1.
+1 for Ultimate Guitar. Been using them a lot lately.
+2 And try to get the guitar pro files from there if you can, they tend to be more accurate than just written tabs because the author generally puts more time and effort into them and is usually more skilled at tabbing by ear. Not to mention everything has to be in time.
2. hmm, well it could be the same thing, maybe when my pots get dirty they get very dirty might as well give it a go though unless there's someone else on here who thinks they know what it is
3. if it's a sort of crackling sound it could just be dirty or something, try using some contact cleaner on it. You can buy it from most car related shops i think. EDIT: here's some in maplin, only £4 so worth a go.
4. Yeah if you mean what i think you mean, though it is hard to describe, i think i used to get that on my musicman running through the 1X15 ashdown at my old college on the 5th fret of the A string i think it was. I'd play the note and after a few seconds the note would be gone and this noise would just get louder just making the room rumble and it would keep sustaining until i let go. Never had it before and it was only on that amp in that room. Strange, is that what you meant?
5. Or even better than that, one of these, safe as houses those things.
6.
These little fells look safe as...
They just look like the same principle behind dunlops.
7. i bought a chinese made ampeg and the tweeter is on the fritz... I'm not going to do that again if i can help it.
8.
Thank's for the GAS, it's a tidy tool and soon to become a classic i think...... Are those pant's clean?
I'm not sure, i've picked them up since then
9.
Well with bedroom recordings i can understand, but surely on any real recording setup youd just turn up the input gain?
Well yeah but we're not that pro yet only reason i can see for low output being bad (if you have the cash for a preamp and whatever) though active basses can be tonally different and more punchy.
10. A few months ago i did an 8 minute one on the beginnings and evolution of the electric guitar/bass. I think i had 30 slides-ish and i could have done way more. I really had to make it short!
11. I got the camera out on the tripod without the flash when we had a brief sunny spell the other day and i have to say i like the results! what say you? It's only my sub bass but damn i think it really looks nice, especially with the black guard, the metal one looked so gimmicky! I plan to do the same with my tobias next time i have a chance (may not be too soon, it is england after all!)
12. Thanks for clearing that up! ^_^ I was actually wondering the same thing!
13. Quick question, are the necks on the SX jazzes gloss or satin finishes?
14. I was actually going to recommend one of those before i read your post ^^^ they seem really solid, fold up small and i really love hercules stuff, i have two hercules wall hangers and they're really good. I actually need to buy one of those for upcoming band practices and gigs etc
15. passive basses can be irritating sometimes because of the low output when my band has bedroom recording sessions, they found themselves having to boost the bass levels on the PC because it just didn't cut through. Luckily they have a bassist with two active basses now and the higher output means they can actually hear their bassist
Ofcourse the correct metal reply is: "But my amp goes up to 11"
Haha why was i thinking that too? lmao
16. It's not a fender jazz because the pots are in the wrong positions there.
17. I've never seen anywhere selling them as they're pretty rare but try http://www.simscustom.com/, they'll cut you a custom one for about £20-£30 i think, or go to sound control and ask if they have any, i got my musicman pickguard there for £13 i think it was. Even came with a years guarantee ^_^
18. Yeah same as the above post. Dunlops all the way, i've never used schallers but i had a look at my mate's once and they didn't look that safe to me. Try http://www.axesrus.com/, that's where i got mine from, not much more than a tenner if at all, they're £8.90 on there with free shipping. When i bought mine the day i got them one broke so i complained and they said don't even bother sending the broken unit in and sent me out a replacement right away. Great service. Other than that though they're pretty solid.
19. Hot rails and cool rails are guitar pickups so no. Also the bass is pretty suckish too, not worth upgrading at all IMO. Spend a couple of hundred on a decent bass.
20. That's not a modulus, modulus jazzes have their controls all in a straight line. Not sure what is but it's no modulus.
21.
Feeding the GAS merely suppresses it for a few weeks until you a) see something ELSE you like or b) what you bought doesn't live up to expectations.
This is true, once you acquire the gear you tend to move onto something else... i know i do
22. Yeah i noticed that one earlier and thought what a f***ing lunatic!
23. I'd go for the GK, i've not tried one myself but i hear good things. Though i'm not fan of ashdown (their combos at least) the few i've tried had a lot of trouserflap but were very muddy and the EQ didn't really do much at all.
24.
Unfortunately at this time, there is no know cure
You're wrong, there is a cure, and a fantastic one at that (though you may lose some loved ones) which is to buy the item you have GAS for.... I've got some pretty bad GAS now actually In more ways than one...
