1. I don't believe I just read this thread. Ugh.
2.
Just chilling in a pub down the road, about to head down.
The Worlds End? How was the gig? I'm so pissed off that I couldn't get there.
3. You can also specify fingerboard material (Maple, rosewood, ebony, pau ferro - only on fretless) Fretless can have lined or unlined, but on fretted you always have the markers. On StingRays you can choose either the typical Ray neck, or a Sterling neck. You also have the EQ choice (2 or 3 band, and 4 band on the Bongo/Big Al/25th/Reflex) On the 'Classic' series you can specify flamed or birdseye maple, glossed or unfinished neck. Piezo is only available on single pickup models, except the Bongo. Most models are offered in 4 or 5 (or even 6) string variants. There's obviously a pickguard choice as well. There are many models out there with fancy tops, just have look.
4. Hi GreyDad, of course I remember you on the EBMM forum - you should post there more often - there's a whole new range of SWEET STUFF going on.
5. Yeah it's Lava Pearl. The photo really doesn't do it justice!
6. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
7. Right, I managed it no problem. The worst bit was some steep stairs on the underground...and on the way back I managed to catch rush hour. But it was a fun experience. The recording went extremely well, took us a week to lay down the bass tracks and they sound pretty good. When they're all mixed and that I'll put them up on here. Cheers guys.
8. You guys do realise they aren't replacing the old SR5s? Also they are 'classic', therefore 2EQ only, single H. Booooooooooooooootiful.
9. ALso, I reckon (although having never played one) opinions will start changing after people hear it and feel it - like people dismissed the Bongo at first. Maybe this will be one of those ones that everyone hates the look of (and I can't understand why - it just doesn't look like a fender I suppose...) but when they play it they go "ooooh"...maybe.
10.

Man, is that my old one? Looks great!
11. That looks absolutely great. I'd love to hear how it sounds...and feel how it plays. Good work!
12.
Yuck, just my oppinion, looks a bit like the guitar Alvin lee plays (AXIS i think?)
That would be the 'Albert Lee'...hence this is called the 'Big Al' - it's the same shape (headstock and all) which has been around for over a decade. Edit: Ahhhh beat me to it!
13. Yes, the Bongo is beautiful - I have another one on the way. Then I plan on getting one of these single H Big Al's - I prefer the idea of these to the 3 single coil ones. But I think they look great, it's not as if it's the pointiest bass ever made, just a cool funky shape...
14. Yeah it's 3/4 - the hardcase is big enough to accomodate a full size so I'll just take the gig bag. Thanks for the replys guys, you've put my mind at rest. I'll bring the clothes I am wearing, and maybe some more stuffed into the bass case (so no more bags) - I'll be spending the week with 3rd year students in their house, so I doubt that I'll bother them if I begin to smell.
15. Awesome. Anyone have any experience getting across the underground with one?
16. Thanks for the reply. I thought this might be the case - and it's true - a bass is not that much bigger than a few bikes or something like that. I'll just hop on the train and see what happens!
17. Okay next week I'm off to Southampton to record an EP with my brother who is at University there. This project means I must use my double bass, but apparently it is 'too big' and they will not allow it on the train. SO is there anyone in Southampton kind enough to be able to let me borrow a double bass from monday - friday next week? I know it's a long shot, but worth a try. Just in case you might be interested, the recording is going to comprise of 5 children's songs, and once it is done I would love to share it with you guys. Thanks Zak
18. Wow, looks like a Jazz Bass. Beautiful, none the less.
19. Possibly the ultimate combination of artists...Toots, Bootsy, and The Roots Insane funk right here.
20. "If you buy this you will regret it" Brilliant.
21. I saw them at Madstock and was left unimpressed, I was gutted. The Pogues just blew them away...maybe it was just a bad night for them as everyone I've met who have seen them always say they are incredible.
