would need a cab at about 1000w to make sure it would sound clean - is this only if I get one 4ohm cab? Would I need to get a 500w, 8ohm cab to start with, and then get another one later if I need? It's kinda tricky business... Jeff also said I could come to the factory and try out any cab I wanted with my head, and bring a drummer and guitarist along with me and try them out in a band situation. Which would be absolutely great...but I wanna get the technicalities sorted first.
6. I've got to sell my beloved Akai to fund my new rig - it's a brilliant piece of kit. It's in perfect working order and very good condition, except the backlight for the screen doesn't work, which is common on pretty much all Akai samplers. I've got the instruction manual, which apparently is quite rare...without it I would've been completely lost to be honest! Here's a link to technical specs: http://www.theprodigy.info/equipment/Akai_S2800.shtml Pics to come. I'm looking for £50. I can send it but it's quite heavey, so collection is also welcome! I'm based in Birmingham. Pics to come very soon! Cheers, Zak
7. Right, I called Jeff at matamp today. He's such a friendly guy and was extremely informative - we chatted for quite a while about what would be best for me. I said that I was after a 212 and he suggested that I go for the 410. I can't exactly remember everything he said, as there was a lot of information coming my way! I am trying to work out what would be best for the Bass Terror. He said that it is extremely important to get the right specs, which of course I know, but now I'm a bit confused. To get the best out of the bass terror, what specs would I need in the cab? the watts and ohms and technicalities have me a bit puzzled. No experience with amps and cabs here!

Matamp

yeah man. I'll bring it round when I'm back in suffolkland in the summer!
9. I've been doing a lot of research on the Terror - and from what I've gathered the 1000w version is a bit excessive, and the 500w will give you plenty of volume. I can't really advise on your cab selection as I'm in a similar situation to you, but I would say that maybe you don't NEED such a big rig...
10. PIMP is what I'm after! This is sorted then. I'll let y'all know how it goes!

Matamp

Ah cheers man, I'll be in touch with them soon. Pretty excited to finally have a decent rig!
12. Thanks guys, these are all such useful replies. It's good to hear from someone who has both - I loved the sound of the LB and I imagined it incredible for recording but at the price I need something that can do LOUD live stuff too. I think I've made the right choice, as I've started gigging more regularly. Maybe, MAYBE my Sterling through the Terror could be a tad aggressive for recording with my folky stuff, but we'll see. I'm not too bothered about EQ either, the active EQ on the Sterling is enough - I leave my current amp flat and do it all on the bass anyway... I've decided to pair it up with a white matamp 2x12. It's going to sound and look absolutely SICK.

Matamp

Cheers guys, looks like what I want. How much do they go for generally and where do I buy one?
14. You can order them direct from music man, any music man dealer can get for you!

Matamp

I've been looking for a decent 2x12 cab to go with the Orange Bass Terror when i get it sometime next week. It seems 2x12 cabs aren't too common...the ones I've liked the look of are the Matamp ones. Seems I'm an amp noob, so what's the deal with these? Cheers
16. I've been away for a while, came back for a little advice on amps, and now I'm on here for HOURS
17.
OBT's....Great amps! I use my mine mainly for reggae/dub stuff and love the tone.
That's great to learn, as I love aggressive punk bass - and play primarily in a punk band, but reggae is my true love! This time next week I'll have one, and let you know what I think.
18. Nice demo ...cheers for the link! I'm gonna go for it. A few days until I have the cash, then it's done. Looking at a matamp 2x12 cab too...then I'm set!
19. Just got this album. It's beautiful to say the least.
20. Cheers man, yeah this really is a fantastic synth. Buy it so I can buy bass things!
21.
If you buy from http://www.soundsliveshop.com/p/Orange_Ter...Bass/OS-BT500-H you can save 10 or 15% by entering the code ORA15 or ORA10 - just going from memory but one of those will work (the other won't!). I saved on both my head and cab AND I've given the link & code to others here and saved them money too
Brilliant, thanks for that - the Orange is much cheaper anyway, and now this...awesome.
Hands down, get the BT. Definitely. Massive volume, ace dirt. Big fat tone. Grindy if you want it.
Sounds perfect. Have you had experience with one? As you have many Music Mans (I'm exclusively playing a Sterling now) I'll be interested to hear a more in depth 'review' ... I think I'll just go for it and it'll be awesome. First ever amp purchase!
22. Well there's a couple on ebay at the moment, ending at about the same time as my synth (Access Virus B if anyine's interested! No shame here...) so I might just buy one as soon as my auction ends and see how it works out. I'm also looking for a decent cab as well, I like 2x12s, but to be honest I've never bought a seperate head and cab so don't know what I'm looking for on that front...
23. Thanks for the replies guys, I just popped down to PMT and they've sold the only OBT they had the other day. Not sure where to look now ...I checked around Birmingham yesterday and couldn't find anything. Keep the info coming!
