1. Even so that's a good price!! EDIT: actually it's suspiciously good... i notice a lot of scammers aren't particularly good in the field of grammar, spelling or punctuation because a lot of them are based in foreign countries, i'd be careful with that one to be honest. I can be pretty cynical as people have tried to scam me in the past but if i was going to buy that i'd go to london and check it out because i'm pretty sure i've seen those photos on ebay before.
2. Ah the fretless may be more expensive, i dunno. But you can get a standard MIM fretted for £340 from GAK. There was a thread concerning the value of a standard fretted MIM jazz the other day and i think the general consensus was that they generally go for £200-£250 used. I'm not sure if that's the case for fretless or not, they might be worth more (i haven't really looked, not my thing), but there isn't as much of a market for them.
3. I'd say between £200-£250 then if it's in good condition.
4. Relisted and with an EVEN MORE optimistic starting price!
5. sweet, go for it. Looks in much better condition than the last one that was posted on here!
6. Some sweet gear you got there, tried out one of those spectors the other day, they look amazing (particularly that green one!) but i don't get on with EMGs much, never have. And i didn't like the neck much but obviously that's subjective, i like my really thin fast necks. Also the red stain on ash looks really nice there
7.
Nope, I ain't got one....but I NEED one, really bad, they look gorgeous. I really do need the Olympic White with Rosewood board.....this is evil GAS.......seriously considering selling two basses to get one of those beauties....I can't cope PORN. http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0190660705
I know what you mean, i've wanted a MIM jazz in olympic white for ages simply because they age SO well...
I had a good play on one in the Gallery and was distinctly underwhelmed. Cold sounding, like a cheaper copy. Neck looked very ordinary, fingerboard dark rosewood with almost no grain - reminded me of cheap copies that used random hardwoods and stained them darker to look like rosewood! No better than a Highway One IMHO - which were being knocked out at £300 less. Bearing in mind a Sadowsky Metro is about £300 more than the standard (and you can get a tasty Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn with passive Lindy Fralins for the same price), the Fender is not good value for money. If I had to buy another Fender sub-£1000 I'd get the Japanese Geddy Lee or Marcus Miller - played them at the same time and they had much more feel and life. They both looked sharp too! Of course the standard could just have been a duff one but the fit and finish wasn't even that good either.
Yeah i'd have a geddy over an MIA standard jazz any day of the week
8. Hmm, he has a weird way of wearing that bass, looks cool though. The steinberger i tried was very light. If you can get hold of a full graphite one... well... that probably won't weigh a ton but good luck to you!!
9. oh sweet i love jaguar shapes Man one i day i WILL buy an SX or something along those lines and mod it lots and lots... i just need a job... damn!
10. I really don't like them TBH. They're unbearably ugly, i don't like the way they play, they're stupidly heavy and a lot of the time have REALLY bad neckdive unless you know what to do with the strap button. Yeah that's all subjective but it seems pretty major to me, it surprises me how many people play them. Gibsons are even worse IMO, no better quality and 5 times the price.
11. I don't think it's fair that sellers do that sometimes. The buyer has put down a binding bid, they did nothing wrong, only for them to be refused. That's pretty gutting sometimes, especially if it's something you've been looking for, for a long time. I wouldn't want it done to me. I've sold some things on there before for less than satisfactory prices but i went along with it because it was the right thing to do and i like to think not everyone on there are there to con people out of money.
12.
I can tune accurately in well under a minute with noise all all around me and my bass unplugged. I don't have perfect pitch, or probably even 'good-enough' pitch - just a Planet Waves SOS tuner.
They any good? Also do they work for drop tunings? say drop C or D standard?
13. Oooo, i like the red top on the ML. The Z tour looks pretty cool too. I don't usually like explorer shape basses but that does it for me.
14. I suck at tuning by ear, i prefer to just use an electronic tuner.
15.
It's still their item surely, if they decide to sell to it outside of ebay then that's their choice.
Nope, not allowed, not a lot they can do to stop people if they do decide to do it but they don't condone it none the less. Quote from earlier in the thread:
Just got an email from eBay re. ending listings early. "As such, it is a violation if a seller indicates: - that they have the right to cancel their listing at any time, for any reason. - that their listed item is also for sale simultaneously off eBay (e.g. local market). - that the item was in stock at the time of listing but that it may be out of stock at the time of purchase. - that the item listed may not necessarily be the one that the winning bidder receives upon auction completion. To see eBay's user agreement as implicated within Inappropriate Seller Terms - "Other Binding Bids" policy, copy this link into a new browser window:"
16. a steinberger If you don't mind how it looks that is.
17.
I already have a 5 string Warwick $$, but I've been wanting a new bass lately just for a bit of variation. I'm just wondering would this be worth it
If you're not put off by how f***ing ugly it is, i think it may well be worth it. Sounds very musicman.
18. Nice clean looking ATK here. not much special and not amazingly cheap, decent price though and i like the chrome hardware and pickguard on gloss black, never seen that before, i don't really like them much but that one does it for me.
19. It's been removed now anyway, my guess is someone reported it and ebay didn't like the "i have to right to blah blah blah i'm a twat" bit. To be fair neither do i. They blatantly haven't read ebay's rules, they really don't have right to end early at all.
20. I've not used one but i've seen a couple used and that triple rail pickup sounds REALLY chunky.
21. I think as long as people want to listen to music, the music industry will boom, someone has to produce it right? I think soon enough it will be literally impossible to illegally download music though and a lot more people will start paying to download it. I know some people in the music industry and they're pushing for music to start being released on USB memory sticks a lot more but i hope it doesn't go that way. that would make CDs obsolete and would make it hard to find decent CD players... plus a USB stick collection just doesn't look good like a good CD collection does. Also i think it's pretty sad that the astoria is being demolished... That place was pretty famous. I know it's not really related much but one of the pubs in hucknall where i live is being closed down. That's pretty sad because that means my band has nowhere to practice and that pub is where all the local alternative bands have always played. I know it's not a big venue but it's a really important place to a lot of the people that live here, not to mention it leaves a few of my friends without an income, the barstaff, the manager and the guy that organises and promotes the gigs there, all friends of mine.
22. If i wanted a jazz bass for £200ish i'd either go for a squier VMJ or a used MIM fender jazz. What's your budget?
23. Mmm sounds like a good deal, that should sell relatively fast, nice basses they are good luck with the sale
24. affinity are just not as good as the standard. The standards are by no means particularly good basses, they're just decent enough. Get a vintage modified jazz though if you can spare £250, easily as good as a MIM fender i'd say.
