2.
Tom Waits, a truely unconventional genius.
What's he BUILDING in there!? Love the guy. I own all his albums (legally too!) I refer you to this tune by Howlett, my original post:
3. Ah, here we go, this is the stuff! Love it!
4. Again, definitely not my thing but that recording sounds absolutely great. Well done man.
5. I've had 10 basses, and I'm 18. Only one amp though, my trusty Laney thing. Sounds great!
6. Barenaked Ladies' new album is insanely good. Very interesting stuff going on...
7.
Now can I get back on the fence?
No, now you can fack off to your Britneyless hell hole of a habitat, and wallow in your own filth/drown yourself in progressive jazz. Or just don't listen to the song...I've taken another route and bought all her albums off amazon.
8.

To me this is just a chore to listen to. Yeah it's technically impressive and all but... thisnameistaken, you definitely have a point about Britney's voice, it is the weak point of the song (and probably the lyrics too, but who listens to lyrics anyway?), but the wonders of the production just make it 'work'.
9.
I used to hate pop music on principle. Love it now. The production is an art in itself.
This. I think throwaway pop is my favorite 'genre'. Everything sounds friggin' great, and you can sit back with your massive speakers or quality headphones and just go 'woah, these guys know what they're doing' or 'that sounds sh!t hot' What I love about other Britney tunes is the insane funkyness. Basslines that in soooo in the pocket it's unbelievable, with the mandatory cheeky slap or pop every now and then. The music isn't touching by any means. I've only ever been truely moved by a few pieces of music and I love those - but would hardly ever choose to listen to them. It's all about the beats and riffs man! Thigs like this however, are truely inspiring. To me:
10. You may think "pah, Britney", but give it a listen on some semi decent speakers or headphones. I regard this to be a masterpiece, incredible production. I always wonder who he bass players are on tracks like this, because they're always immense.
11.
Duarte - THANK YOU Without people like yourself, people with this disorder would remain in their own little cocoons My 6 year old son is severely Autistic with very little communication (A lot of screeching and screaming though),but with the help of his teachers and specialists,he does have an active interaction with some people now.I couldn't work with these people,I have to live with one as he is mine (And I do love him dearly),but it takes a special kind of someone to actually chose to work with them, and for that, thank you
Thanks for the kind words! I love this job and to be honest can't really see myself doing anything else. We have such a good time...except we had a slight mishap today where the poor guy kept hitting himself in the head and biting his wrists, as soon as we got some cream on it he was smiling again, fantastic. If you need any advice just PM me as I have some experience, but more importantly I know some incredible people who will always be happy to help.
12. I'd say...possibly Liam Howlett, probably Michael Jackson, he was pretty good in his time wasn't he/
13.
Exactly - I do top pro shows, I'm on the BBC's Strictly tour at the moment, but I still do little function jobs & amateur shows, etc. Paid work is paid work, no matter how prestigious or otherwise.
That's a good gig. That Strictly band is INSANELY good!
14. Flea knows when to shut up. Mark, just SHUT UP for once! I went through a phase (when first starting) of loving Flea, then I thought, wait, these things are not technically impressive or melodic in any real way - and I went through a phase of not liking him at all. Then I realised, wait, this guy is mental and it really does work. I like Flea.
15.
what type of autism does the fella have Duarte?
if you were to put him into a category I suppose he would be 'Classic Autism' - but when I started working with him about a year ago I was told he had "Severe autism, learning disabilities and other challenging behaviours". He can't speak, but can understand what is being said to him to an extent, whether he chooses to acknowledge what you say is another story! I firmly believe that he is a genius in his own right. He uses his little book (which is there in the picture) to point at a picture of something that he wants (usually a jigsaw puzzle, pancakes or 'the shop') and we can communicate by using hand gestures such as high fives or waving. I gave him my first ever bass, an encore P bass, and he loves it! ...however he just puts it in his mouth...we'll get there though!
16.
I miss Jimmy Preston
Fabulous!
17. There's some epic stuff going on here! I'm frikkin' loving some of these tunes. It's times like this that I wish that our EP was done...only a few weeks left.
18. Jim Creeggan of Barenaked Ladies, his lines and playing are intense.
19. I think it looks cool. But then again I like MusicMans. I think everyone should liven up and like more things!
20. Wazoo, you have such great stuff.
