"Core Tone" isn't very important in your bass.
budget bassist replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
as always, i can' t be arsed to read the rest of the thread, but i had a corvette $$ which to my ears sounded amazing, got rid of it for a stingray HH (don't ask me why, i don't know either) which i reasoned should sound similar. Similar pre, similar woods, similar pickup config, but no matter what i did, i couldn't make it sound anything like my old $$, which is why i now have another one! -
Fran?
ahhhh i knew i recognised that avatar! good to see you here fran, i didn't watch the video though, it was taking aaaaages to load!

Though i'm not sure why the fact that NIN played through that cab (and the bassist probably never even touched it, thanks to his roadies) adds any value to it... it's just a used ABM cab.... I guess i'm just a cynic/grumpy git.

"Little Britain" prop for sale
budget bassist replied to steve-soar's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I DONT SEE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE LISTING WHO NEEDS PUNCTUATION AND LOWER CASE ANYWAY ITS PERFECTLY LEGIBLE WITHOUT YOU SHOULD TRY TALKING LIKE THIS ITS REALLY DIFFICULT SHOUT SHOUT LOUD NOISES -
It really doesn't take a whole lot of effort/brains to look at the new prices and then figure out that you should probably list if for LESS than they sell for new. Also, how on earth is that colour any kind of burst? Once again, the human race continues to astound me.
You're right Sam, she is special. While I'm here, I'd like to know what tool you guys use to adjust the Stingray Truss rod (just after a consensus of opinion) Pete
Taken from the FAQ section on the EBMM website!
Do I need a truss rod tool for my bass? The truss rod wheel design was designed so any musician can easily make minor adjustments to the neck. Any tool such as an allen wrench, nail, small screw driver, etc. that will fit into the wheel hole will work. Turn the wheel a quarter turn at a time then check by playing your bass. Clockwise will raise the fingerboard.

What size hex (Allen-type) wrench will fit into my truss rod wheel? It doesn't have to be any particular tool - in fact we purposefully made it to where you can use almost anything to adjust it, such as a small screwdriver, hex wrench, or even a nail. At the factory, we typically use 3mm size hex wrenches.

I was trying ( and failing to make the point that this is XLR only and the 1/4" output does carry the good stuff I'll see what I can do about sc's.
I think because it's primarily a DI box and not an FX pedal like more recent versions, it was designed to be sent to a mixer rather than included in your FX chain. Again, fairly common with studo DI boxes etc (and definitely one of the better ones)

Grats man, that thing deserves a long term owner, she's special, i only wish it could have sounded how i wanted! Alas, i'm a warwick man through and through!
-
cool little box, i suppose it does what it sets out to do! i had one of the para drivers, was nice but just didn't get along with active basses.... if i had something passive, i'd get another in a heartbeat.
Unusually, only the XLR out carries the wet signal, the Parallel Out sends a dry version.
well duh! all DI boxes should do this, the xlr out carries the signal with the fx on it, "parallel out" is just a copy of the input, should you wish to send a dry signal to another fx unit, it's a pretty common feature on most studio electrickery.

haha they're so cool!
To be fair, I've not actually recorded drums with it yet as my kit lives at church most of the time. My plan was to record as midi. Next upgrade was to buy logic express as I believe it has a better set of drum samples to use. Although you can apparantly record as midi and then send the midi back to the kit and record using the line in f you want the sound off the drum module.
ah right electronic kit, i didn't read that very thoroughly! yeah you can do that i think, makes sense. or you could do a live recording with just the line out off the drum module i think.

Uh oh! Laura broke the Bass...
budget bassist replied to LauraBrokeTheBass's topic in Repairs and Technical
yeah just sounds to me like you need a new nut! go down to a local guitar shop they'll probably give you one free of charge or near enough free. as for strings, flatwounds are easier on your fingers, but sound duller, i'd say get the strings that sound best and just get used to them. welcome to the forum! -
In threads where people show a collection of their basses, I like to ask what would be their desert-island bass if they had to pick just one. I think in this case, T, the desert island could be more of a looming reality than you think! Nice quartet by the way. So, which one will it be?
I'd choose some sort of upright, take the top off, sit inside and use the neck as a paddle, sorted

nice you still enjoying the ray then?
-
forgive my skepticism, but can you even reach/use the 38th fret on that ritter??!! also, that MTD is absolutely stunning!
Hey guys! Up for sale i have an Ibanez RG570, made in japan in 1990. ( The 570 series back then was the early 90's equivilent of the modern day Ibanez prestige series.) Black with rosewood board, small chips near the input jack and a dent above the low e string. Frets are in good condition, truss rod works 100%, great low action. Modifications include, Plastic pickup raiser rings have been replaced with metal equivilants. Trem backplate has also been replaced. The guitar also comes with a Beat up hardcase. Pickup from Bristol UK £280 FIRM. Shipping not included in price but available. Rob.
Sorry, I'm just confused... If you're worried about DC990 being a new member with few posts, he's a personal friend of mine, and you can trust him.

easy and to the point can i ask how you record drums? do you just record in mono with one mic?
Yeah, it looks like a great bass, much better without the maple inlay though!
i actually preferred the maple inlay and yeah, it's most certainly one of the nicer singlecuts i've seen, IMO!
-
i've certainly seen a couple on here who have done similar things, i think beedster and/or wateroftyne are the main guys to talk to about that

SOLD - For Sale or Swap: Bass Centre - Stadium
budget bassist replied to Oggy's topic in Basses For Sale
wow, that's very nice, bargain for £250. Yeah i thought it looked like an MTD, i had no idea that the bass centre had licensed the design (i guess they were made in the korean MTD factory and rebadged). I'd love this, but i can't afford it, unfortunately Also "bump" is when you add another post to your thread to send it to the top of the forum. Welcome, by the way -
ooh i'm liking this
You mean like this? I think it looks rather fetching! I think it looks NAFF when players have their bass high enough so you would be able to see their belly button underneath it (if they didn't have a top on)
I think TM stevens and bootsy are the only two guys in the world that can pull off basses that extravagant without looking like a tit.
