1. You can always just wait for a real MM preamp to come on ebay, it happens
2. Honestly, i'd go for a real musicman pickup like the one warwickhunt is selling. I'd also advise trying to get hold of an EBMM preamp (might be able to through EBMM customer services?), because nothing sounds like a musicman. I believe they're the best MM style pickups you can get, anything other than an EBMM pickup in a musicman is a downgrade in my opinion, so like i say, try and get hold of one.
3. I honestly can't remember, though i do remember only coming up with probably one or two pages for my tobias toby pro 5b custom, i've just googled it again and most of the pages that do come up are mentions on talkbass, basschat and harmony central forums. There's only one photo of it comes up in google images too. I'm just saying, it's a pretty hard thing to judge, 'rarest production bass in the world' because obviously there's a lot of other fairly obscure stuff out there too.
4. As i said, they're korean, same as some epiphones have QC issues, and obviously it's all pretty subjective anyway. Don't get me wrong, it looked really nice, but the pickups didn't seem all great to me and the neck didn't quite feel like a jazz should.
5.
i think the guy you and big red x are talking about is skywalker?
I can't remember, but i know he had that no-name maple fretless p-bass copy and the american jazz... (come on, help us out here!)
6. holy crap... i'm not sure you could even do much to that XD
7. I've only ever owned one maple boarded bass, and that was my stagg MM copy. I do like maple boards, but they have to go with the bass.... as opposed to rosewood that goes with almost anything. I really want either a squier VM jazz fretted with the maple board or a maple board stingray tbh.
Like this? There's someone on this forum with a maple board Fender too.
Aye, was gonna mention you, and actually it wasn't a fender, was a no name p-bass copy but yeah, i'm assuming you meant the guy at the bash?
8. I wouldn't say it makes it the rarest ever, i've tried searching for some things on google and come up with absolutely nothing.
9. I'm pretty crap at using my pinky, so sometimes it hides itself behind the neck and i can't get it out unless i need to play something with it... hmmmm.... Also my slapping technique is pretty lazy, you're meant to do it with your thumb straight i believe but i tend to bend it a bit.
10. Damn, the purple to red burst quilted maple top on the studio elite SE HD looks almost edible! Yum! And i hope you enjoy the bass doesn't look much, lets hope it sounds amazing though!
11. I really wanted to go to that, then i realised it was the same weekend as download, AND the ernie ball musicman bass bash! dammit!!! Why couldn't they have been 3 consecutive weekends? or the bass bash and the guitar show have been the same weekend but a different one to download? bah
12. I played one on monday against a squier VM fretted. Suffice to say that the squier was better. It was half the price, it was brighter and the neck felt slimmer to me. The 24 had a higher output but it wasn't particularly clear what the controls did and i couldn't find a whole load of workable tones. Also the neck finish wasn't that nice and it felt fatter than the squier. Don't get one. EDIT: so you already have one... lol nevermind
13. Yeah i don't understand why they didn't use a bridge that could be adjusted...
14.
My church rig as of today. From top down: Hartke 3500, GK 2001RB, UL310, and slighty dodgy Hartke 15". Jamming with the band on this lot is the most bass-related fun I've ever had...it'll be even more so when I can add the Aguilar GS212 I just bought to it... Who says you don't need huge rigs? I have to play to a 500-seat church with the muddiest acoustics ever and a 50ft cieling, with the world's crappest PA subs - so crap they don't even carry the band's bass because it just comes as pure merino wool, also contains lanolin. So I think I have an excuse for a 1320W, two-power-amp stack. At least, that's what I'm telling myself... Now I need some nice lights to go in a 6U rack case with the GK, I was thinking a graphic eq and a compressor. Any suggestions (need lots of lights on them). Jon
Nice rig, i like the GK head and epifani cab, very nice Also sweet looking tobias is it a toby pro?
15.
+1 When I started gigging (years and years ago!) I thought a cheap 100W 15" combo would be enough. It wasn't.
Same as, i thought that a few months ago (not gigged yet but it became apparent at practice) so i upped to a 180W ashdown with a 115 and a 210. That just does the job, though i could do with a bit more headroom sometimes.
16.
As a film fan, I want a superhero style Tee that says 'Continuity Girl' on it. I think that's an original idea. I have no idea how I'd go about getting that.
There are sites on the net where you can design your own tshirt and have it sent to you for about £12 or so a piece.
17. Mmm, that jazz looks nice, squier are really upping their game! Good on them!
18.
no stingray ?
i thought that too
19. dude.... learn to type
20. I think no! musicman pickups sound amazing to begin with, why would you want to change them?
21. The guitarist in my band pretty much writes everything, so i don't get much creative input. Which i don't mind too much because i suck at writing riffs. When i do write riffs though, i tend to copy the style of a certain song i'm listening to or have in my head and just build on that. a lot of the time i just noodle until i get something that sounds good.
22. Haha awesome I'm on about getting a tshirt printed that says "I'm a bassist.... please talk slowly!"
23. Yeah it is a bit overpriced.... a few years ago it might have been worth that though. Also i don't understand sellers that put the BIN price at the same price or like £1 higher than the actual starting price, who the f*** do they think is going to bid on it?
24.
a peavey bass amp with 3 tutor DVDs i think... confusing that they wouldnt put a picture of the amp though...
a peavey bass amp with some free DVDs... cab not included.... you get an undrescribed head instead? what?
25. To me it just looks like he's copied someone else's review off harmony central. and as for the small print at the bottom, the photo doesn't look like a book to me, i think he was trying to scam someone.
