I've owned a single H and an HH (granted the single H was a SUB, but it's essentially the same beast). The HH did provide a lot more tonal combos than the SUB did, the neck pickup sounded more precisiony than you could get from the SUB, but a little bit on the deep side, i'd say HS for the best of both worlds, just so that the neck pickup isn't too overpowering. The HH or HS only gets in the way of slapping if you have poor technique.

holy thread revival batman! That's a gorgeous sabre by the way

I'd say a stingray HH, the one I had was good for pretty much any sound, except that balls out warwick growl, which is what i was really after!
Thanks for pointing that out :-)
I'm not sure if that was a slightly sarcastic remark or not, but I'm just saying, it can take a little while to shift them, try and be patient. If you get rid of it on here, you'll probably be better off than doing it on ebay. -
Microphonic valve. Tap them with a chopstick when it is on. Is most noticeable if it is one early in the signal path, as there is more gain afterward, so if you have no spares, can do some swapping to lessen the problem.
cheers, i'll give that a try -

Hmm possibly, i'm not entirely sure if it's spring reverb or not EDIT: yeah i think it is -
I know it's not a bass amp, but I thought you tech-heads might know. I bought a little 20W ashdown valve combo used from a local music shop a couple of months ago, and today it's started making a little rattling sound when playing, or if i tap the amp lightly... It's pretty irritating, and it's coming out in recordings as well. It only makes the sound when the amp is on, not on standby or when it's off. Any ideas? I thought it might be a loose valve or something, but seeing as it doesn't happen when it's off, it may not be? EDIT: sorry i just realised this should probably be in technical issues, feel free to move it, mods.
hope it doesn't get nicked...
It's all insured buddy, I'm not daft
Nice set up! I really wish that my set up at uni was more formidable, but I just don't have the space!
Yeah, our halls are pretty old and don't have en-suites etc so the rooms are a lot bigger than the more modern ones. Pretty cheap too.
What hardware are you running that through?
*ahem*... it's a slightly not-so-legal copy of pro tools, as i can't really afford it, it came with a hardware emulator called XVX, which basically allows you to use pro tools with any sound card you like, so i'm using my lexicon lambda.
Cheers Pete After researching some colours I thought it was butter creme, but when I gave the serial number to the boffins on the EB forums I was told it was white! I'd love to get a white pearl scratch plate for it, but I'm having some trouble finding a template for the newer style pickups.
Yep, that's white, buttercreme is darker and was a limited edition and as such came with the limited hardcase and inscription on the back, just below the neckplate. I think they all had painted headstocks too.

Colin
That's a beauty! I'd love to own a bongo one day, it's not high on my list of priorities though.

Aye, i found the sound i wanted in a warwick corvette $$, however the shinyness of a stingray HH lured me away, briefly, i'm back with a warwick $$ and haven't had any GAS since And this was almost a year ago now. Before that, I would have had a new bass every 3 months or so.
