1.
Nice looking SUB there Sam. Wish I'd got one when they were around - love the painted neck on the SUBs.
Thanks i think the painted neck goes really well with the body, though it can get a bit sticky sometimes.
2. Haha, is that the yamaha you picked up at the tip?
3.
BTW, I love the look of the Bongo! Especially in that chrome orange. Yum!
Desert gold and they're discontinuing it I tried a bongo the other day... i liked it, very comfortable, very playable, VERY nice neck, pretty good sound, though i found the preamp a little overwhelming and i didn't really think it had the stingray growl that i like...
4. Ooh i like those cutlasses very much! Also the old natural ones are pretty nice too EDIT: i like the PBB SR5 there i'm looking at trying to find a PBB SR4 with a maple board near to christmas.

6. I think the humble musicman bass deserves it's own porn thread, they're not the most expensive, but they're definitely some of the best basses you can get short of getting a custom shop! To get the ball rolling, here's my not so expensive, but still lush sounding and playing SUB bass: Let's see what other beauties you guys have got, i know there are plenty out there! EDIT: sorry for the huge photos if any of you have particularly slow internet like mine is being at the moment!
7. Ugh, i HATE things like that, they're utterly pointless.
8. Can you not have through body and just regular stringing on those bridges?
9. I think jordan rudess, mike portnoy, james labrie and john petrucci of dream theater are all rather awesome (and obviously john myung, but he's a bassist) Dimebag Darrell was also an awesome guitarist and phil anselmo of pantera/down has one hell of a voice too Also Hendrix, he was cool Oh and robert plant because his voice is awesome again, and jimmy page because he wrote some awesome licks And same reasons again for brian johnson and angus young
10. nice boobs... sorry i mean bass! Seriously though, they're nice basses those peaveys, i was thinking about getting one but i couldn't afford it, then by the time i had the money i could afford something better >_< good starter basses though.
11. I know rotosound swing 66 strings have red windings... so maybe their flats have black as kennyrodg said. Makes sense suppose.
12. I was thinking about calling him, but then i wouldn't know what to say... That and i don't know if my contract would charge me extra for international calls or not.
13. I tried a spear bass the other day, not that one, a nice single cut one, it was actually pretty nice!
14. That's a price and a half! If only you could wait 5 months and i'd almost certainly take it off your hands!
15. For drop C which i use in my band a lot i use ernie ball power slinkies, that's 55-110 which i find plenty thick enough to cope with drop C and i don't get much rattle if any at all on my musicman if i don't play stupidly hard and you won't need to file the nut either and if you want to tune back up to standard they're not too tight either.
16. He's offering to meet up though... i'd meet him and pay in cash, it being his first transaction, but i suppose everyone has to start somewhere
17. How much are you looking for mate?
18. I wonder if you'd be able to get hold of one of the new fender high mass bridges? Fender seem to sell all the rest of the components of their basses apart from the neck and body!
19. That blue 5 string overwater is STUNNING!
20. I mounted a wall hanger onto a brick chimney breast in my current house, and one of the two screws went into a mortar joint... I ended up pulling it off one day quite easily by mistake, good job it hadn't worked itself loose and fallen off when i wasn't there holding it!
21.
Since when did “savagely reshaped” become “slightly modified”? Seems to be asking for a lot as well. £500 for that? Am I wrong in thinking that one sold on here recently and for a lot less than that…and it wasn’t “slightly modified” either.
That shop tends to sell a lot of vintage things, not one of them i would pay even half of what they're asking for them, that included. I think they think just because something is old, it MUST be valuable, but they fail to take into account the fact that a lot of what they sell is absolute crap.... that's just old.
22. Only SLIGHTLY modified mind - here
23.
Very tasty... I'm tempted to get one of those Behringer tuners - just for the rack light. That's me being quite sad, I think.
Actually you weren't the only one thinking that!
24. The standard strap buttons that come on sterlings ARE NOT compatible with any current straplock systems. You'll have to swap the buttons out with schallers/dunlops/whatever, it's not a big mod. However to put your mind slightly at ease, Ernie Ball have come out with some new strap locks and they'd be ideal because the screws they use are exactly the same size as the ones the stock strap buttons you get so you don't have to worry about cracking the wood. Incidentally i used dunlops on my SUB bass, the screws are slightly larger but i thought f*** it, it'll be fine and didn't bother drilling the holes a bit bigger, just screwed them straight in and they're fine, same with my tobias.
