1. tapco do some nice little mixers for about £60, and i think they're made by mackie or something? EDIT: here it is, mackie designed mic pre-amps apparently, which everyone seems to go about with mackie mixers. Looks pretty funky too.
2. D'oh! I just started a thread for you too! I'll just copy what i put there and delete that one "I sold him a neck that didn't fit the bass i had, very co-operative guy. He sent me a cheque as he doesn't have paypal but it cleared fine and all was good. Very nice guy to talk to and it was a nice and easy transaction, i'd do business again! thanks dude" EDIT: yeah alright just use the other >_< that was confusing haha

4. Yeah i definitely wouldn't pay for it, ebay don't send those emails, they maintain that you should use paypal because it's the safest method and don't really advise that you use any other payment method AT ALL on some things, which is fair really. Report him to ebay and tell him where to go.
5. BUMP for an awesome bass, i just bought a 4 string version of this (same finish and board too!) from stingray fan and they really are amazing basses for the money, they play and sound absolutely fantastic. They've got a real chunky growl to them, brilliant. Good luck with the sale
6. nice i was tempted to get one, but i don't use my current 5 string much as it is. I still want a squier jazz though, some of them are really good.
7. Nice collection mate I just thought i'd chime in that the squier jazz 5 string you have isn't a vintage modified, it's a Jazz deluxe V, but they do look very similar, still, very nice basses none the less! I saw one in white the other day, VERY pretty.
8.
Yes that's exactly what I meant! If you post the serial on the EB forum, they will tell you what day it was completed Mine was completed on the 12th July 2002 and sent to Bass Northwest
Mine is the 16th of december 2003
Thanks for the info Dave. The year is good enough for me. 1992 is pretty old! Is there a particular year which was a good for Ernie ball musicman basses?
They're all great but i love the transitional ones in the 90's, the ones without the skunk stripes, with the new style bridge, the metal battery cover and birdseye necks, though that's from a completely aesthetic point of view. I think they're all as good as each other really.
9. Haha that was an analogy i hadn't heard before... i think he meant they're a bit common... and it that's not what he meant then f*** knows!
10. Yeah i think you're spot on there, i forgot about that actually!
11. Yeah i saw that, but you think that's good, take a look at this sucker, is that stunning or what?
12. I agree there with you, it does seem to be a bit more flexible, and from what i've heard today (just playing along with music) it seems to cut through a bit more, but the SUB just has that indescribable musicman growl that the G&L doesn't. Don't get me wrong, they're both great though!
13. Sweet, that lavender ray is interesting I also saw an albert lee with a flamed maple top in pink burst or something like that in my local clown control before it closed down, i'm not one for pink finishes but my god it looked amazing! EDIT: i think it may have been one of these
14. Thanks all
15. I quite like them, they look really modern and simple...
16.
I played a 4 string H-H Bongo a few days ago, Great playing, looking and sounding bass. The only thing I don't really like about them is the painted necks.
I rather liked it, i think they're too modern looking to get away with unpainted, though i've seen a couple and they don't look too bad... I liked how they weren't glossy either though, felt really nice.
17. I take it you know about the grolsch straplocks?
18. Thanks they are rather nice. I was going for a blue burst one but i rather like natural ash too. I still prefer my SUB bass, it's a very similar sound but the SUB has that extra bit of oomph, the G&L does play nicer though...
19. *sigh* You forgot your coat
20.
At a guess, I'd say Splated Maple as well, but I actually don't know, wish I knew where to find out, and the spalted top came as a nice little suprise actually .
I'm sure if you gave michael tobias (or MTD or whatever) an email with your serial number they could tell you And +1 it's a very nice bass
21. Very nice, matsumoku made some quality stuff and yours and all the other matsumoku arias/westones that are still going strong seem to be testament to that. I'd rather like a westone thunder 1A... Also it's a full 1 years older than me that
22. Not a clue mate, i've never even seen one let alone tried one, but i hear they're definitely not far off.
23. So here's my new G&L tribute L2000 i bought off stingrayfan (thanks again) it arrived today and i thought i'd get some shots of it while i still could. Might take some outside later this week. As you can see, it's very pretty, i love the grain on the body and the maple board is very nice, it wouldn't be right with rosewood IMO. And here's my full rig I should have another new addition in a few weeks too.
24. I've seen a few people using them, just slap them in and you'll be fine! Also how much was that preamp and where from? I've put some bartolinis in my toby pro 5 but i just don't like the pre...
25. I couldn't find a thread for this so i thought i'd put it here. So yeah i bought a G&L L2000 tribute from stingrayfan, very nice bloke he is, offered me more pictures when i said i'd buy it but i said no. He posted the bass on monday, and it arrived the next day, great! (though some of that has to be down to DHL, even though they don't know how to use a doorbell...) But yeah, after a bit of inspection, it's fairly well used, but nothing too bad, just a bit of corrosion here and there, but nothing that hinders the playability at all. Aside from that though it was a great deal and it's a fantastic playing, looking and sounding bass, and he even threw in a free set of strings and a gig bag, short lead and alan keys (the latter 3 of which he never even mentioned!). He's a nice guy, i'd certainly trade with him again.
