Staff completely dis-interested, some poor noob with his parents trying to decide what rig to get for his yet to be formed function band and no-one trying to help.. very very poor... Mark
Yeah, i'm fairly sure the PA centre is owned by the same lot as the bass cellar etc

Bolin Basses... the shortest thread ever! ;0)
budget bassist replied to warwickhunt's topic in Gear Gallery
If it's the same one it was in that shop a couple of years ago, I called up about it when on the hunt for one. IIRC it's a 5 string and despite it being there for at least a year when I called, they wouldn't budge on their price of about £2k
Yeah, some of the prices on their gear is a tad, shall we say, optimistic... I don't think they shift too much gear though. -

Just sold a bass to Dave, he was a true gent to deal with and very patient, I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. Many thanks Sam

Bolin Basses... the shortest thread ever! ;0)
budget bassist replied to warwickhunt's topic in Gear Gallery
I can contribute to this thread by saying, one of the local music shops in nottingham had/has a Bolin... however, I never played it.... That is all! -
Depressingly enough, I can't think of a single musical achievement that I'm actually proud of...

That is a thing of beauty! The bridge still looks a little out of place, but there's not much you can do about that i suppose.

Selling a line 6 spider III 30W guitar amp. No problems, pretty much mint cosmetically, selling because i'm upgrading. Fairly standard beginner/intermediate amp, has a wide range of sounds, so pretty much perfect for bedroom practice. I don't have any photos of the amp at present, but if you want some, i can get them. Looking for £65, picked up from bangor, north wales, or from nottingham over christmas. I'd rather not post, due to the bulkiness of the item. Cheers

I think the point is that they're amazing basses, for the money. I'd never call a squier VMJ an amazing bass, but for the money, you're really hard pushed to find a bass that is better built, better looking, better sounding, better feeling etc. The higher end Fenders are very subjective in that way, and I'm not too fond of them.
Balls - sorry Budget Bassist, I hadnt read the ad properly, I didnt realise it was fretless. Nice bass tho, as the last guy said, Id have had it if it was fretted. Sorry again, but in the words of those appalling 'Dragons' - "Im out!"
no worries

For sale is a Squier VMJ fretless in immaculate condition, there some small surface scratches on the back from playing, but nothing deep/particularly visible, and no dents. I'm asking for what I paid for it, £150 plus postage, though I would prefer collection from Bangor, north wales if possible, or nottingham in a few weeks when I come home for christmas. NOW SOLD I'm looking for a straight sale for now, though I may be interested in a part exchange (money my way) on a Sansamp BDDI or similar (Aguilar Tonehammer etc). Apart from that, I'm not interested in trades. I'll get some photos up, if OBBM doesn't mind me using his, but it's basically mint as I've hardly used it, hence the sale. edit: pics up

I don't buy and sell on here purely to make a profit, however if i want to move a piece of gear on, i'll sell it at what i perceive to be the market value. I'll buy and sell on ebay for a profit, but not on here. That's not to say I wouldn't buy something a for a good price, intending to play it, and then sell it off for a profit a few months later, having not gotten on with it as well as i would have hoped. I've done that once before in a big way, and i contacted the previous owner about it, and he was fully aware of the value of the bass and totally happy for me to do so, as was the buyer. As it's basschat though, i'm more than happy for people to haggle a little, as you guys say, it is a community. I can't afford to let things go for silly prices though, so i don't. If i was better off, then maybe i would be more generous, but that's mot the case, and i'm sure many people on here can appreciate that.
Shep
I'm amazed you fit all that lot in there and had any room for punters! Seriously! -
You don't know the 20th may not prove to have much commitment yet... Tait - can you also add the proposed fate above the list on post one for reference?
Don't worry about it, there's a total of about three weekends between now and april in which I'll actually be in Nottingham, all of which are around christmas/new year.
-
I'll definitely not be there then, hope you guys have a good time anyway.

The Grosvenor was fine the both times i went there, however I'm currently at university in North Wales and won't be back until Christmas (just responding because Luke sent me a PM), so unless it's between the 20th of dec and the 10th of Jan, I won't be there. Don't let me influence whatever weekend you decide to have it though.
It does indeed. I'd reckon it's ash, though. Really. Don't think Fender made the Jazz with alder back then. Doubt it. But if that's what the ad says. But, in any case, see post 36.
From the grain, it looks a lot more like alder than ash, to my eyes.
