1. That was a ridiculous price! i was thinking of buying that just to sell it for a profit!
2. Yeah it should do, i think it's pretty much the same thing
3. Hi, would anyone be able to get hold of an OLP MM2 (standard 1 pickup 4 string stingray copy) wiring diagram for me please? I bought a control plate and pickup off ebay and i'm getting a body soon and i'm not too sure where the pickup wires went (maybe kevbass could chime in with some help?). I'm also planning on rewiring it to a side mounted jack because the body has a hole for one, it's also routed for two pickups and i plan on making use of that and adding a pickup blend knob into there too... Any help with that would be appreciated. I'm also considering just using a separate volume knob for each pickup rather than volume and blend if it might be easier. Also does anyone know what the current configuration for the control plate is? Is it volume bass treble or volume volume treble? Sounds weird but i believe a tone pot is just a volume pot with a capacitor? And there's only one capacitor in there. I might just rewire the whole thing to be honest, can it be that difficult?
4. I don't use a trace but i always like to boost the bass and treble a fair bit just to give it a bit of low end thump but still have it cut through and to compensate a bit for the fact that i use my fingers rather than a pick (i play metal) and leave the mids around 0 ish, cutting or boosting where appropriate, i am of course always changing my settings though. I do put the EQ on flat for my G&L though.
5. Haha awesome, I KNEW that was going to be download festival before i even saw the stage! Haha and in the spirit of the festival: Same festival, same year, black campsite And yes, that is a suit made entirely of binbag and gaffa tape, the security guard searching me didn't know WHAT to do! pmsl
6.
He's not wrong there...
+1! haha Sounds like an awesome shop though, i really like smaller family owned shops that are just the one shop, no chain. The business means more to them than it does a big chain and they tend to have much better customer service.
7.
And there's me thinking I'd grown taller than my hair!
LOL you guys are seriously making me laugh today
8.
They're getting that mission statement engraved over the door Cheers Mark
Haha that would REALLY make me laugh!
9.
Mine's only small but there's 17 stone rammin' it home....did I say that out loud?
Haha that one made me LOL rather a bit!
10. Fair enough, i generally leave mine for about a year before changing anyway, it gets expensive otherwise! Also upon closer inspection, my G string (oh god) isn't quite sitting in the nut properly, might borrow my sister's nail file haha. It's been like that since i changed the strings about 4 months ago though so it's not really a problem.
11.
Looks like a Gotoh GB 7. hipshot If you have trouble getting one Ican order one up with my next Hipshot order. Alan
Yeah i was going to mention that but i couldn't see a screwhole... And i THINK that's the same one
12. A foodswitch? I want one!
13. Yeah, it looks alright for doing simple routing, but it doesn't look very good at doing curves... at all
14. If it's the same scale and the frets are in relatively the same place (they are, i compared that neck to my SUB bass before i sold it to you) and the pickup has the same dimensions as a musicman one, then the measurements i gave you should be right, that is if you want it to go in the same place as a ray. A few mm out can't make a huge difference anyway can it? That said i like the positioning of the bridge pickup on my G&L. It's closer to the bridge than the one on my SUB so it sounds a bit more trebly, i quite like it. Up to you though.
15. Ah sounds pretty sweet, good luck with that
16. I don't think a new nut will make a huge difference to be honest if the old one is fine, just wait til it wears out. Also that looks pretty nice, i've always liked 3TS jazzes without pickguards, very jaco-ish. I'm GASing for a jazz right now too... grr
17. Oh dear... that really is beautiful! black paint + black PG + rosewood board + goldhardware = absolute magic IMO Good luck with the sale, if only i weren't so skint and hadn't just bought a G&L...
18. You make a good point, and i'm sure if someone like john paul jones or lemmy or the late john entwistle walked in then they would probably treat them like royalty, but the fact of the matter is, we shouldn't have to look like we have cash for them to treat us properly, even if we're only going to spend £20 and come back later and maybe buy a bass later on in the year, it all counts. If they don't treat me properly when i'm not going to buy a bass that instant, then i'm certainly not going to come back and grace them with my cash later on! And i was thinking of buying a bass of up to about £750 later on in the year, but i know now that it wont be from them unless they make some drastic changes.
19. Nice looking bass! And as for the things you spotted, as long as it sounds and plays fine then what's the problem?
20.
Bass Cellar? Didnt even get looked at in there! Mind you they had absolutely nothing to interest me so they were never going to prise any cash out of me.
See i saw a lot of things in there that i really liked, a lot of musicmans, a lot of warwicks, it's just a shame that the service there is so poor and that the prices are so ridiculously high.
21.
Yeah I was def there on Thursday.. Maybe you have a sort of doppleganger who is like a whole day ahead of everything you do?
Possibly!
22. Man that's gotta suck for both of you
23.
But, right now, I'm really missing the Tony Franklin I had for about 5 days and sold by accident:
If you don't mind me asking... how did you sell it by accident?
i think it was about a '92 MM stingray 2 band, natural with maple fret and neck, really nice, had the old style bridge with mutes. loved that bass but had to sell it and my practice amp and only got £300 for both, in a word....gutted
how did you only manage £300 for that?
24.
Definitely. There’s no point in ranting to someone from Music Ground who has come on here to give their point of view when it would have been very easy for them to ignore us. I’d have a lot more respect for the company if someone did come on here to either try to resolve the bitterness that many of us have developed with the Bass Cellar’s apparent lack of customer service, or give their perspective of the discussion and try to somehow justify it. Keeping it civil should be a priority though.
fixed, bit of a typo there And yeah i agree, there's no point flaming the guy, it would just make situations worse.
25. I believe if you get in contact with ampeg they should be able to send you a new one, or if you send it to them they might repair it.
