budget bassist replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yeah i don't buy from people that do that on principle, it pisses me right off. -
Jesus, how pissed off do you be to do that??!! " Q: what the heck happened to the bass? Apr-23-08 A: you got me, That is how I got it. " Whatever mate, why would you buy that and then just sell it on?

Cool, nice to see someone more impulsive than i am The catches on that look significantly more heavy duty than the ones on the gator. -

Haha i think you'll be pretty safe, nice looking cases and warwick rockbags are alright, i mean warwick are hardly stagg are they? If you decide to take the gamble though, let me know what it's like? I might consider getting one if they're any good. -
been nagging me for a while so i'll ask here, does anyone really notice the subharmonic generator with it on or do you really need something like a sub cab to get the effect from it? i just figured mine did not much at all.
You'd probably need an extra 15" cab to notice it, though i still can't for the life of me figure out why it's there. My old behringer had one and it just sounded awful (it could have had something to do with the fact that it was a behringer but i still can't see it being incredibly useful on the ashdown either), I'll see what happens when i pick mine up on sunday

That aria is really nice looking. Also a guy on the EBMM forum had one of those yamahas refinished, looked really nice. -
Anything that other band members do that wind you up
budget bassist replied to dabootsy's topic in General Discussion
When band members play their instrument over you speaking, PARTICULARLY when they do it on purpose and PARTICULARLY when it's the drummer because 99% of the time you can't turn them off. Sometimes i think thoughts about an electronic drum kit or even better, a drum machine because they don't go out of time -
those warwick tolex cases look like great value at around £40, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had experience with them.
Exactly what i thought, i'd love one just for the vintage look, give it a good drag around on the pavement first (and at £40 i can almost afford to do so... ALMOST haha) -
Just been into SC Newcastle and they have a used Peavey Firebass head (£199), 4x10tvx (£130) and 1x15 (£249). This all falls within your budget and I'm sure they can transport stock between stores easy enough!
Yeah anything that's not in stock but is in another store they'll transport it to your store for you free of charge, only thing is when i did this it took them 3 weeks to sort it, rather than the 4 days they quoted me.

You just need to practice. Either that or it's setup badly.
-
I think you should just give it to me tbh
LOk thanks mate i took the plastic cover off it now.OMg they`ve got the best looking basses on that website i`ve ever seen.:D
What and basschat doesn't?
might be easier to keep it fretless, and sort the fretboard out. I recn you could do that, sell it on here and almost double the price you paid for it!
You mean... he might almost make £8!? Nahhh surely not?

We need more people Also would anyone be interested in my ashdown EB180 stack if i brought it or should i not bother? (i realise i haven't got it yet but i will by sunday)
Mine is also chunky, and also black (with maple and matching head incidently) but even though it does have a chunky neck everytime i plug it in i still giggle and say "It sounds just like a stingray!" As i wanted one for sooooo many years, infact it was specificly the sound of a Ray that got me started (Chilis and RATM and ride, and Neds), i was like i wanna make 'that' sound, and only a ray would do, shame it took like 15 years to get one!, and over a year later i STILL havn't got over the novelty! Sorry to threadjack, lush bass good luck with the sale, the pickguard looks like an abalone one i used to have.
I know what you mean, i love that stingray sound. I have a sub, it only cost me £350 off the bay and it sounds exactly the same, i love it! Though i am trying to get a real ray... -
What's the attraction with those? I had a Westone flying v and it was nothing special at all. And is it West-One or Wes-Tone?
I hear the basses are really nice, very playable necks and good sounding, cheap too. Also they're very well made, how else do you think loads of them are still around? considering the matsumoku factory was destroyed in the late 80's all of them are at least 20 years old and still working EDIT: and it's wes-tone -
Did your Heritage Mockingbird arrive yet?
Saw him say in another thread it had arrived, where are the pictures damnit!!??
Does anybody know where i can get different scrach/face plates for my bass? Oh and thanks for the comments.
You can get musicman scratchplates from sound control or sites on the net if you google it, but they might not fit considering yours isn't a real musicman
Hey guys, im pretty new to this site and this was one of the first posts i saw lol pretty awesome it is too.
thats a wee bit unfair re Glasgow. oli and the boys have done extremely well for me over the years and stevie in otago street is an absolute star. its a shame you encountered this. andy
The bass guy in my local SC is mint, really friendly guy, we're actually on first name terms, it's just a shame SC as a company couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

ashdown abm 410t or 410h what the difference
budget bassist replied to dabootsy's topic in Amps and Cabs
i think - and don't quote me on that - but the "t" stands for tweeter and the "h" stands for horn.
That's what i thought, though i'm not sure how much difference that makes because don't they both essentially do the same thing? Not a fan of tweeters myself though. I think the main difference is the shape. A tweeter is built in like a regular speaker... but smaller, i think a horn is like a small speaker amplified by... well... a horn. It may well be air powered rather than a speaker, i don't know to be honest with you. Wiki it.
I often get the horn but i never get the tweeter
Oh DEAR! haha -
Nothing, last time i bought an amp from them it took 3 weeks to get here, safe to say i'm not buying from them again apart from the odd accessory. (would probably be an ashdown stack though, i'm fed up of combos)
